The best Super Duty on the planet is now even better. Wayne Gerdes – CleanMPG – Sept. 28, 2022 2023 Ford Super Duty Drivetrain(s) The all-new Super Duty is defined by its power and capability by offering the broadest range of engines in the segment. A New standard 6.8L V8 gas engine is going to be a fuel sucking pig. A throwback 7.3L V8 but as a gasoline fueled engine will be even worse. The bell of the ball will be the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel that can go longer intervals between oil changes, longer between fuel stops, and stay on the job longer. It has been updated with upgraded exhaust manifolds and unique tuning targeting the best hp and torque in the class. All three Super Duty engines are mated to a Ford-designed and built 10-speed TorqShift AT, and every chassis cab model comes standard with a power take off connection to run added equipment, like boom lifts and plows. Four-wheel drive is now standard on XLT models and above. An All-new Tough and Modern Exterior An all-new exterior includes seven new grilles engineered to maximize cooling performance while under heavy loads. Signature “C-clamp” lighting creates a wide, planted look up front while LED headlamps are now available on all trim levels. Best-in-class Capabilities Approximately 96% of heavy-duty pickup owners use their trucks to tow, and with targeted best-in-class payload and towing for every trailer type, Super Duty ensures customers can haul with confidence. New available driver assist technologies designed to simplify the towing experience and build confidence include: Onboard Scales with Smart Hitch that estimates cargo weight in real time and provides guidance on trailer tongue weight distribution directly on the center touchscreen, FordPass app or within the taillamps 360-Degree Trailer Camera System that provides a bird’s-eye view of the trailer to make maneuvering in tight spaces easier and with virtually no blind spots Blind Spot Information System for Fifth Wheel & Gooseneck** that can be attached to a trailer to help identify when vehicles are next to a trailer and indicate this in the side view mirrors Industry-First Available Tailgate Down Camera and Tailgate Down Reverse Sensing System** includes a new camera and reverse sensors in the top of the tailgate that provide visual and audible alerts when the tailgate is down to make backing up to a dock or hitching a gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailer easier than ever before Pro Trailer Hitch Assist** automatically backs the truck up and aligns the conventional hitch ball to the trailer receiver Trailer Navigation plots routes that can be safely navigated with given trailer dimensions and weight to avoid potential issues with low bridges and tight turns 2023 Ford Super Duty Almost a decade of requests and they finally include it. An honest to goodness rear Bumper Step! New Manufacturing Investments Ford also announced that it will be spending $700 million in new investment and creating 500 additional hourly manufacturing jobs in Kentucky to support new vehicle production. In particular, the new investment in Kentucky will support an all-new F-Series Super Duty pickup built at Ford’s Kentucky Truck plant in Louisville which has been churning out vehicles since the Model T. Ford employs more than 12,000 people in Kentucky and supports nearly 120,000 direct and indirect jobs in the state and a state GDP contribution of $11.8 billion. Between Kentucky and Ohio operations, local sales, suppliers, and employees help support nearly 200,000 direct and indirect jobs and a combined GDP of approximately $19 billion. Ford is expanding its presence in Kentucky with the BlueOval SK Battery Park, a new, $5.8 billion, 1,500-acre battery manufacturing complex powering next-generation electric Ford and Lincoln vehicles. The joint venture with SK On will create about 5,000 new jobs. The 2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty goes on sale in early 2023 with some features and trim series available starting in spring 2023. It will be assembled at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville and Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake. #Ford #SuperDuty
All-New Ford F-Series Super Duty - Best-In-Class Towing, Payload and Power The all-new 2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty now offers best in class performance with an ungodly 1,200 lb.-ft. of torque, 40,000 pounds maximum towing, and 8,000 pounds of maximum payload. HD pickup owners use their truck for towing, so Super Duty offers the best maximum tow rating for all types of trailering: conventional, fifth-wheel, and gooseneck trailers. At a maximum of 40,000 pounds gooseneck towing, that’s half the combined weight of a semi-tractor and a fully loaded trailer. Let me put that monstrous tow cap into perspective. An average full-sized Semi-truck weighs approximately 25,000 lbs. With a fully loaded and legal weight trailer, the Gross Vehicle weight of the tractor trailer combination cannot exceed 80,000 lbs. That means the trailer and its cargo cannot exceed 55,000 lbs. The 2023 Ford Super Duty in its maximum tow cap F-450 trim and equipment can tow 72% of a max legal, fully loaded, full sized semi-truck! 2023 Ford Super Duty Reveal Super Duty is also packed with innovations like optional “Pro Trailer Hitch Assist” that steers the truck to align the hitch ball to the receiver, optional Smart Hitch helping to distribute trailer weight properly, and 360-Degree Trailer Camera Package provides a birds-eye view of the truck, cargo box and trailer. An available full-color head-up display helps keep eyes on the road and shows turn-by-turn Trailer Navigation that customizes your route to make it easier to drive with a trailer. Engine Options and the Power Breakout With four engines including the all-new 6.8L gas V8, upgraded 7.3L gas V8, 6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel V8, and new high-output 6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel V8 producing the almost incomprehensible class-leading 1,200 lb.-ft. of torque and 500 hp. Every engine is paired to a 10-speed AT w/ std. 4x4 on XLT trims and above. 6.8L V8 gas – 405 hp/445 lb-ft. 7.3L V8 gas - 430 hp (best in class)/485 lb.-ft. (best in class) 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel – 475 hp/1,050 lb-ft. HO 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel - 500 hp (best in class)/1,200 lb.-ft. (best in class) Super Duty offers the best maximum payload rating available at 8,000 pounds. Available Onboard Scales can measure a payload that is the equivalent of up to 100 eighty-pound bags of cement. The business end is more than just hauling, it’s designed for productivity with standard bed side and rear bumper corner steps and an available tailgate step that’s three inches lower than before. Technology to make work easier includes an industry-first available Tailgate Down Camera and Tailgate Down Reverse Park Aid, optional 2.0 KW Pro Power Onboard to extend Super Duty capability with five times more exportable power than anyone else in the segment. Standard FordPass Connect embedded 5G modem enables Wi-Fi access for up to 10 devices at home or on the jobsite. Why not use your phone as I have been reiterating for the past decade? The most connected F-Series Super Duty will receive Ford Power-Up (OTA) software updates so the vehicle can get better over time. High-speed connectivity also enables important software and data tools like Ford Pro Telematics and Super Duty’s new Vehicle Security Package. Together these digital subscriptions and the growing Ford Pro™ ecosystem of software and services – such as VIIZR, an all-in-one job management platform - can help small to medium businesses manage downtime and productivity. The 2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty is assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, Ohio. Orders can be placed with dealers beginning today with deliveries planned for early 2023. Pricing currently starts at $43,970 MSRP, plus $1,795 for destination and delivery. A lot more for the max tow cap F-450 w/ the HO 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel of course. Wayne
Wayne said, “an ungodly 1,200 lb.-ft. of torque……” ////// litesong said: Ha haaaa…….Approaching 10 times the torque of my Hyundai Elantra. Using the LAWS OF PHYSICS (GODLY MADE), the Ford isn’t ungodly. Future machines will have even more torque, specially electric motor vehicles(already have?). But using up what needs to be conserved & producing what doesn’t NEED to be produced, the Ford & other powerful machines are definitely “not environmental”. Yeah, yeah…..millions of people make up reasons WHY they ABSOLUTELY NEED all that power. Powerful machines are always in demand, except for times like ccp coronavirus at its worst, or during warming climate induced hurricanes with powerful machines that are 5 feet under water.
