The Altima shows surprising strength in a market that is anything but robust. Wayne Gerdes – CleanMPG – July 1, 2022 2023 Nissan Altima Refreshed and better than ever The Altima receives a comprehensive refresh for the 2023 MY with new front end styling, new wheel designs, more standard safety features, and two new exterior colors. The Altima can be equipped with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, ProPILOT Assist plus Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard. Altima offers two engines, FWD or AWD, and four trims including S, S, SV, SR, and SL. The 2023 Altima interior includes revised instrument panel finishing's and a new dual-stitch interior fabric design for SR models. Altima Tech Upgrades The 2023 adds a new 12.3” HD color display, Navigation, Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Qi charger, and a WiFi hotspot, all standard on Altima SL and SR VC-Turbo and available on SV. The new 12.3” display replaces the previous 8.0” display and features a high-resolution display that provides clear images and crisp graphics. Altima Drivetrains The 2023 Altima is available with a 2.0L I4 Variable Compression (VC) Turbo or 2.5L I4 DOHC engine. The 2.0L is not so efficient so there is no need to discuss that any longer. The 2.5L I4 is rated at 188 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque in the FWD while providing a decent 28/39 mpg city/highway in S trim and 27/37 mpg city/highway in SV, SR and SL trims. I will skip the AWD as it takes yet another few mpgs from the ratings. Nissan like so many others really need to get off those DAMNED large wheels that destroys efficiency. Altima Safety For the 2023 MY, Altima continues with Nissan’s advanced ProPILOT Assist system – standard on Altima SL and optional on SV. Standard on all Altima grades for 2023 is Safety Shield 360 which includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, radar-based Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and High Beam Assist. SL adds Traffic Sign Recognition and Intelligent Around View Monitor. The 2023 Nissan Altima will go on sale this fall.
