Like your posting of national gas prices.......except they remind me of the skyhigh prices in my western Washington state.

Well....the weather has been good up to now, but rain is falling at 5:13PM PDT, looks to continue tonight....& tomorrow morning....& may tame down tomorrow afternoon. We'll see. Anyhow, I'm driving to the church dinner tonight. Not even going to try walking with my umbrella. & that's coming from someone who has 500 miles on his tennis shoes the last 4 months. I think the dinner will be good.

    From October 29, 2023:
Texas Rangers & Arizona Diamondbacks have each won a World Series game, assuring at least a 5 game Series. That's good. I like it, when teams win 3 games each, so play-off Series go 7 games. I love it best when rich Yankees & Atlanta AREN'T in contention, & poorer teams ARE playing....DAVID & GOLIATH, ya know.
    /////////
The Diamondbacks ran into the Texas Roadrunners & died. Rangers ran the rest of the World Series, winning 4-1. Texas beat Arizona yesterday, 11-7, altho the score thru the 8th INNING was 11-1. Today for this final game, Arizona had lots of base runners in scoring position, but Texas pitchers & infielders came through, freezing all Arizona baserunners on the bases, the final score, 5-0. Shortstop Corey Seager was the World Series MVP, even after popping up for outs numerous times. However, tuning UP his bat, he connected with three home runs(two for gamewinners), the three, NEVER hit before by World Series shortstops. Of course, he had a good vacuum cleaner, out at shortstop, too.

    From October 12, 2023-Daily Grind:
Now that we know the Chevy Bolt (for 2025?) will have an Ultium battery, I am concerned. One blurb I read, the Ultium Chevy Bolt EV will be more powerful. Will that mean the electric motor might be bigger & the Bolt may be longer?
As I've said, one reason I want the Bolt EV is that currently, it qualifies for the Washington state Ferry Service "short vehicle discount". If the new Bolt gets longer & no longer qualifies for the discount, I could lose $1000 in discounts(more?). The 2025 new Bolt EV could be as long as the current Chevy Bolt EUV, which doesn't qualify for the discounts.
    /////////
I just read an InsideEV report from October, that the "new" Chevy Bolt for 2025 may be based on the Chevy Bolt EUV, not the EV! That would eliminate the Bolt from the Washington state Ferry Service "short vehicle discount", just what I feared might happen. We'll see. Oh, yeah, the EUV is uglier than the EV. Oh, well.

    From yesterday:
At 5:38am PDT this morning, the rain continues. I guess its been raining thru the night. Predictions are that rain will turn to showers, then rain AND finally will be lessening chances of rain. We'll see when(if) the rain stops today & whether the prediction comes out exactly. Might be able to walk the bottomland to the Senior Center for noon lunch. Will carry the umbrella. The prediction is fairly specific. The Salmon run is drawing to an end, with fewer fish seen yesterday.

News update whether I get soaked going to the SC or not. Ha ha ha

Got a box of Maypo & ate some this morning. Haven't had Maypo since I was a kid. I can't remember well, but didn't it have a more maple flavor. The ingredients on the package only mentions quick oats. The cartoon character, Marky Maypo, that was in the TV commercials is still on the box. From Wikipedia, Marky Maypo more than doubled sales for Maypo & in some markets tripled. "I want my Maypo".

PS.....At 6:13am, PDT, the rain is decreasing, altho a fine rain looks like it could soak you, if you were out in the weather for a while.

PS 1....At 6:30am, PDT, back to rain.....me, I'm going back to bed....& dream about Marky Maypo.
Now at 11:30am, PDT, am at the SC, arriving with no rain. Should be a good walk home.

I want my Quaker "Instant Grits" ,but I don't think they sell it anymore.

I saw a small amount of Grits for sale in the walk-to grocery store nearby. If I remember, next time I'm there, I'll look at grits in more detail. Quaker, among its new & updated products, still sells "Old Fashioned Oatmeal". The OF Oatmeal is still the best. Forty years ago, I remember "another brand" oatmeal, that sold much cheaper & I really liked it. At one point, I read the label closely & I think Quaker made it, along with "Quaker Oats". I saved lots of money on oatmeal. But, the " brand" disappeared, & I never bought the more expensive Quaker Oats.

PS....At 9:18am, PDt, its still raining fairly hard. Still predicting less rain, so I'll get my umbrella & hope to walk to the Senior Center, if it does decrease.
Went the bottomland to the SC. No rain, but a wind was really blowing leaves off the trees. Altho cloudy, I could tell the bottomland was brighter than it might be, because there were fewer leaves at the tree tops to block light. Before I left the bottomland, gusts really blew through the 100+ foot tree tops. As I emerged from the bottomland, I met a group of children on an outing. I told the adults the group shouldn't enter the bottomland. They said they were going to stay near the river only & wouldn't proceed into the bottomland.

Went to the Senior Center. Had an excellent lunch, but NOT at the SC. On the way back to the apt., it was quite warm. Think the wind brought a warm weather system in.

PS.....Final walk of the day to the bottomland. Stream & river were flowing fast & up 2 to 3 feet from the rain. Probably washed out a lot of the spawn. Hope some survived. Out to the river & many seagulls were rafting down the river.....like all the people did up to some weeks before. However, the Seagulls picked at whatever was edible in the water. At different points in their rafting, they would fly out of the water & glide back upriver, settle & raft some more.

Supposed to get as high as 59degF today under cloudy skies, but little chance of rain. So I'll get a bottomland walk to the Senior Center, without having to step around too many puddles. As I said yesterday, rains caused the river & stream to come up somewhat, but there was no flooding.

PS.....What the rains did do was start 2 sloughs flowing. One slough starts at an upper level of the river & flows all the way to the stream. I always wondered if major flooding could deepen this slough, so it became a permanent arm of the river. In effect, the stream would be "shortened" & the entire bottomland I walk would become an island between the arms of the river.
As for the other slough that started flowing, it starts below the first slough, proceeds to an half-century abandoned dyked up railline & then back to the river.
Temperature has reached a cloudy 60degF., altho spots of sun briefly poke threw the over-cast.

Rain. Might be rain for some days ahead. Took the Elantra to church breakfast this morning. Of course, as I was driving, the rain lessened. I could have walked with the umbrella AND not even used the umbrella coming back to the apt. But if I had walked, it would have poured. Might be decreasing rain this afternoon, so maybe I'll get my walk in the bottomland yet.

PS.....In the house I used to occupy, you could tell it was raining by the sound on the roof. If I have the curtains drawn in this apt., you can't hear the rain falling on the roof. Sometimes I'm surprised when I do draw the curtains open & I see the rain.
Anyhow, there is no World Series now, so I'll.......go back to bed. Its great to be retired, & not to have to work in the rain. Retirement....its much of what it is cracked up to be.

PS 1....Nice afternoon & got a walk to the bottomland. Yeah, yeah, half way thru my walk, it began to rain....just a little bit. The weather-gods told me, "We know where you are".

& yeah, yeah....I'm comfy in the apt. right now, no rain & the sky is clear with a nice sunset coming.

I got 2 nice walks, totaling 5.4 miles today, altho the Senior Center was closed. Got an excellent binocular sighting of a Varied Thrush. Look them up. In the same type of bird as the Robin, the VT was a very delightful, colorful & very healthy example. Even in November, he was feasting on red sticker-tree berries. Hope he didn't get drunk! Yes, got an unusually long view of him & he was gorgeous. Also, I saw a black crow, that had some white spots on him. I've seen other mis-colored crows in our area. All the mis-colored crows were healthy, so I'm sure they are just variations.
At 9:20PM, PST, its raining & might be mostly rain till at least thru Tuesday.

I didn't have to drive the car at ALL Sunday. That was great.
I rode the motorcycle to go out to breakfast and Farm and Fleet afterwards.
Yes, because I live on the edge of civilization I only need to go about 5 miles west
to find a Farm and Fleet, aka Kowboy K-Mart. Also , OI filled up the Grom.
Too much glare from sun to top it off accurately , and it was hard to modulate the
pump flow with my left (weak) hand , but at least I didn't overfill. The Grom fcd
read 179 MPG. Went for a bike ride later in the afternoon.

Hi Bill , My left hand sometimes has some arthritis. MY right hand is
usually great , but strength in my hands is not what it was ten years ago.
I had pulled up on the wrong side of the pump, If I chose the other side ,
I would hav been protected from glare AND been able to use my right hand.
These darned pumps are meant for gas guzzlers ( all cars ).

I wondered because I couldn't see a situation where either hand would be precluded from use. That pump design must have been horrible.

I’ve had arthritis for 19 years. Couple of years ago, I started Meloxicam(sp?). For a small pill & low dose, it’s been good.

When I fill up a motorcycle that has no centerstand, I am sitting on it so
it will be level, making it easier to see the level of fuel as it nears the top.
Mist pumps today are not designed for smooth operation.

Raining now, but predictions are for less chance of rain. So I may get my walk thru the bottomland to the Senior Center today. Looks to be a good lunch coming.

PS....Hours later, nearly 9am, PST, rain has stopped AND I see the sunlit ridge to the west & blue skies. The bottomland walk to the Senior Center looks to be good, as well as a good lunch, too, tho there still are rain clouds overhead. I still see lots of Canada Geese in formation flight, but NOT moving south. I think I'm seeing resident Geese, not Geese that will fly south. Predictions are for a warmer Winter season in our Northwest.....altho someone told me that Farmer's Almanac says otherwise.

Well.....Tuesday was cloudy, but wasn't rainy after early morning. It appears forecasts can be fairly accurate for the next day. But, even 2 days ahead can be iffy.
