Well, as it's probably already clear, I'm about done here.

I'm working from home since March (software engineer has its perks), so I don't have a regular commute. That means all my driving is "special case" and not at all consistent.

My son has a newly diagnosed chronic illness, so we are making regular trips to Dallas (~300 mi round trip) for treatments. For the first time in 13 years, I'm just setting the cruise control and going. I get 35 mpg instead of 50+, but I don't have the time or mental focus to do more these days. At least it beats taking the Odyssey.

That much highway driving, plus minimal in-town trips in between, means I've moved into EPA sticker territory - the car gets the mileage it gets. A Prius would fit my current use case better now. But I'm not ready to give up my stick shift just yet. :D

Thanks to all of you for everything.

He'll be okay. It's manageable with treatment. Not life-threatening, but quality of life will be less fun at times.

Likewise, I offer best wishes to your son. Moving on? You mean from this forum? Takes too much of your time?

    Hi Andrew:

You are not just a familiar sight but a standard bearer when it comes to saving fuel on ones commute for yourself and for help teaching others your skills.

I hope to hear of your sons recovery sooner than later.

Stay in touch when you can and you will be missed.

Thank you. He is improving with medication now, thankfully. We will continue this treatment program indefinitely but there is hope. I am so thankful to live in the time and place we do where this is available.
