A wild aerodynamic pkg. and massively upgraded drivetrain and chassis is ready to tackle the “Race to the Clouds”. Wayne Gerdes – CleanMPG – May 31, 2024 2024 Ford F-150 Lighting SuperTruck Ford Performance revealed its F-150 Lightning SuperTruck EV ahead of testing next week as it returns to the world-famous Pikes Peak. Romain Dumas, current Pikes Peak International Hill Climb record holder, will pilot the F-150 SuperTruck at the main event on June 23, 2024. Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck Details The Ford Performance Motorsports EV takes its inspiration from the F-150 Lightning and is developed in partnership with STARD. The vehicle’s aerodynamic features were designed to reach 6,000 lbs of downforce at 150 mph, integral for its efforts at Pikes Peak. The Ford F-150 Lightning Switchgear is still based on a production Lightning platform and enhanced with a bolstered suspension, carbon composite panels, skid plates and more to expand the limits and expectations of EVs. On the drivetrain front, the Pikes Peak program will include wide open software calibration and new battery cell chemistry for production vehicles. In 2023, Ford's Electric SuperVan 4.2 set a new Open Class record at Pikes Peak with an 8:47.682 ET in the 20km course. I suspect that record will be broken later this month with Ford’s SuperTruck. 2024 Ford Transit SuperVan The last one worked out extremely well. I suspect this one will turn out even better!
Maybe the word "elevation" should be replaced with the word "altitude" & drivers replaced with pilots. ha ha ha. If the aerodynamic Ford downforce parts were replaced with lifting wings & propellors, also getting rid of the heavy wheels & tires, they would have an electric airplane. Call it safety measures, if the Ford missed a corner & flew off a cliff. Airplanes land on Freeways. It's about time, land vehicles take off from roads & into the air. Aircraft(or land) electric motors have the same HP at all...."altitudes".
Kanji lettering would make it faster, all all the kids with their Corollas with wings like that know.
Hi All: Even with an electrical issue and a 26-second stop to reboot, Ford's F-150 Lightning SuperTruck killed it! F-150 LIGHTNING SUPERTRUCK CLAIMS KING OF THE MOUNTAIN AT PIKES PEAK Yesterday, Ford's F-150 Lightning SuperTruck made the fastest pass of all 61 competitors at the 102nd running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with Romain Dumas behind the wheel. The fastest time up the mountain was in 8:53.553 which was completed by the SuperTruck. This is the second straight year Ford Performance found success with an electric vehicle demonstrator at Pikes Peak, following SuperVan 4.2 in 2023. Taken during the "Race to the Clouds". This result comes just days after the truck set a new qualifying record for the open class with a time of 3:32.831, more than seven seconds faster than the previous record of 3:39.939 set by the Ford Performance SuperVan 4.2 in 2023. Driver Romain Dumas overcame a technical issue during the climb, coming to a complete stop on the course. That stop added about 26 seconds compared to his initial qualifying time. Quick thinking from Dumas helped to minimize the issue, as the Frenchman completely reset the 1,600-horsepower F-150 Lightning SuperTruck and continued his climb. The construction of the Ford Performance F-150 Lightning SuperTruck was a testament to the power of collaboration. STARD (Stohl Advanced Research and Development) played a crucial role in helping create the 1,600-horsepower truck. SuperTruck was also equipped with top-of-the-line Sparco racing harnesses and safety equipment and Pirelli P-Zero tires, ensuring its stability on the challenging mountain roads. Wayne
See, see, I told you! Trucks....airplanes...interchangeable! The P-38 was called the Lightning. & it wasn't even powered by electricity. Lots of WWII fighter planes had 1600 HP, even the light-weight end-of-WWII late versions of the Zero. The P-47 had as much as 2800HP. Future electric trucks have something to aim for.
Not quite what you were going for... https://www.komatsu.com/en/products/trucks/electric-drive-mining-trucks/980e-5/
