    Mostly all headwind ( WSW 12 MPH ).
    17.4 miles , fcd = 64.5 x .943 = 60.8 MPH.
    Hopefully a bit better on the scenic route home today.

    No wind. 35.1 miles , fcd = 43.5 x 1.021 = 44.4 MPG.
    This 1.021 multiplier I am using may change as I get a few more tanks
    from the same pump.

    Still in the Prius. 28 deg F in Northbrook , 30 in Elk Grove.
    HARD frost on my windows , needed scraping ,rear and front defrost.
    17.4 miles , average speed 28 MPH , fcd = 57.6 x .943 = 54.3 MPG.
    I was hoping to mow my lawn after work. Now , I'm not so sure.

    Picked up my first brand-new car today. Purchased a 2021 Camry LE Hybrid, has 150 miles on it. I love it even more than the non-hybrid we just traded it. So happy with my decision. Came up with the same payment when I put some money down.

    Thanks for your kind words fellow grinders but it’s not good news I'm afraid,
    88 year old father-in-law has terminal pancreatic cancer and he's in month 7 after being given 3 to 6 to live back in September and fading fast.
    Mother-in-law is ok but not coping well and has many other ailments.

    46.2 (FCD 48.6) / 21.7

    52.4 (FCD 55.2) / 21.5 - much better run - concentrating a bit better :rolleyes:

    New day, fresh start.

    Sorry to hear about the condition of your in-laws. Hang in there... I'm sure your presence is a comfort to them.

    My life got turned upside down a couple of weeks ago. I used to be a big fish in a little pond with lots of work-life flexibility. Now I'm a middle-sized fish in a big pond with NO flexibility. Bad part is that I'll have to go into the office (in the biggest city in the area) a couple days a week, maybe around July. They're renovating the 12th floor where I will be.

    I did a trial drive last weekend to see what I'll be up against though I didn't enter the multi-level parking garage . Wife and puppy in the Crosstrek Hybrid...

    • fcd 47.3 MPG
    • 33.8 miles round trip, mixed highway and local roads and city streets with plenty of elevation changes
    • battery state at the end 13/20 bars (used sparingly)
    • this car is only rated 17 miles on EV; 11 EV miles range remaining
    • calculated 43.7 MPGe
    • temperature in the 60s F

    Thanks, Edwin. It was sort of fun getting that drive in after little driving this past year. First oil change last month at 3k miles. Oil sample tested normal. My first time doing the oil test, but I wanted to be sure all was okay. Subaru calls for 6 month or 6k miles oil changes. I am having none of that when it is synthetic 0W20. I also did the oil change myself, first time in a long time. Bulk Mobil 1 from the Wlmt supercenter down the hill a little over a mile away.

    I'm going back to changing my own oil , after six years away.
    It's easy ( after the first time ) , inexpensive , and most important , it's done RIGHT.
    Starting with the Honda. When ? I need to check my Maintenance Minder. Last time
    I looked it was at 30% oil life remaining.

    On my 08 Civic , I would typically go 7-8K miles between
    oil changes. Of course , my typical driving is probably a lot different now.
    Almost no trips under ten miles , 98 % over 30 miles.

    17.4 miles , fcd = 65.9 x .943 = 62.1 MPG. Going to see my daughter
    Heather and her family after work tonight ,so it will be about 45 miles home
    instead of 33-34.
