    Hi Bill:

New EA V4s, what a beautiful sight! ;)

I looked up all of the EA DCFC'ers I used during the Porsche crossing almost 4 years ago - some listed in the list above, and more than half are now new V4s too. Thankfully this should make cross country DCFCing even less stressful.

    Hi All:

The Electrify America Releases its Q1 2025 Report to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is out. This is not a nationwide specific writeup given who the report was issued to but there were a few details in here that ticks me off. I think you will see the same when you read the highlighted sentences within the report as posted below.

    Permit Costs and Utility Timing

Station permitting and new utility service were again Electrify America’s primary cause for delay and undue station “soft costs” in California.

It costs 41% more, on average, to design and construct an Electrify America station in California than it costs to build a station with the same number of chargers in another state. This higher cost per station results in California receiving fewer stations per dollar invested by Electrify America, and these higher costs are primarily driven by permitting delays and utility site energization delays. The average time to complete the permitting process for DC fast charging station sites in California averaged 118 business days in Q1, 12% longer than the national average.

By the end of Q1 2025, the utility design duration process for utility interconnection of Electrify America stations averaged 48 weeks in California. Critically, California’s utilities do not complete construction and energization of the new utility service until, on average, 55 weeks after Electrify America completed construction of its charging
    stations.

That last sentence must stop immediately. If California wants the "California Miracle" and BEV adoption to continue, they had better get off their @$$es and move these permits and interconnects into warp speed yesterday. The sky-high electricity prices have stopped any AI Data Centers from moving into the state and if new gas turbines, SMR Nukes, and or a $**tload more solar with storage - Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is not approved and brought online, major companies are going to look elsewhere as they have over the past decade. :(
