Besides you Wayne! haha how are you? i was worried that cleanmpg was gone forever as I saw the not secure token in my web browser (You guys gotta upgrade for https!) Can't forget the journey about how I started saving gas. I can't imagine all the money and maintenance I have saved in all my years of driving. Don't get me wrong I still drive old hybrids of yesteryear, maybe bump start here and there, but the knowledge moves on as we can always do our share to reduce waste and emissions. There's a time to speed (I love racing sims) but just so you can slam on the brakes, man just think about that for a second! Anyways I'm about to be on a podcast to talk about EVs and hypermiling, definilatey cleanmpg will get a mention! Hopefully i'll hear from the greats (= cheers! Phillip
I'm still here. Still keeping up the battle to save fuel. There are still a few CleanMPG'ers from pre-2010, when gas prices first went crazy and hypermiling became a new word discovered by the media. Edwin, Gord and Bill are frequent contributors who have been sharing for years. There are others who wrote in to say they come back from time to time. As gas prices pass $4 again, I think people may start searching for ways to use less. We should whack the posts from parasites that post repetitive off-topic rants, and bring the basic articles back to the front page. It'd be great to bring "Beating the EPA" back to people who are open to changing the way they drive.
Hey Maxx , it's good to hear from you. Andrew doesn't post here too often , but I think he lurks sometimes. Sefton and Winger , too. I agree about the "parasites". Stay safe !
I'm still around, not driving much these days with working from home. I'm enjoying seeing Wayne's EV drives and writeups lately.
Nice, I chose today to pop on and see! I'm not around much. I work from home, and some life changes have me making less effort for mpg. Next vehicles will be more automatic in their savings so I can "just drive". But obviously right now is not the time to make any purchases.
hey I remember you guys! Pale and MaxxMPG haha same avatars too! I think I remember seftonm too as i"m more of a visual avatar recognizer than names! Its super good to hear from you guys! I agree with Pale that if you don't need a shiny new object in your driveway unless the cost of repairs of the current vehicle exceeds its value, then no point, I learned that the hard way dumping my 5spd civic for them shiny hybrids back in 2006 :$ I'm so glad Wayne is still posting and doing his thing! Does he still drive the accord? same starter? haha! MaxxMPG i totally agree! I think mindset is #1, and the rest will follow! I mean who wouldn't want lower cost of ownership of their current ride? I did notice people are more chill lately but definitely a few crazies out there that just do unnecessary stuff to endanger us all! Anyways cheers to you guys! Save on! - Phillip
Wayne moved to the west coast. He's less active here, spending a lot of his time as an Uber/Lyft driver. He has swapped cars several times. Doing that line of work, a car that is the most efficient in "normal" driving is ideal. I think he's in a Hyundai hybrid now?
Good effort, Andrew. Wayne's well into his Prius Prime ownership. His miles do rack up quickly between his various activities, including "mercy" drives shuttling medical supplies.
Not a hybrid. He did have an Elantra Eco for a while . Put 150 some thousand miles on it , I think. Definitely got his money's worth.
Haha, my avatar changes as my vehicle changes. But I always seem to end up with a blue car so it probably hasn't changed a lot over the years.
Hi Phil: The backend has been in the upgrade status for a few weeks now with the OS up to date. The next one is the Xenforo update which should take care of the certificates. Any day now in fact. Wayne
Thanks for the mention Maxx, yeah me, Edwin and Bill still post on Daily Grind plus Red and a few of the other oldies like Jason occasionally! Nice to see you on here Andrew, loved those competitions You may have noticed my avatar has also changed Mike S - owner of a Tesla Model 3 Long Range since August- love it Hello to Wayne also
Bill Kinney still here, I check in once in awhile. Miss the great days of my 3 NEW Honda Insights, Hybrid fest in Madison, MPG Challenge, and all the nice people. Wayne is still TOPS in my book....he has his 2nd Prius Prime and finds great $$ deals for the purchase. I am driving about 2,150 miles per week now with my 2020 Prius L Eco. Delivering legal documents all over the Puget Sound area...
Hi - I've not been on this site very often, life has been busy. The old 96 Ranger "TorqueNada" was sold to a nice young man last summer, around 269,000 miles on the clock, everything still working, original clutch replaced at 235,000 miles. I've owned "Blue Swayed" since August of 2013, which I bought from RightLaneCruiser. It is a great 2002 Honda Insight w/5-speed manual trans, it is up to 214,300 miles with lifetime 65.3 mpg. Been so long I can't find the vehicle logs ... wanted to check up on Blue Swayed and TorqueNada fuel economy logs, and perhaps start tracking tanks again.
Welcome back . SlowHands. The original fuel economy logs may be lost. But you should check with Wayne, I don't know for sure.
