Recent new member in one of the Hyundai forums joined to lament the fuel economy of his new (probably new to him) Elantra hybrid. He was saying it's at around 28mpg. He did go on to talk about letting the car warm up for an extended period of time before driving, and that commutes are in the 2 to 8 mile range. Overall usage is maybe 90% "in town" and 10% "highway". He says he is using the heater on just about every trip. Other than the 90% city travel, every other data point he included is going to hurt fuel economy in any hybrid. He's located in Stow, OH - northeast of Akron and southeast of Cleveland. Are there any CleanMPG members who are not-too-far from the northeast quadrant of Ohio and well versed in how to make a modern hybrid vehicle really sing? It might be interesting to set up a clinic and then do a writeup afterward as we have done here in the past.
