Alert! One station in Boise, ID is selling gas for $3.899 per gallon! Now, if there were 2 stations selling gas for that price, I would assume a gas war is going on. Bet if you traveled to that station, it isn’t $3.899.

Today may be the best inbound commute trip of the year.
    A very helpful tail wind ( SW9 ) and warm weather (80-82 deg F )
    yielded 33.3 miles , fcd = 72.4 x .943 = 68.3 MPG.

Also , I filled up in Elk Grove. for the low , low price of $5.649.
    9.660 gallons , 644.1 miles , fcd = 70.0 x .943 = 66.0 MPG.

The 2.8 mile trip to work from gas station was 99.9 MPG ( fcd ).

I wish I had an efficient car like a Prius Prime , but I'll continue to do the best
I can with my old-tech jalopy.

    Today , 73 deg F in Naperville , 72 in Elk Grove.
    Wind W5
    33.3 miles , fcd = 68.1 x .943 = 64.2 MPG.
Today , I pick up my new lawnmower. Last time I bought one
was in 1994. This time it will be a Toro. After that , I go to Wheaton
to drop off my phone for repair. After that , I hope to get home and
mow the lawn , weather permitting.

    Wind W4.
    33.3 miles , fcd = 68.5 x .943 = 64.6 MPG.
The westerly wind might have helped a bit , but it wasn't
noticeable on the instant because that's when I am climbing
out of the river valley , an ascent of maybe 1000 inches.
Oh , the Toro lawnmower is fantastic. Very powerful and the
    self-propel mechanism is very slick.

Previously, I was cutting fuel usage by using trips in our valleys, avoiding our lower hills that ascend 7000+ inches. Of course, trips into our mountains of 66,000 inch elevations AND LOWER became non-existent.
Now, I am dramatically reducing even LEVEL TRIPS of over 126,720 inches in LENGTH.

We’ve been using electric lawnmowers for decades.

Whoa! What’s happening in Washington state?! I now see 10 stations selling gas for under $5 per gallon. We’ll see of the downward trend continues.

    From June 9, 2022:
Must add to this earlier thread:
Since we put the taller 205X60X16 inch Les Schwab Reputation tires on the 2016 manual Hyundai Elantra, of which 205X55X16 inch tires are original equipment(OE), the gearing between our manual Elantra & that of a standard shod automatic Elantra, is no longer 6-7% difference, but reduced to 2.8-3.8% difference. Yes, I know all these percentages are small, but they are physically noticeable, detectable on the tachometer AND needed no extra expense, know-how or person-hours of work to accomplish.
In my vernacular, of whom many here know well………. “It’s FREE, it’s FREE”!!

Cautions to those who often carry traveling weight in passengers &/or cargo to the capacity of their vehicles or razzle-dazzle their vehicles to the maximum, over-sized tires are NOT a good idea. Only to those, whose vehicles are never to full capacity AND drivers who drive carefully, do I recommend over-sized tires.
Even with those recommendations, I always have noted that rough, extra-bumpy roads are tamed somewhat with over-sized tires. Also, cornering has less lean, IF the over-sized tires have slightly wider tire widths.
This information comes from me, with 100,000 miles experience with over-sized tires as great as 1.8 inches taller &/or 30mm wider widths than OE. Tires with such tallness AND extra width should NOT be considered.

Thanks , Bill. The battery state of charge may be a bit down , but it
was at a normal six bars when I got to work. Sometimes that doesn't show
until I start my trip home , then it may drop a bar ( or two ) in the first half-mile.

Tho posted in the May 2022 thread, the following was written June 17, 2022 & is about our Pacific Northwest’s generally cold weather back to last winter & also speaking of 1983 summer weather:
“Wife & I are going to an art festival, today. Mist, turning into a very light rain is coming down. For June, it is cold too, to extend our cold Springtime, & past winter weather. We get one pleasant day, preceded & succeeded by multiple cold, rainy days. I remember 1983, when our entire summer was cold & rainy. Hope we get a real summer break coming soon, from our continuing standard Washington state weather.
PS……After that 1983 cold summer, the fall was very nice with increased warmth for a fall season. It was very pleasant AFTER the previous cold winter, spring & summer, & BEFORE the coming cold winter weather.”
    /////////
    Today:
Summer begins tomorrow, Tuesday. Predictions for the next 3 days are for low 70’s, except Wednesday in the 60’s. However, the coming weekend & Monday are predicted to be in the 80’s! Alright!! However, cooler weather is forecast after that.
Except for this coming Wednesday, rain chances are predicted to be lower.
Well, a trace of summer is coming.

Yes, the beginning of summer was excellent yesterday. Predicted two days ago, today is cooler with a higher percentage chance of rain. So far, no rain, but 100% cloud cover. So this prediction is fairly accurate. The predictions for hot weather for the weekend thru Monday have now increased temperatures to above the mid-80’s! The warmer weather will be a great change from the many months of cold, rainy weather. However, cooling is predicted to return, so we Washingtonians with our webbed feet don’t get too roasted.

Electric go-karts, Gord ? We have them here , and they're scary-fast. Also , they require a lot of upper
body strength to get fast lap times.
