Wheels and tires too big, like all the competition. Ridiculous "coupe" styling robs useful space. Otherwise, I like it.
That's a painful hit for the bigger tires. Unpimp the wheels but keep the rest of the extras on the Platinum. Having seen Tesla owners trapped literally for weeks until power was restored after hurricane Ian I'll wait for a hybrid. (Although it may be an S63 E next in my driveway.)
Like the Prius, the wheels got bigger but the width remains in the reasonable and more efficient range. I haven't seen the wheel/tire weights to compare. Leaf base 195/60R18 (taller befitting the CUV style) Prius base 195/60R17
Hi Bill: The 23 - 25 Prius' 17's are ultra-lightweight at just 17 lbs. according to Tirerack. I have been looking for media pics of the 18's on the LEAF S+ over the last 30-minutes and cannot find one but the press kit - spec page says Yokohama AVID GTs. Unfortunately, I am having a heck of a time finding an individual tire spec for those Yokahama's in 215/55R18 size? I made a request for a 26 LEAF S+ but Nashville, Nissan's Corporate HQ, does not have a Press Fleet so I have to wait until I get back to San Diego next month before I will even have shot at one. I am not a fan of wheel covers on steel wheels on the S+ but to drive the 303-mile range, drivers are forced to it. Regardless, the Platinum + trim looks darn good imho. 2026 Nissan LEAF in Platinum + trim Wayne
I still like this car. And I still have a $500 deposit at a local Nissan dealership from 2019 or 2020.
I don't know if Ascend is the same. Heavy at 26.7 lbs for the 215/55R18. Of course, my monster tires are ~30#. https://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/avid-ascend-gt I hear OEM tires aren't necessarily what's available to general customers. Lesser tread depth is a common OEM spec.
Yeah, I do think OEM tires are inferior and made to a certain price point. One possible exception (in my personal experience) was the Dunlop summer tires that came on my 1989 Civic Si. They stuck to the road like glue. Wear ? I don't know. After one miserable winter fighting for traction,I replaced them at 30K. Always all-season tires after that for that car (229K miles).
