Friday lunchtime, motorway route then detoured the temporary traffic lights, 48°F, head/crosswind NW9:

Didn't drive my car over the weekend, did a 3 mile run (8 minute mile pace) to get my first vaccination and a 51 mile bike ride (18.2mph average) Saturday afternoon.

This morning, motorway route, frosty 37 climbing to 41°F at work, mostly headwind WNW8:
    48.2 / 21.5

    Tank up 0.1 at 45.4 (FCD 47.9) / 520.9 / Range 105 . Guess gauge F____|_«««E . UG steady at 49.0 / DTE 142

Today , in the Honda. 52 deg F in Naperville , 49 in
    Elk Grove. 35.1 miles , fcd = 49.9 MPG.
Our company was closed Saturday and Monday so we could
sweep out the corpses , but we're back in business today.
I'm trying to limit the Honda to 140 miles a week now , which
is two days of driving. I've accumulated about 8,000 miles
    in nine months.

Spring cleaning is important. I don't do much of it and it shows :(

Kind of regretting my decision to not get a hybrid, regardless of the math on break-even point. I'm still not getting used to a traditional automatic, and I don't know if I ever will after four years of having only hybrid CVTs. MPG wise, average is up to 30.9 MPG over about 300 miles. Vehicle is claiming half a tank of gas, but only 180 miles of range. Based on my experiences driving with Toyotas, it's just something they do. Never understood how wildly inaccurate the fuel gauge actually is. The C-Max is much more accurate.

TFF, you're still learning the unique qualities of the car, so give yourself some time to improve. Summer's coming so the sky's the limit. Enjoy!

We're going on probably a 1,200 mile round trip in a few weeks. That'll help me determine if I want to keep this specific one long-term, or get the hybrid.

Sounds like fun and road trips should provide opportunities for better averages. I'm dying to take a road trip but I can't even take a vacation day with my colleague out on disability. The company's looking to hire a temp person.

My sister is a tech rep and educator for a medical equipment division of a large company and she gets company vehicles. Her previous one was a Camry Hybrid. Great car. The one prior was a Chevy Volt. Cool! Now, she's in a company Chevy Equinox. Good vehicle, but thumbs down on the MPG front and I can't believe they're trending downward in an environmental sense.

Can she not request a vehicle or get an allowance for one instead of getting that specific model?

My sister had 2 vehicles to choose from. I don't remember what the other choice was. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a hybrid.

It's a perk of the job and the company pays for the fuel, too, I think, so my sister just went with the Equinox. With COVID, she's driving more to the intermediate destinations rather than flying, and her 6' 6" husband usually travels with her. Their personal car was a Tahoe, then a Buick Enclave. The Equinox is a bit better MPG-wise.

Today , and until Tuesday morning , in the Prius. 44 deg F in
Naperville and 43 in Elk Grove. A bit of a tailwind (SW) helped today.
    35.1 miles , fcd = 64.7 x .943 = 61.0 MPG. Fuel gauge has one pip
remaining , not flashing. Don't know how many miles on this tank because my
mechanic reset both tripmeters when he worked on the car about three weeks ago.
Tank is at fcd 64 MPG.

Just my opinion , but the Tahoe and Enclave are not "cars". I believe they fall into
the "school bus" or "land yacht " category.

    I agree.

edit: Back when my sister and brother-in-law were shopping the Tahoe, I was thinking the Honda Element would have met the husband's tall driver needs, but of course the Element does not have the cool looks of a big SUV. Tall drivers all over have probably found many other vehicles that fit their frames as well.

    48.9 / 21.5

Filled up this morning at an Exxon near work. Even though it's Cook County ( taxes, ouch ) , the price
is at least as low as DuPage County. $2.999 for 87 E10.
    No miles to report , but fcd said 64.4 x .943 = 60.7 MPG.
