I have a feeling that OEM tires are made to a specific price point.

I call them " rim protectors".

    Well, they aren't hardware.
The Bridgestone mentioned were up to 70k miles.

Even if the tires are the same as the consumer ones, I suspect the new car tire warranty supercedes the ones on replacement tires.

And also recall the little data point I found a few years ago with the introduction of the Assurance Fuel Max tires as OEM on the first gen Volt. The tires with the proper TPC as factory original had only 2/3 the tread of the same tire sold at a Goodyear store. So they're pushing higher AER and higher EPA numbers by shipping new cars with what you might call "slightly shaved" tires. Sneaky!
And they wonder why people complain that OEM tires wear so quickly.

I was thinking about that, but couldn't remember the reference. Thanks!

You were right! Here's one article that lists cars that were downgraded with the newest tests.

    From Edmunds:

Which vehicles lost their Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ ratings?

The attachment says the tires are good for 75,000 miles. I have a “used” BF Goodrich that had a 70K warranty when the guy I bought it from, had purchased it. It had never been mounted until I mounted it for our Hyundai Accent. It’s got 40K on it now, & looks like it’ll go to 65K. Paid $10.

    Hi All:

The 23s are finally arriving at local dealerships. I have seen posts with new 23 XLE's and Limited's purchased in Mobile, Alabama, Redlands, California, and El Monte, California so far. The dealers have no inventory so they were definitely pre-orders and being filled as they arrive.

I know Longo Toyota in El Monte, CA charges MSRP and Zach posted that he paid MSRP in Mobile, AL as well.

That body looks really low. I just put on winter tires on my 2017 Prius Prime and the scissor jack just fits. I couldn't get my referred electric lift under there. Even more difficult when changing out a flat a few months ago.

    Hi Bill:

The 23 actually has significantly more ground clearance than the 4th gens. This is probably one of the reasons for the much higher Cd?

A few weeks back, I did an internal height comparison on the 23s 17s and 19s compared to the 4th gens 15s and 17s. Here is what it looks like:

    2023 Prius

    195/60R17 - 26.2" tall
    195/50R19 - 26.7" tall

    2022 Prius

    195/65R15 - 25.0" tall
    215/45R17 - 24.6" tall

    5.3 in. (AWD-e trims)

What do you mean by "internal height"? I don't see how interior dimensions would be affected by tire sizes.
    Thanks!

The looks are so deceptive in that shot I referred to. I'm glad there's more room to be able to jack up the car in a pinch. Thanks, Wayne.

Tire diameter will affect ground clearance, and thus the seat height. Right?

For any specific body design, tire diameter variations should affect ground clearance and seat height equally. Not clear what that has to do with "internal height."

    Hi RedylC94:
An internal "study" of tire heights meaning non-published detail - until now, not the actual interior of the Prius. ;) I have been working behind the scenes on some interesting drives with my own 23 if one arrives for a palatable price and I have to know all kinds of non-published details like this one. I can see how my phrasing lead to that reply however. :D

I'll guess tire height means loaded radius plus unloaded radius.

    Hi RedylC94:
It does not as I do not have any data on the tires other than the generic size(s) and used a tire size calculator to come up with a standard height. When the 9 to 11/32 of tread is worn to 5 to 7/32s, that is when these tires will be ready for what I have in mind. ;)

    Hi All:

This is what the 23 Prius LE, XLE, and Limited should have came with. ;)

    Hi All:

While we wait for more supply to reach Toyota showrooms, here is some more 5th gen 2023 Prius eye candy...

We will not receive the yellow color palette, but the rest are fair game.
