Bought an S6 earlier this year, wanted to beat the tariffs. Been having issues with door not always unlatching properly. I took it in once already but problem happened again. I asked them specifically if there was any kind of TSB for problem, they said no. Car is at dealer now awaiting a part. Interesting part is mechanic working on car said it is a problem they see recently, and there is a TSB on it. Here's the kicker-I had to approve the repair and it said the door latch is considered a trim item and only has a 12/12000 warranty. I guess bumper to bumper means that, anything that falls outside the radius of the bumper has a shorter warranty. If the mirror craps out after 13 months it won't be covered. It pays to go into exacting detail before you buy a car. I don't expect the belts, hoses, tires and consumables to be covered but the door latch?
Too late now. Had it in once before and it acted up when I was down the road. I had a trunk full of frozen food from Costco so could not go back. I thought about going to a different dealer this time, that would have been a real slap in the face if I did that. Next closest dealer is same distance but in a different time zone (Chattanooga). So I guess read warranty coverage real, real close first. Could be another Camry in my future, this really p***** me off.
