For the first half of 2022, Kia sold 333,340 vehicles, down 11.9% below the 378,511 sold through the first half of 2021. Like Hyundai, Kia’s June results easily beat the industry’s negative double-digit results as sales were down just 4.5% at the hard charging Korean OEM. The all-new Sportage SUV posted record monthly sales of 14,153 units. June also marked the third consecutive month that sales of the Sportage SUV exceeded 10,000 units. In addition, Kia captured its largest share of market ever beating the previous high achieved in July 2021. Adding to the accolade list for the sharp looking and extremely efficient 2022 Kia EV6, Wards announced it achieved a 10 Best Interiors & UX award. With 2022 sales of 12,568, the public must agree. Kia Reports July 2022 Sales Kia announced overall July sales of 62,449 units, down 10.9 percent from the 70,099 sold in July of 2021. Led by the all-new gas, HEV, and PHEV Sportage, the Sportage achieved record July sales of 11,985 vehicles, up 12.8 percent vs the 10,626 sold in July of 2021. The award winning and excellent EV6 achieved sales of 1,716.There is no July 2021 sales comparison since it was not yet available but sales were down 33.1 percent from the 2,567 EV6s sold last month. Overall, sales of Kia’s electric and hybrid models increased 86-percent year-over-year. I would be remiss if I did not mention that Kia outsold Hyundai by 1,818 vehicles in July.
