    2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV

Good looks, nice price, and excellent utility from an EV.

The 319/285 (FWD/AWD) miles of range, 213/288 hp (FWD/AWD), 85 kWh NCMA Li-Ion pack equipped, 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV price and specs reveals why it is quickly becoming the consumer hit that it is.

Charging is handled with the standard onboard 11.5 kW Level 2 (AC) charging solution and DCFC at up to 150 kW. Unfortunately, that 150 kW allows a 150-kW peak rate but after 30%, the BSM hammer is dropped, and rates fall to a range between 110 and 135 kW through 60% where the charging cliff pushed rates down into the mid 50 to 80 KW rate through approximately 85% SOC. All in, 5 to 80% is going to take 40 to 42-minutes.

While not competitive with the world class 2025 Porsche Taycan (5 to 80% in 16-minutes with an initial peak of 320 kw and holds above 300 kW out to 60%) or segment leading Hyundai Ioniq 5 (5 to 80% in 18-minutes with an initial peak of 230 kw and holds above 225 kW out to 47%), the Equinox EV charges very similar to two of its main competitors, the 320-mile range Mustang Mach-E charging from 5 to 80% in 45 minutes and 337-mile range Tesla Model Y doing the same in 36-minutes.

Like most compact CUVs, the Equinox provides a decent 6.4” of ground clearance. And where it really shines is its EPA passenger volume of 102 cu. ft. and cargo volume of 57.2/26.4 cu. ft. behind the front/rear seats.

The driver and central displays are just as attractive as the exterior.

By comparison, the Model Y has a listed 106 cu. ft. of passenger volume and 72.1/30.2 cu. ft. of cargo volume behind the front seats/back seats. Tesla’s volume figures are exaggerated so maybe 101 and 65/25 cu. ft. of passenger and cargo volume is more likely.
    • Model Y provides an estimated 101 cu. ft. of passenger volume and 65/25 cu. ft. of cargo volume behind the front/rear seats
    • Mach-E provides 101.1 cu. ft. of passenger volume and 59.7/29.7 cu. ft. of cargo volume behind the front/rear seats
    • Ioniq 5 provides 106.5 cu. ft. of passenger volume and 59.3/27.2 cu. ft. of cargo volume behind the front/rear seats
    • EV6 provides 103 cu. ft. of passenger volume and 50.2/24.4 cu. ft. of cargo volume behind the front/rear seats
Where the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV really stands out vs competitors is its price. All Equinox EV prices listed below include D&H.

    2LT/3LT - $43,295/$45,295
    2RS/3RS - $44,795/$46,795

By comparison, the Ioniq 5, EV6, and Model Y are more expensive on a trim-to-trim basis. Mach-E is the 2024 models with $s on the hood.

    2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E (all prices include $1,995 D&H and $8,000 rebate)

    Premium (RWD/AWD) - $40,995/$43,995
    GT AWD - $48,995

    2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 (all prices include $1,475 D&H)

    SE - $48,125
    SEL - $51,075
    Limited - $55,775

    2025 Kia EV6 (all prices include $1,395 D&H)

    Light RWD/AWD - $47,345/$51,245
    Wind FWD/AWD - $50,095/$53,995
    GT RWD/AWD - $54,295/$58,995

    2025 Tesla Model Y (all prices include $1,390 D&H and $250 order fee(s))

    LR RWD/AWD - $46,630/$49,630
    Performance AWD - $53,130

Only the 2024 Mustang Mach-E can match or beat the Equinox EV on price – both are year-old models, and the Mach-E has $8k on the hood.

A new year and finally a refreshed design may help slow the sales slide?

Through all of 2024, Stellantis took the largest hit with not just the sales decline but in lockstep, the market share falloff of 1.6% shows how poorly it performed last year.

Mazda's 0.4% and GMs 0.3% increase were well deserved.

With 20 years’ worth of US Automotive sales data to rely upon, 2024's US Automotive Sales of 15.92 million units increased by 2.5% over the 15.53 million sold in 2023. That total was the highest achieved since Covid decimated the global economy back in 2020. The 2024 US sales totals were unfortunately nowhere near the 17 million plus unit peaks in 2005 and 2015 - 2019. Estimates to reach 16.5 million in 2024 are to me a bit optimistic as Government downsizing – Government employment disappearing, is going to be a noticeable drag on consumer spending and the second largest purchase decision most make is not going to be immune.
