The Toyota Yaris ranks number one in Canadian subcompact sales and for 2008, the most affordable passenger car in the Toyota model lineup is available in a three-door, new four-door and five-door formats.

    Fuel Economy

All Yaris models come equipped with a standard five-speed manual transmission that achieves a fuel-efficiency rating of 6.9L/100km (34.1mpg-US) city and 5.5L/100km (42.8 mpg-US) highway. The Yaris may also be ordered with an available four-speed automatic transmission that is rated at 7.0L/100km city (33.6 mpg-US) and 5.6L/100km (42.0 mpg-US) highway per Transport Canada.

Fuel Efficiency - Federal Rebates Program

The Vehicle Fuel Efficiency Incentive, announced as part of the recent Federal Budget offers $1000 in rebates toward the purchase of a new Toyota Yaris which currently meets the required fuel efficiency criteria as posted on the Transport Canada website. The Federal rebate is in addition to Provincial rebates already being offered in PEI, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia. The rebates apply to purchases or long-term leases of 12 months or longer made after March 19, 2007. Proof of purchase or lease, provincial vehicle registration and VIN will be required. Further program details including the timing of the payment of the rebates will be announced by the Government of Canada in the coming months. Please see your dealer for more information or visit Eco Action.

    Safety

Yaris helps protect its occupants with a reinforced cabin that integrates front and rear crumple zones and energy-absorbing materials on the roof and doors. Yaris is equipped with height-adjustable headrests and three-point seatbelts in all five seating positions, front seatbelt pre-tensioners, force limiters and adjustable B pillar shoulder belt anchors. Standard driver and passenger advanced dual-stage front airbags (SRS) inflate according to collision severity. A front seat passenger sensor is designed to detect how much weight is on the seat to determine whether the airbag should inflate and the correct inflation power. Front-seat-mounted side airbags with first and second row roll-sensing side curtain airbags are available as options, as is an anti-lock brake system (ABS).

    Peace of Mind

The 2008 Yaris is provided with Toyota's no deductible, no transfer fee, comprehensive warranty that covers the entire vehicle for three years/60,000 kilometres. Power train components are covered for five years/100,000 kilometres, major emission control components are covered for eight years/130,000 kilometres and corrosion perforation for five years with unlimited distance.

Toyota also provides 24-hour Roadside Assistance for all models. Help is just a phone call away at 1-888-TOYOTA-8. Roadside emergency services include battery boost, lockout service, fuel delivery, tire change, winching, and even towing. A friend of mine has one and it is a nice car. Lots of room and a good size trunk. It would be great with Prius system? H
