Sounds like an interesting experiment. Will you be leaving on the security system? For me, I'd leave it fully protected and remotely accessible, as well as plugging in and setting the charge-to threshold at 50%. Does Tesla allow that in the controls?

Enjoy your trip! You don't even have to contemplate SOC during that week.

I’m going to lock it in our garage plugged in. I will be able to charge it remotely if I feel like it using my charger’s app. I can set the max SOC to stop at 50% in the car or on the Tesla App. I can set it to whatever value I want - I usually leave it at 80% but seldom get it that high during a commuting week.

    Thanks Red :)

Back from Utah. Left my car at #2 daughter's house in
Bolingbrook ; much closer to Midway Airport.
Round trip to her house ( in the Fit ) 24.0 miles, fcd = 40.3 MPG.

My wife got a steering wheel strap that clicks into the seatbelt clamp to immobilize the steering of our cars, as a back-up to the standard steering lock, while parked. Needs the given key to unlock the seatbelt clamp. We can use it on our 3 cars (maybe the EV in the future). Looks like thieves with bolt cutters could cut it quickly. But, thieves seeing another thing they have to do to steal a car, might look somewhere else.
This morning, I took the Hyundai Accent to the river with the sharp 12x50mm binocular, hoping to beat reports of incoming dark clouds, rain, & possibly lightning. Wind gusts to 60MPH were also predicted, but that was for the shores on the Pacific Ocean & Straits of Juan de Fuca. Pretty quiet, altho I saw representatives of Goldeneye, Common Mergansers, Song Sparrows, & even saw a Bald Eagle flying in the area.
Returning toward the Accent, I heard what I thought was a vehicle (noisy truck?) coming from behind me. But, no vehicle came around the bend in the road. I still heard the noise & looked into the high sky, thinking there was a noisy airplane. Then looking quickly at the river, I saw a plane below the tree line, but following the winding river. The sharp optics showed possibly a modified Cessna with big tread tires, & details down to the bolts, modified flaps for better low-speed flying characteristics. The pilot had the plane coming toward me, then curving to his right to follow one of the two river channels that create the mid-river island, & then continuing to follow the river, away from me. Even with intervening bare-limbed trees flashing through the Field of View, the plane showed well. Continuing to follow the river, the plane was sweeping to the side again, but with intervening trees at different distances, interfering with the view.
With all that clattering noise now receding into the distance, I started looking around. Dark clouds were on three sides & moving into the area….& even rain falling on ever closer terrain. It was time to go home & I did.

I think you should have seen by now Hyundai's solution for the theft problem. It is apparently a software fix, but you would have to take the car to the dealership. Good luck.

No good luck on Hyundai’s “solution”. Mechanism, & software installation cost is $600+. I think the lawsuit will get them to issue a FREE recall, which should have been their “solution” from the beginning. KIA, sibling to Hyundai, is issuing steering wheel locks FREE OF CHARGE.
Meanwhile, our steering wheel strap may work for a while. I hope the Chevy Bolt, when & if I can buy it, will have better anti-theft software & mechanism. I’ll be away from the Bolt for hours at a time, while it is on L2 charging. I’ll probably carry the steering wheel strap in the Bolt, also.

My wife isn’t too concerned about our manual transmission Elantra since she thinks that manuals aren’t thief-targeted. Me……I REALLY don’t want our manual Elantra stolen. For a cheap car, the manual Elantra is superbly elegant & cherished.

For joy rides by teens, heck yes to manual transmissions. :D

Also for mountain rides by oldsters, the manual low-torque non-hybrid Elantra efficiently negotiates all slopes with lots of MPG left over. After tanking up the manual Elantra with E-0 good fuel, I saw the way home was clogged up with an accident caused back-up. So with the manual Elantra, I diverted to another direction, having to go over two 4000 foot mountain passes. In that direction I even ran into some more stop & go & stop traffic for 5 miles. With all those problems, the manual Elantra still obtained over 40MPG.

But your car's less likely to be stolen by oldsters for mountain joyrides. (I was still referring to the car theft issue, not why you enjoy your car. :p)

Drove the Fit all weekend about 90 miles.

    Fcd = 44.5.

Filled up today for the first time.
I will be able to check fcd after a full tank is burned.
That could take a while if I am only driving it on weekends.

I have the same situation with the hybrid. I switch cars every two weeks or so, and that means it takes to time rack up the miles. I gassed up the hybrid today and last time I did was about 6 weeks ago. I had to do the rock-n-nudge to burp the thing enough to get 9.5 gallons in there. Crazy to think it shouldn't need gas again until just before Easter.
After filling up this morning, the trip eastbound toward the highway was typical suburban 4-lane driving, with lots of traffic lights for practicing light timing and using gentle pulse and glide to go with the flow the lights generate. I looked down at the dash cluster while approaching the highway entrance and tank mpg to the right of the little 0-50 bar read 999 mpg. It had been rolling along those 1.3 miles without engine assist.

Chris, does the Hyundai fcd go up to 999 MPG , or are you using another device ?
I have a Scangauge in the Prius , but nothing in the Fit.

Been raining continuously the last 2 days, very lightly yesterday, more today. Must be more rain in the mtns. Took the Hyundai Accent for a drive & got eggs from our Egg Lady. Woods Creek from northern 5300foot Mt. Pilchuck was really full & coursing through its bends. I assume the Pilchuck River might have been high too. However, the Skykomish River from the east, & Snoqualmie River from the south, seemed to be handling the rain fairly well. Supposed to be some coming cold weather again, & I still have the big snow tires on the Accent. Yeah again, the big tires really make the Accent feel bigger.
For a while, I’ve been seeing roadside “farm fresh” eggs going up in price, even saw $6, $7 & even higher prices. Two years ago, I had told our Egg Lady that we would understand if she raised her prices. Belatedly, she did recently raise her prices. Still, a good price, tho. It’s not only nice to see brown eggs mixed with the white eggs, but a goodly number of green eggs, too. For about a month the chickens had stopped laying eggs due to the cold, but are laying well already this year. At times up north here, the global warming is causing chickens to lay eggs year round.

At the bottom of the cluster, there is a bar display of instant MPG ranging from 0 to 75. To the right of that is the cumulative tank average, and that will range from 0 to 999. It shows integer only once above 100, showing a digit to the right of the decimal only when the tank average us under 100. I can't bring myself to complain about it because it's the kind of complaint that most people wish they could have while they're dumping another hundred bucks in their thousand-a-month lease queen. Ten or fifteen minutes on the highway, with the engine spinning up far more often, gets the average under 100. I ended up at 68.x mpg when I reached the office.
