Wow, that's fast deterioration. Do you suppose it was UV radiation or something else? I have some tires well past their expected use by date and they are still good looking. I still have to dispose of them since the compatible car has been sold. I'll sell the alloy wheels and leave it up to the buyer what they want to do. Disposal cost is minimal.

Are the tires 3 years old or are the tires ON a car that is 3 years old? Sometimes, supposedly some "new" tires are sold as new, but the tire manufactured date can show tires are many years older.

Sunday 1:22 PM Central. STILL no rain , thank you.
I tried to fill up at the same pump at the BP in Chesterton. It wouldn't stay on,
even on the slowest setting. It may have taken almost eight gallons, but I quit trying
after 4.6 gallons. So I didn't bother to reset the tripmeter for the tank.
From Chesterton to Bloomfield Hills, about 20 miles of driving while I was there, back
to Chesterton and then home : 590.9 miles, fcd = 72.1 MPG.

11:40AM.....Earlier for breakfast, I had the remains of a can of vegetable soup, with a portion of canned corn AND some fire-roasted tomatoes. It was good!
Went for a walk before the heat really started cooking. A solar cooker would work nicely today. Less than an hour after returning from my walk, I had an early lunch.....the vegetable soup was gone, but I got the remains of the corn & fire-roasted tomatoes. Very good.....again! Polishing lunch off with some fruit cocktail. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm making my doctor happy, anyhow.

PS.....Just saw another woman taking garbage to the disposer. As other women have, she held a baby in her other arm, doing double duty. I did note she was very well balanced. :p

1:55PM.....Walked to the Senior Center before it got too hot, even as high as 90degF. The lunch was OK, but served cold because of the heat. Of course, it had my doctor-NOT-allowed beef & cheese sandwich. I did take the cheese off the beef that I liked. The peaches were good, too. Preparing to walk home, there was one left-over lunch remaining that I took. Got home, it had no beef & cheese sandwich, which was good, but also had no peaches. It did have 3 helpings of peas/cheese salad. But I love peas & cheese salad, so will enjoy what the doctor would frown at me for eating.

My 1300 miles of walking in the last year, has been of tremendous help to me after my heart attack, now losing 35 pounds.

PS, 6PM.....Didn't get the hottest temperature of the day, but at 6PM, the temp is still holding at 91degF. Did get 3.6 miles of walking, tho. During the hottest of the day, the latter bottomland walk was dramatically less than the 90+ degF reported. If not, I wouldn't have gotten the last 1.6miles of walking. Thank the bottomland.

    7-8-24:
7:15AM....For breakfast, having more of my peas/cheese from the Senior Center. Very good. Temp is thought to get to 92degF, which is a bit cooler than predicted yesterday for the Salish Sea(Puget Sound). Should get an early morning walk in the bottomland.....if I was vigorous. Will walk to the Senior Center tho. We'll see. For Wednesday, on-shore cooling may limit temps to mid-80's.

PS....Without A/C, I had fans going, with a large metal container with a block of ice in front. My "swamp cooler" helped. Oh, yeah. I have really tiny "Arctic coolers" which help if placed in my face & I don't move around. Had to really fill my ice cube trays. Between the bottomland & my coolers, I hope to beat the heat....at least if it stays below mid-90's.

PS I....8:55AM...Did take the bottomland walk. Very nice...& cool. UPDATE to the river eagle nest. Think one of the mature Bald Eagles died. Have no idea if there had been any chicks in the nest, unlike the 2 chicks last year raised to flight. The remaining mature Bald Eagle hung around the nest for a while. ANYHOW, later an immature Bald Eagle started sitting on the nest. Looking with binoculars, I thought the immature might have been maturing, because I saw white patches on its body (but not white on its head or tail). A mature Bald Eagle started hanging around(maybe not the original nester?). Once about 4 days ago, I saw both the immature & mature Bald Eagles on the nest together. Well, that's my update.

12:30PM....Got the SC walk too, but didn't get the lunch. In the increasing heat, it was nice to get 3.3miles in, before the boiling really starts. I've lost 35 pounds now. I think the weight loss helps to cope with the heat. Feeling very good. So far, the apt. 20 inch fan is nice. Hope not to have to get the big ice out till 4PM. Hey, started one of the mini "Arctic Coolers" & turned off the 20 inch fan. Its a bit quieter, less breezy & just as cool. Later, I added some ice cubes to the little bit of water in the "Arctic Cooler". Yes, I can feel that the "Arctic Cooler" is cooler. For anyone without A/C, these "Arctic Coolers" do work, if you can be right in front of them. Get 12 of them & spread them around the house for everyone in the house. Get lots of ice cube trays, too.....lots of trays. Got one blowing right on my chest. Its almost cool & my arms are chilly.

5PM.....Whoa! Temp was supposed to get to 92degF, but latter afternoon, its 95degF! Yes, its hot right now. The little "Arctic Cooler" isn't cool or chilly anymore.
Oh, with both the 20" fan w/ICE & the little "Arctic Cooler" with ICE, its OK.

Cooling coming for tomorrow, down to 85degF & Thursday, down to 80degF.

PS, 7:50PM....It says its cooled to 82degF. But, inside the apt., it feels plenty hot. Down the apt. stairs to where the next apt. unit shades me, its considerably cooler. Then I walked to the eastern side of my apt. unit, which borders on the trees leading into the bottomland, its even cooler. Having some pasta with tomato sauce now & will take my 3rd walk today, into the cooler, if not cool bottomland.
Have the 20 inch fan w/ICE & the small "Arctic Cooler" with ICE & its pretty good.

PS, 9:10PM....Gee, got another walk in, on this hot day. In the bottomland, it is almost cool. All added up, 4.9 miles today. Alright.

The Pacific Northwest is being dominated by the vast, long-term(?) heatwave over the western US, altho a bit cooler, of course. Today, temperature will be 80-81degF, with later days into the mid-80's. We'll see. Temperature predictions seem to be tending towards under-estimates.

PS, 2:15PM....Prediction now states that days ahead will be over the mid-80's with next Wednesday temperatures to 88degF.

Tho temps in the Salish Sea(Puget Sound) region are said to get toward the mid-80's & Wednesday's prediction has been reduced to 86degF, today's temperature got a jump on the rest of the week, now 87degF.

Yesterday, I thought I was making a mix of tomato soup & diced tomatoes. After opening up the cans, I realized the "tomato soup" was just tomato sauce. I tried the mistaken mix & it wasn't very good. A bit later, I did add some tomato soup, Italian Seasoning & pepper to the bad mix & it improved a little. Left a little of the remains for today. Given a day of aging, it made just an OK lunch. But I did follow up the tomato mix with heated frozen mixed vegetables, which are very good. So I followed up two poor lunches with a topping of good mixed vegetables. All right!

I have a loaner 2025 Lexus UX300h. MPG in the low 50s easily with AC on for the drive home from the dealership and some later errands. (no highway)

Did a 50 mile highway round trip today with wife and dog plus 4 cases of 40 pack half liter water bottles on the return. 45 MPG. And the AC was on the whole time plus during 20 minutes of (hybrid) idling at BJ's as wife and dog waited in the heat. Nice car.

Yeah, tho they were predicting mid-80's for the next week, max daily temps were 87degF yesterday & today may get to 87degF. As I've been saying lately, our Salish Sea(Puget Sound) region predictions have been slightly under-estimated.

PS, 3:50PM.....Oh, temperature went up to 88degF. That ain't mid-80's!
