I’m not well at the moment but improving, so I will update my numbers from the Tesla Model 3 Long Range in due course!

Had a 7.5kW charger fitted at the back of my garage (I always reverse in but the cable is 16 feet long anyway).

Added 127 miles of range using new home charger.

Was still not feeling very well Wednesday and Thursday so didn't go to work.

9/3, to work, motorway route, 59°F:
21.5 miles - 202 Wh/mi or 167MPGe (Range dropped 21)

Going home at lunchtime, made it to the motorway, 61°F:
21.5 miles - 207 Wh/mi or 163MPGe (Range dropped 22 to 226)

later on went to my mum's, 63°F:
4.4 miles - 154 Wh/mi or 219MPGe (Range dropped 4)
4.4 miles - 269 Wh/mi or 125MPGe (Range dropped 6) - bet you can till which way is downhill!

Topped up the range at home, 37 miles added in 90 minutes

9/4, various trips with mother-in-law on board:
3.4 miles - 157 Wh/mi or 219MPGe
6.7 miles - 194 Wh/mi or 174MPGe
4.6 miles - didn't record it

Dropped mother-in-law off and went to supermarket for a shop and a free charge:
71 miles added in 34 minutes, range at 315 miles

Back home, 64°F:
2.8 miles - 243 Wh/mi or 139MPGe

Further trips in the afternoon, 66°F:
6.8 miles - 165 Wh/mi or 204MPGe
4.4 miles - 265 Wh/mi or 127MPGe


9/5, went to a garden center - a road was closed so needed a detour, 68°F:
12.4 miles - 188 Wh/mi or 179MPGe
9.1 miles - 217 Wh/mi or 155MPGe


9/6, to work, motorway route, 63°F:
21.5 miles - 194 Wh/mi or 174MPGe (Range dropped 21)

Going home, non-motorway route, 81°F - tried out the vent feature on my way to the car - neat! - lowered all 4 windows an inch:
19.6 miles - 216 Wh/mi or 156MPGe (Range dropped 21 - had climate on most of the way)

This morning, to work, motorway route, 61°F:
21.4 miles - 200 Wh/mi or 169MPGe (Range dropped 21)

Nearly 800 miles driven so far and loving it - excellent!

 

Last night, motorway route, even warmer 86°F - the tesla App said it was 120°F in the cabin so vented again then had climate on as I walked to the car but only 1/2 fan:
19.6 miles - 207 Wh/mi or 163MPGe (Range dropped 20)

This morning, to work, motorway route, 61°F:
21.4 miles - 193 Wh/mi or 175MPGe (Range dropped 20)

Range 170 miles

Quite happy with these numbers

I am in an EPA rated 2.22 miles/kWh 2021 Porsche Taycan this month and its high speed efficiency is impressive...

Hi Litesong:

When you are crossing the country, you will have a tough time waiting at an 11 KW or less L2 charger to bring you back to 80 percent so you can continue. Most L2s are 3.3 or 6.6 KW. A 6.6 KW charger would take well over 13 hours for 200 to 400-miles of range. Most will charge at home at 3 to 19 KW for their daily needs but when you are out on the road away from home, you simply do not have that kind of time.

I will have to try and work out my efficiency in miles/kWh to see how my Model 3 compares.

** EDIT ** - my average since last charge has been 4.9 miles/kWh mainly commuting

 

Last night, motorway route, 86°F again - the cabin wasn't as warm as yesterday as I got a spot with shade in the afternoon - vented, fan speed 1 of 10 which I ended up putting it up to 4/10 by the time I got home but no A/C:
19.7 miles - 196 Wh/mi or 172MPGe (Range dropped 20)

This morning, to work, motorway route, 66°F:
21.4 miles - 195 Wh/mi or 173MPGe (Range dropped 21 to 129)

The car wanted to do a software update (2021.24.5) when I parked up at work. Said it would take approx 25 minutes to install - didn't bother scheduling it and set it to install straight away - it gave me a 2-minute countdown to get out of the car!
Apparently, it's added Disney+ to the theater app, car wash mode, mirror auto-dim and dashcam improvements. You can also now switch between battery percentage and miles remaining by tapping the range display next to the battery icon (could be useful!). They have also included autopark for parallel and perpendicular spots - may have to try that feature out.

Hi All:

I drove the 225 mile and 2.22 mile/kWh rated Taycan to LA City Hall with a full charge from the EA 350 KW at the BOA in Chinatown about .75-miles away. Afterwards, I headed east towards NYC seconds after I snapped this beauty.

Climbing from 350' ASL to 4,100' ASL at the Cajon Pass on the 15 and down to 3,400' ASL in Kingman, AZ, the Taycan had traveled some 322-miles and still had 27% SOC at 4.7 mi/kWh.

Hi Sulfuric:

The OEM Ecopia's are the go to. The OEM Dunlop Enasave's are more efficient but cost more and have lower tread wear.

I have used and continue to use both. Two good choices for your super Prius.
