The Youtube channel named Car Confections posted a video 11/8/24. The channel features two brothers who drive various cars and share their thoughts and opinions. The content is usually light on technology, spending lots of time sharing mostly reformatted press release content. The brothers bought themselves a 2025 Camry Hybrid XSE as a long term tester about six months ago. For the video, they set up a hypermiling challenge between the two brothers and a third friend who joined in. They mapped out a 20 mile route through the southwest quadrant of Lexington, KY. It's a mix of traffic and higher speed steady-state. Each driver shared his strategy for goosing the final mpg result. The three drivers ended up at 52.2, 63.3, and 65.5. It's not stellar but not bad for a hybrid rated at 47. They all beat the EPA number, so they can accurately state they were hypermiling. Anybody spending time reading and learning at CleanMPG would easily destroy these numbers. But I salute these content providers for devising, executing, and publishing this test. Too many Youtube auto-centric channels spend their press-car time racing around and lamenting any vehicle that takes more than five seconds to accelerate to 60mph. Link -
Another review I saw recently recommended the LE because it has 16 inch tires. Wonder if they checked tire pressure? My 2022 will kick the ICE on sometimes if HVAC is on, so I turn fan off if I'm at a stoplight. I've also seen on highway via my SG ICE will be on but car uses battery as well and GPH will drop to .24 or so. I find GPH as useful as instant MPG.
Hi Thunderstruck: Any of these new large wheel/tire "designs" are terrible for ones pocket book. Both at every refuel and again at tire replacement. Wayne
I don't know why they don't offer nice insulated driving cars that save at the pump. If I want a Camry with double pane glass I have to buy the one with monster truck wheels. And I don't want to have to get Dynamatte put in, I want it already there. Just because I want to use less gas doesn't mean I want to suffer. I'd like the quiet of my RS6 with the economy of my Camry, even if it has 400 less horsepower. And instead of using AI for memes, let's use it to design solid state batteries for hybrids and EV's.
