[IMG] It looks like a futuristic Porsche Taycan and that is a very good thing.

Hyundai has finally revealed its IONIQ 6 Electrified Sedan, the latest model in the brand’s IONIQ all-electric lineup. And damn is it running on all cylinders despite having no cylinders. ;)

The IONIQ 6 delivers an estimated range of at least 610 km on the WLTP which equates to ~ 340 miles of AER on our own EPA. And like the Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 will arrive with the same 400V/800V high speed DCFC capability.

The Ioniq 6 resides on the E-GMP platform providing an extremely long, 116” wheelbase. The body shell has the dimensions of a full-sized sedan including a length of 191”, just under 2” shorter than the current Sonata, width of 74”, up almost an inch from the current Sonata, and 59” height, 1.6” taller than the current Sonata.

On the styling front, it looks like a bullet with attractive haunches and rear rake looking very similar to the Taycan, and dual rear spoilers with a throwback homage to the Merkur XR4Ti. Customers can choose either 18’s – highly recommended, or 20” alloys.

IONIQ 6 will arrive with the long-range 77.4-kWh battery that can be mated with a RWD or AWD. The top-of-the-line dual motor setup is an AWD can hit 60 in under 5-seconds.

The IONIQ 6 supports both 400V and 800V charging infrastructures. With a 350 KW or EVgo DCFC, the IONIQ 6 can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

IONIQ 6 also includes a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function that allows customers to charge any electric devices.

Moving inside, the IONIQ 6 left nothing unturned. A Dual Color Ambient Lighting system allows a driver to customize the look and feel of the interior cabin by selecting from a spectrum of 64 colors and six pre-selected themes. The Speed Sync Lighting mode adds emotion to the driving experience by changing the brightness of the interior lighting in the first row based on the vehicle’s speed.

The optional Relaxation Comfort Seats are approximately 30 percent thinner than those in other conventional models, providing more space for passengers. There are four type-C and one type-A USB ports available to improve customer convenience.

    Ioniq 6 Infotainment

IONIQ 6’s modular touchscreen integrates a 12” display and user customizable 12-inch digital cluster. The embedded maps provide real-time travel radius mapping based on the current state of charge. The system’s connected car services also help search and plan the best route to include a charging station(s) along the way.

Standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and multi-connect Bluetooth are standard. Will the higher end trims still require a wired connection for AA and ACP? Stay tuned.

A premium 8-speaker Bose sound system including a subwoofer provides a high-end listening experience.

    Ioniq 6 Safety

The IONIQ 6 is equipped with the next level of Hyundai SmartSense, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, ensuring safety and convenience on the road.

Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) helps to maintain a set distance and speed from the vehicle ahead when driving on a highway and helps to center the vehicle in the lane while driving, even through a curve. In case the vehicle on the side is driving very close, it assists to adjust the vehicle's path, not to be in danger. If driving above a certain speed, holding the steering wheel, and operating the turn signal switch automatically changes the lane in the indicated direction.

Smart Cruise Control (SCC) helps to maintain distance from the vehicle ahead and drive at a speed set by the driver by reflecting the learned driving style of the driver. When SCC is inactive, the function learns the driver's driving style. When SCC is activated, the function stops learning and drives automatically by mimicking the learned driving style.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) helps to avoid collisions with objects in front of the vehicle while driving. If a preceding vehicle suddenly slows, or if a forward-collision risk is detected, such as a stopped vehicle or a pedestrian, it provides a warning. After the warning, if the risk of collision remains, it can assist with emergency braking. While driving, if there is a risk of collision with a cyclist ahead, or with an oncoming vehicle while turning at an intersection, it can help assist with emergency braking.

The SEL and Limited trims includes enhanced functions of Junction Crossing, Lane-Changing Oncoming and Lane-Changing Side along with Evasive Steering Assist. While driving through an intersection if there is a risk of collision with oncoming vehicles from the left or right, it automatically assists with emergency braking. When changing lanes while driving, if there is a risk of collision with an oncoming vehicle in the next lane or a preceding vehicle in the next lane, it automatically assists with avoidance steering. And while driving, if there is a risk of collision with a pedestrian, partially in the vehicle's intended path, it automatically assists with avoidance steering.

Other semi-autonomous driving features include Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), which adjusts vehicle speed to match the speed limit, and High Beam Assist (HBA), which can help switch high beam lights on and off at night for approaching vehicles in the opposite oncoming lane.

IONIQ 6 has several driver attention-related functions. Driver Attention Warning (DAW) analyzes the driver's attention while driving and warns when necessary. It provides a warning when signs of driver inattentiveness are detected and recommends a rest if needed. During a stop, the driver is alerted if the leading vehicle departs.

Several functions work in tandem to help avoid collisions in a variety of driving situations. Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) helps avoid collisions at the rear side of the vehicle when changing lanes. When operating the turn signal to change lanes, if there is a risk of collision detected with a rear-side vehicle, it can provide a warning. If exiting a parallel parking spot and there is a risk of collision detected with a rear-side vehicle, it can assist with emergency braking.

Another function, Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), displays video of the blind-spot view for a safe lane change. When operating the turn signal switch, it displays video of the blind-spot view for the direction indicated.

IONIQ 6 also assures the safety of backseat passengers with Safe Exit Warning (SEW), which provides a warning when a vehicle is approaching from the rear-side while getting out of the vehicle. When the occupant opens the door to exit the vehicle after a stop, if an approaching vehicle from the rear side is detected, it provides a warning.

A variety of Parking Convenience features make parking in a variety of circumstances easier than before. Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2) helps remotely park by Remote Parking or it helps remotely exit a parking spot from outside the vehicle by Remote Operation. This feature works for parallel, perpendicular, and even diagonal parking.

Surround View Monitor (SVM) displays video of the situation around the vehicle for safe parking. Forward/Side/Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA) helps avoid collisions with pedestrians and objects around the vehicle while parking or exiting. If there is a risk of collision with pedestrians or objects while parking and exiting, it provides a warning. After the warning, if the risk of collision increases, it automatically assists with emergency braking.

Similarly, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) helps avoid collisions with oncoming vehicles on the left or right side of the vehicle while reversing. If there is a risk of collision with an oncoming vehicle on the left or right side while reversing, it provides a warning. After the warning, if the risk of collision increases, it automatically assists with emergency braking.

The Ioniq 6 is OTA Updateable

IONIQ 6 is Hyundai brand’s first model to offer the Over-the-Air (OTA) Software Update feature for various controllers. This technology allows drivers to upgrade the vehicle’s controllers for electric devices, autonomous driving, battery, and more, to provide a safer and more convenient driving experience. Drivers can also update maps and media software with the OTA function.

    IONIQ 6 Colors

IONIQ 6 is available in 12 exterior colors, including Gravity Gold Matte, Abyss Black Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Curated Silver Metallic, Nocturne Gray Metallic, Nocturne Gray Matte, Transmission Blue Pearl, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Ultimate Red Metallic, Digital Green Pearl, Digital Green Matte and Byte Blue.

    2023 Hyundai Ioniq

A great looking and standout all-electric sedan for the masses.

Inside, there are four colors available: Dark gray with light gray, Dark olive green with light gray, Black with pale brown and Black.

The IONIQ 6 is slated to begin production in the third quarter of 2022. The market launch schedule will be announced later.

All in, the Ioniq 5 is already better than the Tesla Model Y – and a whole lot less expensive and the Ioniq 6 is a much better Model 3. And probably a whole lot less expensive. ;)

Who are these gimps and wimps who need a car to be as tall as this or the Crown ?
I'm 69 and have no problem getting into or out of a Civic. The Prius seating position is 1-2"
higher than the Civic , but that wasn't at my request.

The first impression I had of the car shape was of a stretched VW Beetle. Sure, I can see a little resemblance to the Taycan, best seen on the comparison pictures from an angled, overhead view. The video representative shot from 3/4 front, hides the Merkur spoilers behind the pronounced rear haunch.

Don't care for the naming convention. Is it going to be odd is SUV, and even is sedan, or just whatever number they feel is right?

Wayne mentioned it, and that triggered my recall... I don't file things well in my brain. Things I don't think will be useful tend to get lost. :D I have some not-very-useful object oriented recall. :) I do a lot of, "oh yeah... now I remember."

To delay spoilage, I recommend cooking the haunch, sooner than later.

I wonder if the shape will help meet or beat the Taycan's 0.22 Cd? And do the Mercur spoilers help or hinder?

I also see a hint of the Porsche 911 rear.

    Hi All:

More details from the various releases and one hell of an iconic pic to go along with it.

    2023 Ioniq 6

Parked in front of an iconic Douglas C54 Skymaster.

Hyundai’s streamlined IONIQ 6 was designed to cheat the wind with clean, simple lines and a pure aerodynamic form while incorporating sustainable materials throughout.

Like the award-winning IONIQ 5, the IONIQ 6 implements the Hyundai Look design strategy that gives each model a unique appearance, like chess pieces.

    2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Exterior

IONIQ 6 has an ultra-low coefficient of drag = 0.21, assisted by its low nose, active air flaps at the front, wheel gap reducers, and optional slim digital side mirrors that are probably not regulatory approved here in the U.S. Its elliptical wing-inspired spoiler with winglet, slight boat-tail structure, and separation traps on both sides of the rear bumper are what helped drop that Cd to this level. Underneath, a full cover of the undercarriage, optimized deflectors and reduced wheel-arch gaps.

IONIQ 6 also integrates over 700 Parametric Pixels in various places, such as headlamps, rear combination lamps, front lower sensors, air vent garnishes and center console indicator, to reinforce the IONIQ brand’s identity throughout the vehicle.

The rear wing’s Parametric Pixel High-Mounted Stop Lamp (HMSL) shows off its design to others when the brakes are applied.

    2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Interior

Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) enabled the designers to stretch the interior creating improved legroom and spaciousness while offering a completely flat floor.

The modular touchscreen dashboard integrates a 12” infotainment display and 12” digital cluster. A bridge-type center console provides convenient and generous in-car storage.

Dual Color Ambient Lighting provides overall illumination for IONIQ 6 interior. Users can choose from 64 colors and six dual color themes. The 4-dot Interactive Pixel Lights on the steering wheel enable easy communication between the driver and vehicle.

The removal of buttons from the front doors provided more breathing room and more storage. Transparent accents on the crash pad garnish, door map pocket and console lower cover further enhance its interior appeal.

    Eco-friendly Interior and Exterior Materials

The IONIQ 6’s designers applied sustainable materials to the exterior, including recycled pigment paint from end-of-life tires to the cladding and bamboo charcoal pigment paint to the body.

IONIQ 6’s interior is also trimmed in sustainable materials and colors. Depending on the trim level, these include eco-process leather (seats), recycled PET fabric (seats), bio TPO skin (dashboard), bio PET fabric (headliner), bio paint derived from vegetable oils (doors), and recycled fishing net carpet — the latter is a first for the IONIQ brand.

The dual rear wing like design really stands out to me. ;)

The C-54 should have been flying at the Seattle Seafair this year! It would have been wonderful. The superb cameras would have shown more flying detail than the above picture!

If the Cd gets any lower, cars will accelerate without applying the throttle. Sixty four colors…….maybe I can find 2 Hyundai colors that I like. Really tho, Hyundai (& other manufacturers) need to use more Metal Flake. Removing the buttons from the doors, may allow cheaper repairs when doors get damaged in accidents.

My successful experience with used taller tires, raise the seats 3/4ths of an inch higher. I really like that my bad back gets to plop down 3/4ths of an inch LESS, now!
