5th Gen Toyota Prius Sets GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for Highest MPG from Coast-to-Coast

Why don't other companies that are behind on the hybrid EV curve just license the technology from Toyota? I can't see them spending millions of dollars now to catch up to Toyota, Ford, Honda, Hyundai/Kia, ..., even GM had something great in the Volt.

Toyota's HSD technology is used in Toyota and Lexus vehicles. It was first introduced on the Prius, and has also been adapted for the hydrogen-powered Mirai and a plug-in hybrid version of the Prius.

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 will be using the HSD powertrain out of the Camry/RAV4 - 2.5L engine and eCVT, plus additional electric motor on the rear axle for eAWD.
One Youtube review I saw mentioned the CX-50 will have the 4th gen HSD and not the 5th gen HSD they're dropping into the 2025 Camry. EPA on the CX-50 hybrid is 39/37 and 38 combined. Right in line with the Tucson Blue HEV.
Nissan is finally admitting they misread the market and how fast the HEV/PHEV segment would grow. Might be time for them to renew their relationship with Toyota to give us a new ElectRogue that would compete with the CX-50 and RAV4 HEVs.

It's nice to see Mazda finally arriving at the HEV party, even if they are bit late.
But will their own hybrids have Zoom Zoom ?
