The state-of-the-art and efficient turbo diesel is now integrated into both the all-new full-size GM pickups and SUVs.

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe w/ the 3.0L I6 Duramax – The Perfect Black SUV Platform

The all-new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe offers the most interior space, the most efficient when equipped with the Duramax I6, and the best driving dynamics in the full-size SUV segment.

The changes to the Tahoe provide a best-in-class 66 percent more cargo room behind the third row, 10 additional inches of third-row legroom, and dramatically improved driving experience.

The all-new Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, available on High Country and Z71 models, provides load leveling at all four corners of the vehicle, and up to 4 inches of ride-height adjustment. In highway driving, the system automatically lowers the ride height ¾-inch to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. A driver-selectable setting lowers the suspension 2 inches to aid passenger entry and exit when the vehicle is parked. Drivers can also raise the body for additional ground clearance when driving off-road by 1 inch at low speeds in 4WD HI, and an additional 1 inch at lower speeds in 4WD LO.

The all-new interior is equipped with up to five display screens including the standard 10” diagonal central color touchscreen, optional 8” diagonal instrument cluster, optional 15” HUD <-- a waste imho, and optional dual 12.6” diagonal rear-seat LCD displays.

The Tahoe offers up to 9 cameras views and new trailering features including trailer profiles, trailer tire pressure/temperature monitoring and Side Blind Zone Alert.

    2021 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV Chassis

The all-new Tahoe features an independent rear suspension and longer wheelbase. The new architecture includes improved passenger accommodations, cargo capacity, driving dynamics and exterior proportions.

The longer wheelbase and new chassis systems provide a smoother ride. The vehicles’ load floors are significantly lower, providing a more natural seating position and a large increase in cargo volume.

    2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Cargo Volume

The all-new redesigned, fifth-generation 2021 Tahoe has a 4.9-inch longer wheelbase, a 6.7-inch increase in overall length, 40 percent more third-row legroom, and 66 percent greater cargo volume behind the third row compared to the outgoing model. The maximum cargo room increases 30 percent.

    2020/2021 Tahoe -- Change

    Wheelbase (in): 116/120.9 -- +4.9
    Overall Length (in): 204/210.7 -- +6.7
    Legroom – Second Row (in): 39.0/42.0 -- +3
    Legroom – Third Row (in): 24.8/34.9 -- +10.1
Cargo Room Behind Third Row (cu ft): 15.3/25.5 -- +10.2
Max Cargo Room (cu ft): 94.7/122.9 -- +28.2 <-- This Is Really Really Big!

For the first time, Tahoe’s second-row seat can slide up to 5.5 inches forward or back. Both the second- and third-row seats also fold more easily, and the load floor is now both flatter and lower than prior models – improving the ease of loading and unloading. The rear-door openings for the Tahoe are also larger.

The all-new Tahoe includes new trailering technologies including a max Trailering package that includes a high-capacity radiator and cooling fan, an integrated trailer brake controller, a Hitch Guidance with Hitch View feature and the Chevrolet trailering app.

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Rear Passenger(s) Interior

Real room for 7 or 8!

The all-new interior was designed to take advantage of the class-leading space to create the ultimate road trip environment. The interior is brighter thanks to expanded glass areas – including an available panoramic sunroof and more refined with premium materials.

The all-new Tahoe interior has larger displays, more connectivity options and a new rear-seat media system for family road trips.

The Chevrolet infotainment system includes the aforementioned 10” diagonal center touchscreen. Each rear screen offers independent connections, so passengers can watch different content on each side. Additionally, rear passengers can share content from one screen to the other, mirror content from an Android phone to a screen and “send” navigation points of interest, like restaurant suggestions or pit stop locations, to the central infotainment screen up front.

The new Tahoe also features a built-in Wi-Fi Hotspot with available 4G LTE data (3GB or 1-month data trial, whichever occurs first), Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multiple USB charging ports and, on all models except LS, wireless charging with charger cooling.

    2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Exterior

An aspect that creates more controversy as it is not the prettiest vehicle out there. The Tahoe includes larger proportions with 6 different trims.

    Design highlights include:

    • Active front grille shutters
    • Nine exterior colors
    • Standard 18” wheels on LS and LT; 20" polished aluminum alloys on Premier; 20” wheels with all-terrain tires on Z71; and 22” alloys on the RST and High Country
The standard LS and LT trims form the basis of the lineup.

The RST adds a unique front fascia, a black ice finish on the grille, and RST-specific seats with stitching in a contrasting color. RST models include all LT content, plus black and black-chrome exterior trim, 22” alloys and more.

The Z71 includes a new front fascia aiding in a higher approach angle off-road capability. 4WD is standard and includes a two-speed transfer case w/ Hill Descent Control, along with 20” alloys, all-terrain tires, front skid plate and red tow hooks. Z71 features black and black-chrome exterior accents.

    Hi All:

I pulled a KBB TIV estimate for a 2019 RWD Chevrolet Tahoe LT w/ Sunroof and Luxury pkg. in Good Condition. It appears to be worth about $28,500 or half of what a new 21 Chevrolet Tahoe LE with similar equipment costs.

Something to be be very mindful of if one were considering it for Commercial use.

    Hi All:

Diesel Sales Up 28% In 2020 Boosting Truck Segment Fuel Economy

Sales of pickups and SUVs with diesel engines grew 28 percent throughout 2020, even as overall auto sales declined by 15 percent. Among alternative fueled vehicle offerings, vehicles with diesel engines held 5 of the top 10 rankings for fastest growing sales (2019-2020) based on data and analysis provided by Alan Baum and Associates.

    2021 GMC Yukon Engine Choices

There is only one real choice. ;)

The 140,000 new diesels sold last year in full-size pickups is boosting overall corporate average fuel economy as diesel vehicle owners realize 16 to 25 percent fuel economy advantages over gasoline in both city and highway driving. If every full-size pickup sold in the U.S. was equipped with an advanced diesel engine, the U.S. could save roughly 500 million gallons of fuel per year.

Currently there are 13 diesel options available in mid, full-size and HD pickups. Starting in 2020, for the first time three diesel engine options were available the leading full size pickup truck segment from GM (Chevrolet Silverado 1500), Ram Trucks (1500 EcoDiesel), and Ford (F-150). This is in addition to their HD 2500 and 3500 series pickup truck offerings, including the Cummins Diesel in the Ram HDs, Duramax in the GM HDs, and PowerStroke in the Ford HDs. The Jeep Gladiator will have a 3.0L diesel engine option available in 2021.

Full-size SUVs from GM are now offered with the 3.0L I6 Duramax in the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade, making a total of 12 choices in the SUV segment. In addition to SUVs, there are nearly a dozen full-size vans offering a fuel-efficient diesel option as well.

With diesel now available at more than two-thirds of all gas stations, highway ratings of as high as 33 mpg along with driving ranges that can exceed 500 miles on a single tank, the diesel option presents great overall value for consumers in these larger vehicles.

More diesel engine sales would help boost the overall U.S. vehicle fleet fuel efficiency which, according to the U.S. EPA, fell to 24.9 mpg in the 2019 model year as more Americans bought larger sport utility vehicles instead of cars.
