    Nice numbers Edwin :)

Didn’t drive yesterday but did a 20 mile gravel bike ride. Also did a 30 miler on Wednesday.
Today, went to Goathland for a walk. Quite a hilly route:

    Total Miles Driven 21.45
    Rated Miles Used 20.05
    Efficiency 106.98 %
    Time Driven 47 Minutes
    kWh Used 5.18 kWh
    Wh/Mile 241 Wh

Going was Gain 1306.4 ft / Loss -968.5 ft / Total 337.9 ft / 304Wh/mi or 3.3 miles per kWh

Filled up the Elantra hybrid on the way home tonight at the Shell near work. $4.199/gal for 87 octane. The previous fill was back on 3/5/26, so the 8.8 gallons lasted a while. FCD showed 78.7mpg after the 8.8 mile trip home with little wind and warm 75F. It's the right tool for the job for weekday commuting.

There is someone at work who lives "two hours away" and drives a big pickup. I overheard him telling a co-worker that he's breaking even on fuel costs. The money he earns is just going into the tank. I feel bad, but then again I don't. People buy three ton monsters to drive four hours each day to commute and then lament fuel costs when prices spike. Nobody told him to buy a daily driver sized so that has its own zip code.

BillLin electric everything with solar and geothermal

Hey Gord, do you interact daily to take advantage of the fluctuating renewable energy in the UK?

    One link of many.
    https://www.energydashboard.co.uk/live

I just started reading the (UK based?) SpeakEV forum and the members there are really into working the system and using electricity during free periods. Great stuff, but I couldn't spend that kind of time optimizing energy use depending on what the grid is doing.

I think the US is way behind on renewables and adapting to the changing energy market. I read "Octopus" software from the UK is making its way into my Massachusetts National Grid software so there's some hope of improvements.

Most of our DuPage County gas stations are at five bucks.
I'm going to try to stretch this tank a bit.

Hey Bill, I haven’t gotten into the working the system to that degree but I do have an EV specific tariff with Octopus Energy which works very well for us. I top up my battery system and charge my car (if needed) overnight (start 23:30) at currently a very cheap rate of 5.4c (3.99p) /kWh. The battery is at 100% by 05:30 (peak rate start time) and then powers the house all day topped up by solar. When it gets back to 100%, it exports any excess electricity back to the grid for which I get 16.3c (12p) for each kWh .
At this time of year my electricity bills are negative! Last week I exported 120kWh (nearly $20). Last year I exported 2707kWh and consumed 4049kWh :)
