Not sure what my tank average is , but I can get thru Saturday's
50 mile slog and fill up Sunday morning. It's probably around 55.

People are on the march. Me....I'm watching the fog from the apt. & glad not to be traveling in it. I remember the days I used to travel in the fog to work. At times, the fog was only 30 feet deep, but I would be solidly in it for 15 miles. Hated it. Then the rises before the work place, let me break out of the fog.....just in time to park the car at work.

Supposed to get hot. Tomorrow, 80+degF temps are predicted. It got pretty warm late yesterday, so the high temps will make for a temporary warm period.

    Welcome to the grind :D

Apologies for the late start, we are in the process of slowly moving home. Our old 5 bedroom home (with small back yard) is up for sale and our new 3 bedroom dormer bungalow (with large back yard) is our new abode.
We still have some stuff to move over but we’re taking our time!
    Downsizing!!!

Helping someone, so drove the Elantra to the Senior Center. Lunch was really superb corn chowder, finely prepared chicken sandwich, carrots, oranges & milk. Even got an extra lunch for taking to the apt. Fall colors are still weak on the indigenous trees(which they tend to be in the Autumn), but the Japanese Maples & other imported trees are excellently colorful.

Supposed to be major cooling, but I got a mid-60's warmer walk in the bottomland, so that was sweet. NOT sweet tho, are the dying Salmon. Fortunately, my sense of smell isn't good & things are tolerable. :( The sunshine makes for an excellent afternoon & might get higher than yesterday's predictions, now said to be up to 74degF. :)

Turning fall colors aren't just at the top of the trees now, but often extending the height of the trees. The ground is pixilated with lots of yellow & red (rust color here in western Washington) leaves, but the trees still are holding on to the vast majority of their foliage.

With the holiday in the US, sparse traffic allowed a better result this morning. 63.1mpg over 18.2 miles showing on the fcd. On my second week with this tank even though the temperatures are more autumn-like, showing 51F this morning.

Banks, schools, court system, government wonks including the post office. In other words, nobody we need. Banks are online and nobody goes inside except to rob them. Post office delivers nothing but pre-approved credit card offers. The court system serves no purpose other than offering a social club for cocaine-snorting ambulance chasers who drive their lease queens at close to triple the posted speed limit. Schools are just an elaborate scheme of organized babysitting gulags infested with perverts and terrorists. We don't need any of them anyway so we never perceive any difference when they are not around.

    Yes,
HOLIDAY honoring all Indigenous Tribes! Of course the honors are MANY centuries late in coming. The white races, pouring out of Europe & rooting in different places NOT theirs, made sure, NOT to be late, with their monstrous use of deathly technology, guns & explosives, AGAINST THE SAME HONORED NATIVE TRIBES, & to secure (by death-dealing & stealing) those lands…..NOT theirs.

Before 5AM this morning, it is raining, continuing our weather system of the last few days. Looks like I'll be using the umbrella going to the Senior Center again today. Lunch will be cod, roasted potatoes, veggies, apple sauce & dinner roll.....just what is needed on a wet day. October is getting its fair share of rain this year. Nightime low temperatures seem to be hanging above 50degF. No clear nights which would drive temperatures below 40degF. Wore shorts, walking to the SC yesterday & it was pleasant. Before I retired, I liked the rain in the early morning. Thought the rain might rain itself out, by the time work began. Those thoughts weren't true in western Washington state, tho. Presently, the apt. parking lots look to be nearly full. People going to work will be reducing the parking lots' populations during the morning. Not everyone is retired like me.

PS....Keeps raining fairly hard. With the umbrella, walked to the grocery store for some milk. Maybe, instead of walking with umbrella for 3 or 4 miles, I'll to take the Elantra to the SC. We'll see what the next hour is like.

PS I.....Started to walk towards the bottomland under light rain. But, it was the penetrating rain that soaks you if you stay out in it. I then, went to the Elantra & traveled to the library & SC by car. Yes, the weather gods saw that I had the car, so stopped raining. Ate a good lunch, then returned to the apt., with no rain. I could have walked the 3 or 4 miles & NOT gotten wet. However, if I had walked to the SC, the weather gods would have dumped on me. Yeah, Washington state weather is out-foxing me & not for the first time.:D

Getting up this morning, the weather appeared foggy. But, a half-hour later, the fog is lifting....surprise! Maybe the walk to the Senior Center will be nice today.

What isn't nice is the Hamas-Israeli "war" that has multi-thousand year history. With both sides doing their best to massacre civilians, missile-firing genocidal berserkers is a better description.

AAANNNNDDDDD now the fog is back. Its almost like it comes in waves.....
PS, 9AM.....AAANNNNDDD, now the fog is gone. Clear as a bell, except for a lifting fog bank 4 miles away on the 600 foot ridge. Oh, oh. I can see the lower trees on the ridge! How exciting.....NOT.

Wild traffic on the trip home earlier. Lots of accidents and sun glare. It cost an extra ten minutes of travel time but the slower speed meant better trip average...

I won't argue with that number!
The DTE calculation is out of whack on these cars, and I have to guess it's counting based on EPA numbers. Fill the tank and it shows 520 miles of range. Driving home, I covered 18.2 miles and the DTE dropped by 12. So mental math tells me that they're using the EPA number of 52 but the DTE drops by 2/3 of the actual distance. So I flip the fraction and figure the actual mpg is 3/2 of 52, or 78. Sounds about right.
