    Hi All:

Here is how Nissan is trying to control its inventory and costs with the US tariff plan now in force.

Nissan is shifting its strategy to maximize production in its U.S. plants, particularly the Smyrna, Tennessee facility, to mitigate the impact of potential tariffs on imported vehicles. This includes boosting output of popular models like the Rogue and Pathfinder (see above), and potentially adding a second shift at Smyrna. Nissan is also exploring ways to leverage its existing U.S. capacity and is committed to maintaining current pricing levels through June 2nd.

Increased U.S. Production: Nissan is aiming to increase production at its Smyrna and Canton, Mississippi plants to offset the impact of tariffs on imported vehicles. Production increases are planned for key models like the Rogue, Pathfinder, Murano, and Frontier, which account for a significant portion of Nissan's U.S. sales.

Nissan is considering keeping the Smyrna plant open later to accommodate a second shift, potentially boosting production of the Rogue.

Nissan has pledged to hold prices steady through at least June 2nd to mitigate the impact of tariffs.

Nissan is actively working to maximize output at its U.S. facilities, recognizing that doing so will help it navigate the tariff landscape.

These shifts to domestic production is part of a broader plan to revitalize Nissan's U.S. operations.

    Hi All:

With the Honda merger talks collapsing in late February, it was only a matter of time before $**t hit the fan. A few hours ago, Nissan announced it is expecting a record net loss of between 700 and 750 billion yen ($4.9 to $5.3 billion) for the fiscal year ending in March. This is almost 9 times higher than a previous forecast of an 80-billion-yen loss ($560-milion USD).

The new CEO, Ivan Espinosa, is cutting jobs, reducing capacity, and closing plants around the globe to stem the red ink.

With Nissan’s fortunes quickly dwindling revealed by not only the just announced pre-earnings release loss, but its credit rating also fell to Junk status in Japan. In other words, drastic changes are in the air.
Nissan’s plans for (2) EVs based on the Maxima and Altima to be produced at its Canton, Mississippi manufacturing facility are out. In their place, three SUV EV models with manufacturing scheduled to begin in mid-2028.

The Canton facility currently builds the Altima and Frontier.

2025 Nissan Kicks Secures a Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX List

    2025 Nissan Kicks Interior

Simple but elegant. Being affordable and efficient (28/35 mpgUS city/highway) makes it that much better.

The annual Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX competition evaluates new or redesigned vehicle interiors and technologies. This year, 34 vehicles were evaluated for the award based on design and aesthetics, comfort, materials, fit-and-finish, connectivity, and infotainment, displays and controls, and driver assistance content and value.

All Kicks are powered by a 2.0L I4 making 141 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, this ICE is still mated to the very unreliable Nissan Xtronic CVT.

The 2025 Nissan Kicks features a modern interior with dual digital displays, Zero Gravity seating and a flexible cargo area offering 30 cu. ft. with the rear seats raised or 60 cu. ft. with them lowered. At 40.3 inches wide, the cargo area opening is the widest in the class and designed for easy loading thanks to its low liftover height of just under 28 inches.

Available options include a pano roof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus a 12.3-inch touchscreen.

The Kicks SR Premium Package adds a Bose Personal Plus 10-speaker audio system. For enhanced driver confidence, Intelligent AWD is available, along with standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 technologies.

The 2025 Nissan Kicks has a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) starting at $21,830, less than a $500 increase over the previous gen. If only they had included a std. 6-speed AT. :(

    Hi All:

The highlighted 2025 Kicks above was in for new IIHS crash tests setup first by Nissan which showed good ratings across that test’s spectrum. When IIHS completed their own, the end result was anything but good.

2025 Nissan Kicks - Updated IIHS Moderate Front Overlap Crash Test

This one was not an update but more along the lines of a downgrade. :(
