The Department of Justice has sued Ebay for selling Rolling Coal devices that mount on diesel vehicles, which interfere with proper air pollution equipment on the vehicles. The penalties could reach $2 billion. Because the air is so densely diesel polluted, Ebay won't be able to see their $2 billion flying away.
I would expect that from ne'er-do-wells on auto websites..........oh, this IS an auto website......oh, Edwin! PS....More seriously, individuals with breathing difficulties can sue coal-rollers bigtime & in court, are justified to claim assault to their health, which ain't gonna be hard to prove. Yes, assault by pollution is no "boys will be boys" scenario. Also, the dense smoke is a visibility safety hazard on the highway. Any case where people die in a purposefully-caused pollution traffic crash.....yeah, murder charges would be in play. One manufacturerer of coal rollers has been sued for $1 million. Even at that, the penalties are way too small, & the fines could skyrocket much higher in the future.
Of course, we can. Hundreds of big fines, some criminal cases if worse AND the worst happens, & banning equipment will solve things. Tesla & other vehicle Sentry mode videos will provide lots of evidence. With license plates next to the scene of the crime, its funny how easy it is to solve crimes.
