Thanks for starting off March, Gord.

I thought I saw gas prices going up... I thought it was my imagination. :) I haven't reached three thousand miles of driving on my personal car in the past year, and I've lately begun relying more on a home electric top-off even though gasoline is cheaper. Most of my trips are short supply runs and medical/dental related appointments.

At this rate of gas price increase, hybrids may begin to sell better again in the USA. I've seen a lot of monster trucks (pickup trucks with big knobby tires) on the road of late. 4-door Jeeps (edit: Wrangler style) are popular, too.

No problem Bill and yeah, that’s quite a jump $$$
I agree Edwin but I don’t think a big chunk of tax like we have would go down well

Still paying close to $4/gallon in my area.

Happy that I'm filling up less than once per month on average.

Today in the Prius , probably until Friday night.
17 deg F in Naperville and Elk Grove. I'm currently
using weather.com because wunderground appears to be broken ,
at least on my computer here ( work ).
    35.1 miles, fcd = 58.1 x .943 = 54.8 MPG.
Will fill up here in Elk Grove after work with Exxon. For some reason ,
even though this is Cook County , this station has fuel prices more
in line with DuPage County , where I live.
It will probably be the worst tank of the winter ( I'm hoping ).

Monday night, tried the shorter (usually slower) non-motorway route to avoid the roadworks - not too bad -
actually used less gas than motorway route on a normal day!, 48°F, crosswind N3:
    47.4 / 19.7

Tuesday morning, motorway route, 37°F, crosswind N5:

    49.8 / 21.6

    Tank up 0.2 at 46.8 (FCD 49.4) / 138.9 / Range 560 . Guess gauge F««««|««««E . UG up 0.4 at 49.7 / DTE 533

Adjusted the UltraGauge calibration from 0.730 to 0.745 - I'll have to see how that goes!

Last night, shorter route again, bit busier, 49°F, crosswind N3:
    45.8 / 19.6

This morning, motorway route, raining, 42°F, crosswind N5:

    46.1 / 21.5

    Tank down 0.2 at 46.6 (FCD 49.1) / 180.0 / Range 510 . Guess gauge F_«««|««««E . UG down 0.3 at 49.4 / DTE 488

That really works for me. My "Scenic Route #2" saves me about 2.5 miles , $0.95 toll , AND gives
better fuel economy. Yes , it takes a little more time. But it's less stressful than doing battle on the tollways.

Today , back in the Prius. A perfect storm of balmy weather , tailwind , and non-highway roads.
    57 deg F in Elk Grove. 16.3 miles , fcd = 80.5 x .943 = 75.9 MPG. I'll take it.
