Today, the average price of regular unleaded in Calfornia is $6.41.....and rising, thanks to the Democrat ridiculous policies. So driving efficiently is even more important....

With all due respect to you Wayne (and you know I love you and consider you the best MPG driver in the nation)......your Democrat bias & illness has tossed you completely "out to lunch" on this issue.

First, gas pump prices began to rise nearly immediately after Biden took office. In the first few days after his inauguration, he did these things:

Re-enacted Paris Climate Accord.

Cancelled Keystone pipeline

Halted leasing programs in Anwar

Issued 60- day halt on all energy leases on Federal land & water

Directed Federal agencies to halt all supports for fossil fuels

Issued new regulations for oil & gas emissions.

And you think these things had NO effect on fuel prices? Pump prices in the USA rose over 32% well PRIOR to any action by Puton toward Ukraine.

Please wake-up my friend Wayne! And I pray you don't also buy into your Democrat beliefs that the border is secure, illegal alien crime & drugs & human trafficking is.not a big problem, biological men winning girls athletic events is not ruining Women's sports, BLM actually cares about ALL black lives, even though they are a fraudulent organization, police depts should be de-funded, Mayor Lori Lightfoot is doing a good job, taxpayers should pay for unrestricted abortion and sex change operations, sex & gender topics are a good thing to teach 6 or 7 yr Olds in our public schools, "white supremacists" are the greatest threat. (Even though the 2 leading causes of U.S. gun deaths are 1) suicide and 2) black males shooting other black males in urban areas like Chicago.

I addressed this in the other thread, but here we go.

First, gas prices started increasing around the world at the same time. It is mostly driven the increase in economic activity that started as places left lockdown.

Coal plants were shutting down without this.
Most auto manufacturers are calling for the US to follow California's lead on fuel economy. The rest of the world is pushing stricter fuel economy standards, and having near the same targets in their major markets makes it cheaper for car companies.

Keystone is fine, it was Keystone XL that was cancelled. It was an additional branch that would let Canadian tar sand companies ship more 'crude' to the Gulf Coast to sell on the international market. it would make foreigners richer while doing nothing positive for gas prices in the US. It could have increased them. If it hadn't been cancelled it would not have had any impact on today's prices, as it would still be under construction.

Oil leases and drilling on federal lands only add up to 20% of the activity in the US. Most of it is on state and private lands. The oil companies already have federal leases they aren't doing anything with, so not getting more isn't hurting them. When they do move on using the lease, it will be years before oil gets to market.

It was something like only two companies that bid on Anwar leases when Trump opened it up. None of the major companies put in bids. Those companies have since abandoned their leases. It's a remote area; they've decided it wasn't worth the cost of building the infrastructure to get wells out there.

Oil companies and their supporters are crying about leases now because they are hoping to take advantage of the situation to get more cheap leases that they are just sit on. Do you really think they want prices to come down?

Not sure how buying green electricity and buying made in America EVs increased gas prices.

Are they new, or just old ones Trump decided ignore? See, it is Congress the one that makes regulations.

Again, gas and energy prices were increasing across the globe. Biden doesn't have that much clout.

This thread is a good example of how a really good forum can go bad. Since the country is roughly evenly divided right and left most mentions of politics will make half the people angry. Why does politics and personal attacks have a part in saving gas.

 

If the election had been based on a popular vote of the people, Trump would have lost directly by 7(+?) million votes, even despite the efforts of republicans to cripple democratic election processes. You surmise that Trump may have won the election, which is totally untrue. right-wingers have left “politics” far behind & wish to physically destroy democracy, setting up a totalitarian dictatorship. January 6th, 2021 proved that & now the January 6th Committee is providing legal truth that will send hundreds (thousands?) to jail. Already DOJ has sent many to jail.

He's a parasite. He infests forums and rants about politics, using offensive and obscene language. By his own admission, he isn't driving much due to fuel prices, so there is little to contribute in fuel saving strategies. Not much else to talk about, I guess?

True. At least the first two posts don't contain obscene language. With the price of a gallon at record highs, more people will end up finding CleanMPG in their search for gas savings. The off-topic posts and their authors should be moved into a separate forum that is a safe distance from the forums people will want to visit - the ones that teach the hows and whys of hypermiling.
