Oh, a new thread we can mark up! Alright.
Early & earlier in the day, I watched the Austrian Formula 1 race & later the Portland, Oregon Formula E(electric car) race. After close qualifying laps, still Max Verstappen & Redbull started in 1st place & Lando Norris & McLaren in 2nd place. At race start tho, Max put Lando in the arrears & was many seconds ahead. Later however, Max stopped for new tires, the hard compound. As with other race teams, the hard compound tires weren't performing well this race. Toward the end of the race, Norris got near Max. Lando couldn't pass Max, but was able to wreck both the Redbull & McLaren cars. George Russell, in 3rd place, inherited the win.
As for the Formula E race, Antonio Felix Da Costa(Porsche) won the race, winning the last 3 races AND 4 of the last 5 races! Even Antonio has been over-whelmed by his good luck, skill &/or team engineering of late.

Having some Penne Pasta with some canned Del Monte Tomato Sauce. The Del Monte may not be as good as Prego. But, I added some pepper & parsley flakes & it is pretty good.

1PM.....Cloudy, but a nice warmish walk to the Senior Center today. Instead of eating the SC lunch tho, I came home & had one of the TV dinners the Senior Center distributes. The beef stew TV dinner is really really nice, considerably better than most store-bought TV dinners, including Swansen & Mariah Callender's. With the beef stew is mashed potatoes, on which you can put some of the beef stew gravy. Very very good. Finally, dessert is very tasty peach crisp.

PS.....Now, there is lots of blue sky & puffy white clouds.

Today it's 66 deg F in Naperville and 67 in Elk Grove.

    Wind SE 9

I took the scenic route today, which is shorter in distance, but
takes more time. And it's pretty close to the way I go home on
days that I work out in Naperville. 31.6 miles, fcd = 57.0 MPG

I also filled up at my Shell in Naperville at Ogden and Raymond.
$3.899 = they haven't jacked it up for the holiday yet.
    425.3 miles , 8.753 gallons. Fcd = 54.0 MPG (new record).

I'm assuming (hoping) that the price of fuel will be lower than that
when I fill up the Elantra Wednesday morning in Chesterton IN.

I think my Michigan trip will include a lot of rain, both ways, so
I'm not expecting any record fuel economy. It should be approx 650
miles round trip. I just drive safely and do the best I can. Because most
of the I-94 part is PSL 70, my target speed is 60 mph.

    7-1-24:
The weather has clicked over. Looks like great weather for at least the first half of July, with temperatures into the the 80's AND as high as 94degF on Sunday.
Tho I've reduced the lengths of my bottomland walks since my heart attack, the weather may encourage me to walk earlier in the bottomland more, if just to stay a little cooler.

PS.....Now they say Sunday will be 92degF.

    Happy Independence Day.

Since my doctor separated me from all the "good" food, this Fourth of July has me eating canned Lakeside peas from Wisconsin, which are wonderful. Wow, don't tell my doctor, but I did add a trace (yes, just a trace) of butter.....& pepper too. I do have a can of Barq's Root Beer. Yeah, I have to drink that sometime today. What a celebration!
Wow, now I will have to go for a walk to balance....."my celebration". Oh, yeah.....I'll get my protein by eating some peanut butter too. Just an excellent meal.....oh, well....

PS, 1:40PM.....Walk was excellent! Blue sky & just the right temperature.

10:40PM.....Fireworks are going off....big time! Now fireworks are banned in our apt complex, but fireworks are going off just outside the complex property lines. Of course, some works are so big, you can feel the percussion shockwaves. But now, one firework was so big, the shockwave even rocked our building! I thought some car ran into our bldg. Whoa!
So I joined in with all this excitement. What did I do? Well, I took my evening's.....heart medications! Oh, yeah. Took another scoop of peanut butter. Such excitement!

5PM......Had veggies & canned soup earlier. Later, some pears. Now some pasta with some tomato sauce.
Two days ago, I said the temperature would get to 94degF by Sunday. Later, I said the prediction was lowered to 92degF. Now, they say Sunday will be 90degF. Also, they say it will get to 94degF by Tuesday. See, see....the weather predictors ARE CORRECT.....if you don't pay attention to the days they predict.

    7-5-24:
The prediction of 94degF for Tuesday, is still on.
Curious predictions later in the week. Wednesday will drop 9degF to 85degF & Thursday will drop 6degF to 79degF. However, Friday thru Sunday, will stabilize to a high of 81degF for all days. & the following Monday prediction will be a tight 82degF & Tuesday will also be tight at 80degF. I wonder if the stabilized temperature has anything to do, with the High Pressure zone over the Western United States becoming supposedly stationary? We’ll see. We’ll really really see.

Yesterday, went to youngest daughter’s house to go in tandem to a garage for an MOT test. Left her car there and went back to her house. Cut her grass, assembled some outdoor seating, put up an outdoor clock and then garage rang to say her car didn’t pass the test due to cracks in the sidewalls of her 3 year old tires :(. No time to change them as they only do a half day on a Saturday so left car there and will collect it Monday evening. Called in at a shop on the way home:
