    No problem Bill :D

We went to a christening in Redditch today, a decent trip, called in at a service station both ways around the 50 mile point plus a supermarket for lunch before the ceremony. Went to a village hall after for a party - quite a long day!

Excellent trip stats. Is "called in" similar to reserving?

12:20PM....Me, with the rain coming down? I'll make a short day...... going back to bed & wait the rain out. Meanwhile for lunch, I made a little Penne pasta, added some tomato sauce, pepper & crushed celery seeds. Tastes quite good. I'm surprised & recommend crushed celery seeds added to your meal.

PS,2:50PM....Continuous rain, which may stay for 4 more hours. Still, a lot of people walk in the parking lot without an umbrella.

PS I, 3:45PM.....Well, the continuous rain that was predicted to continue for 4 hours, didn't & has stopped. New predictions show decreasing rain. I don't think it can be called predicting, if the "prediction" comes AFTER the weather change. :p ha ha ha

    6-2-24:
6-3-24, 4:10AM, 56degF.....We're getting what they call "2 atmospheric rivers" in "June-uary". Right now its raining pretty good, but it's been stopping once in while, so may not be as bad as it could be. Also without the 60+degF temperature rains, it may not be melting snow like it has in the past. Finally, the snow probably has crusted enough, that it would NOT melt as readily as fresh snow, if the time was back in the beginning or end of the winter. Therefore, the cute words & phrases may not be causing as much real concern as the wordplay, themselves. But, I'm always concerned about bottomland farmers & ranchers. I do have to get down to the river & see how much the river is up. Raining its hardest right now. Sure glad I don't have to work in it, anymore. I'm expecting 4 feet(more?) of river rise for the bottomland. We'll see.

This morning, I'm having more Penne pasta, canned corn, & tomato sauce. I added the usual pepper, but also added Poppy seeds. Tastes somewhat different from the crushed Celery seeds I used previously.

PS, 4:05PM.....Pretty windy today. 15 to 25MPH. At times the trees were bending strongly. Was driving North at 40MPH. The shadows from clouds thousands of feet in the air, were passing me, traveling 50 to 60 MPH on the road in front of me.

Heatwave in Illinois! We're chillin' in the low 50's here on the Salish Sea(Puget Sound).....& plenty of rain. But, the future is promising some sunshine on Wednesday & Thursday.

We were in the high 80s yesterday when I left work at 2:30.
Heck, I almost turned on the A/C in the Fit.

I was correct.....heatwave in Illinois. I would have had the Elantra A/C on, well before high 80's.

I got my nephew a new Chevy Trax last weekend - same as the one I got for his sister last winter but this one is Crimson Red. Driving home from the dealer on Saturday, he got just over 49mpg in mostly highway driving - not bad with an EPA of 28/32. I told him to snap the picture of the mpg result from his daily commute, which has a little more in-town driving.

2025 Chevy Trax 2RS with 158 miles on the clock, tires at 35/35, gentle daily commute - 40% over EPA

This is the guy who was getting 32mpg combined in the 2005 LeSabre using DWB/DWL and timing the heck out of the lights. I think he's going to start out in the 40s and shoot for the 50s with a little more air in the tires and getting used to the car and how to wring it out.

The trip to the office this morning - 18.2 miles - ended at 61.6 on the fcd. Temp is a nice 68F
Last night, heading home, I ended at 80.9 on the fcd over 19.3 miles at a sunny 70F.

Around this area, you see a large proportion of pickup trucks - the four door short bed pimp version with 20+ inch alloy wheels that is ill-equipped to do actual work - and the mid and full size SUV models. When you stop at a light during the commute and look over to see some nondescript sitting there in a thousand-a-month lease queen and wonder how much they're spending on gas, it's hard to feel sorry for them. They're the ones that signed the papers and drove it home. Oh well, I guess the one claim to fame - that "it's good in snow" - is a must-have attribute in an area that hasn't gotten a good snow storm in about four years now.

Snow is a ( minor) problem for me maybe twice a year. And that's only because the guy who's supposed to be
shoveling my driveway is a lazy SOB. So....probably won't be pulling the trigger on that $70K pickup anytime soon.
