    2024 Kia EV9

But first and fresh from NY, how about a 2024 Kia EV9 preview, the brand's first three-row EV.

Developed on the now proven Hyundai/Kia E-GMP architecture, the EV9 seats up to seven with a long wheelbase and flat floor that provide comfortable flexibility. It will include over-the-air updates, Digital Key, and an Onboard Power Generator (V2L). The EV9’s standard 800V architecture enables 10 to 80 percent SOC DCFCing in under 25 minutes. The EV9 is expected to arrive in the United States in Q4 of 2023.

    2024 Kia EV9 Exterior Design

The all-electric EV9 is 197.4 in. in length, this is slightly longer than the Telluride platform from which it was derived. It is directly comparable in height (70.1 in.) and width (77.9 in.). With all three rows raised, the EV9 offers 20.2 cu. ft. of cargo volume. When both rows of rear seats are folded, volume increases to a gargantuan 81.9 cu. ft.

The boxy design language of the EV9 may not be all that attractive but its Tiger Face flanked by slim LED headlamps look great. Flush door handles with automatic deployment provide a clean profile while the slim taillamps outback are modern and flashy.

Wheel sizes of 19 to 21” will be available depending on trim. An EV9 GT-Line adds model-exclusive styling, raised roof rails, and 21” alloys. The EV9 will be available in a choice of gloss or factory matte finish paint options.

    2024 Kia EV9 Interior Design

The interior of the EV9 uses innovative materials with a new design paradigm of Color, Material and Finish (CMF). This begins with the use of non-leather polyurethane seating surfaces, select BTX-free interior trim, and select fabrics and carpets composed of partially recycled materials. From the headliner of the EV9 to a variety of high-touch areas within the cabin, these forward-thinking materials offer a tactile quality to occupants in all three rows and deliver a well-appointed cabin without the use of animal products.

Centrally mounted, hidden-until-lit haptic switches for key infotainment features appear when the EV9 is turned on. The dual-level, floating center console stretches from the first to the second row, offering under-tray stowage to front passengers and cupholders and an available sliding storage console for rear passengers. Hidden in front of the driver is an optional, full-color head-up display. An available Full Display Mirror replaces the traditional rear-view mirror with a camera view with a flick of the lower tab. <-- I get motion sick with these so be careful what you wish for… An optional 14-speaker, 708-watt Meridian Premium Audio system will blow you away. Or so I have been told. ;) The wheel can be optioned up with LED lighting illuminating the Kia logo.

Every seat is executive-class. The first and second row occupants are treated to an available “Relaxation Mode” which offers comfort with power operated leg rests, and second-row creature comforts include 8-way power adjustments enhanced with heating and ventilation. High-power USB-C outlets throughout the cabin allow for device recharging for all.

The EV9 will be available from launch in a variety of six- and seven-seat configurations. The EV9’s V2L outlet located in the cargo area can help power tailgating parties, and standard tri-zone HVAC ensures true temperature control in front and back.

Yeah, and then there is this.

    2024 Kia EV9 Technology

The EV9 features Kia’s next generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit OS. The new OS processes faster and in higher fidelity, with frequently used Quick Controls available with a swipe on the screen. The EV9 will also be the first Kia to offer “vehicle system over-the-air updates” like Tesla does as well as navigation-based charging guidance using arrival time and distance-to-empty estimates. The EV9 is designed to be a mobile power source, thanks to V2L.

The EV9 will offer a standard Digital Key which allows customers to use their Apple and Samsung smart phones or an NFC-enabled smart card as virtual vehicle keys to lock, unlock, and drive. Furthermore, these keys can be shared with friends and family over text messages on available devices.

    2024 Kia EV9 Safety

The EV9 includes an Advanced Highway Driving Assist (AHDA) - utilizes lidar-based technology, and Lane Following Assist 2 (LFA-2) systems. An available AHDA.

The EV9 includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA-2), which is designed to help reduce collision damage with a direct oncoming vehicle through audible and visual warnings, as well as by applying the brakes. Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM) are also standard.

The EV9 will also feature some of the latest features a High Beam Assist (HBA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA-2), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), Safe Exit Warning (SEW), and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC) <-- Radar CC.

An available Rear-View and Surround-View Monitor are designed to provide a wider picture in reversing and parking scenarios, using cameras around the EV9 to display a 360-degree view. Optional Remote Smart Parking Assist allows remote parking in, or exiting from, certain parking spots with the driver operating the EV9 from outside the vehicle, as well as smart parking while the driver is inside the vehicle. Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Parking Distance Warning Forward and Reverse are also standard.

    The EV9 includes 10 airbags.

    2024 Kia EV9 Drivetrain

The EV9 is the second Kia model based on the E-GMP platform, and the first to feature 4th gen battery technology designed for improved energy density. From launch, the EV9 will be available with a choice of a 76.1 kWh battery with a 215 HP motor as a RWD. An optional 99.8 kWh battery will be available in a single-motor configuration targeting 300 miles of all-electric range, or a dual-motor, 379 HP torque vectoring AWD configuration with 516 lb.-ft. of torque. The EV9 will offer four drive modes on all trims: Eco, Normal, Sport, and My Mode.

With a maximum DC charging speed of up to 230 kW, the EV9 can facilitate quick charging with compatible DC chargers, while the 11kW onboard charger enables expedient Level 2 charging, as well.

The EV9 is expected to debut in the U.S. in Q4 2023, and it is expected to be assembled in West Point, Ga., beginning in 2024, making it the first Kia EV to be assembled locally. Meaning it may qualify for the full $7,500 Fed Tax Credit when it arrives this fall.

Wayne said the EV9 is 197.4 inches in length. Oh….that makes the EV9 about 3 feet longer than the Chevy Bolt EV! That’s quite a chunk of passenger carrying space!

But the soul of EV9 seems to come from KIA Soul, & now “all growed up…..”.
Has lots of room for all (& more) of the TV advertised skeletons from the Soul.
The facing multiple rear seats look like they’re made for a larger, but still “skeleton crew” Party.

The EV9 is very slightly shorter & narrower than the Tesla X, but should be fun & maybe even a trace roomier inside. Our small Accent & both Elantras from sibling Hyundai, also took advantage of exterior dimensions for spacious interiors.

    Hi All:

    Regarding the EV9...

Los Angeles, CA – At this years LA Auto Show, the all-electric Kia EV9 was named as a finalist in the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. The EV9 was evaluated by 50 third-party jurors and named one of three finalists from among nine semi-finalists.

The all-electric EV9s rugged yet sophisticated appearance is the brands flagship SUV. The EV9 is the second Kia model based on the E-GMP platform, and the first to feature 4th-gen battery technology designed for improved energy density. The EV9 offers a choice of two powertrain options. Standard is a 76.1 KWh battery with a 160-kW (215-hp) motor that drives the rear wheels. An optional 99.8 KWh battery will be available in a single-motor configuration (201-hp), or a dual-motor, 283-kW (379-hp) all-wheel-drive configuration. The two battery sizes yield five variants: Light (short-range or long-range), Wind, Land, GT-Line.

Set to arrive in the 4th quarter of 2023, the EV9 is the brand’s flagship. With a starting MSRP of $54,9002 (excluding destination charges), the EV9 Light RWD will come standard with DC fast-charging capability, seating for up to seven passengers, 19" alloys, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat with heating and ventilation, and is rated at an EPA-estimated all-electric range of 230 miles. Assembly of the EV9 is scheduled to begin at the Kia facility in West Point, Georgia in 2024.

The winner of 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year will be announced on January 4, 2024.

Will the "skeletons" transferring over to the EV-9 from the KIA Soul, need to wear rubber-spiked sandals to keep their bony feet from slipping off the Surf Board?

I can't wait, either. Just electric bus in which all the kids can ROW or PEDAL(that's what the 4-rows are about, right?) to help generate energy to run the bus. I love that idea to put the kids to work! The kids will love it too. They'll be inside(they say kids love to be inside, now days), get some exercise & won't have to go to the playground in the heat or light rain, anymore! :p:D
