Nobody cares about your exploits. You are making a mockery of yourself. Your exploits include dumpster diving and stealing food, which are exploits I would expect to hear from a rat. Those posts are off topic and make a fool of the person contributing. If you want to go on a sightseeing drive, go right ahead. You never note specific distances or consumption figures, and we're left to conclude it's because you don't drive in a way that conserves fuel. You will never have an EV if you have no income and no assets. I can't say "nobody will ever give you a car", because I give cars away all the time. So it is, in fact, possible. My 2024 New Car Giveaway rages on and the next one up is a young single mom in need of a new vehicle, and she should have it before end of month. Yes, it is indeed possible.
Hi All: Back on topic for a while. I had a job out of Nashville down to Birmingham and on the way back up about 40-miles south and west of Huntsville, I was called for another from Huntsville to Memphis. My 6-hour day was about to become a 14-hour or more one... Before I had finished that drop-off, I received another call to take some more devices out of Memphis back to Nashville. a 740-mile round trip day so I had to refuel somewhere along route. Birmingham was in the $2.55 to $2.70 range but I was still over 3/4 so I thought I may as well wait to refuel at the local Nashville Sam's Club which is down to just $2.45 as of yesterday. A Buc-ee's in Athens, AL was also a consideration on my way back at $2.549 until I looked back up at that Sam's Club near BNA. All of that went for naught however as I was now headed to Memphis. With the call, I knew I was going to have to refuel on the way back toward Nashville at some point. I was traveling US 72 between Huntsville and Memphis for most of the evening and saw on Gas Buddy some stations in the $2.44 to $2.60 range to my south on US-78 as I was approaching Memphis. All the Costco's and Sam's Club's across TN on the 40 were closed by this time so I was going to take whatever I could get. I was delivering so did not make the detour south. Just before crossing the MS/TN border a few miles below and to the east of Memphis while still on the 72, I came across a Shell Station at $2.599. I thought boy, if I see another, I am going to stop. In rural areas, nobody updates the stations so they show prices as ---. As a sidenote, I filled in probably 20 stations for future purchasers while heading westbound on the US-72 across AL and MS. Just before crossing into TN, there it was. My T-Mobile $0.20/gal Fuel Rewards discount had expired about 3-days ago but with a nickel off, $2.549 it was for top tier fuel. A bargain in my book. 9-16-2024 - Byhalia, MS - Shell - $2.549 Wayne
I saw 2.799 this morning in Farmingdale (Long Island) and it's still dropping slowly. And that's at an Exxon, not one of those no-name stations that sells stale gas mixed with lacquer thinner.
Hi All: I have no way to prove this but a Buc-ee's in Ennis, TX is reported to be charging just $2.139 for a gallon of liquid gold today. Holy smokes! 9-17-2024 - Ennis, TX - Buc-ee's - $2.139 Wayne
Tho people are reporting lower gas prices around the country, the Salish Sea(Puget Sound) station I got gasoline the other day, bounced UP five cents. The station must have discovered its price went too low to compete well with all the other stations, round about. Matter of fact, its price the other day was almost as low as low-priced stations....in Idaho! Yeah, western Washington gas stations can't be as low as Idaho. That would be like......giving good prices. Can't have that.
Hi All: While searching for a lower priced Shell in Memphis, many had bumped up their fuel prices by as much as $0.40/gallon just yesterday. I was all set to use my $0.20/gal T-Mobile/Fuel Rewards discount at 2 of them that were $2.489 and $2.439 only to discover they had both jumped up to $2.899 and $2.799 respectively. Another disconcerting item is Shell is offloading its stations as fast as possible and many that were Shell are now unknown/off-brands or absorbed into the parent stations like Circle K. So what is still listed as a Shell/Circle K is now just Circle K and the Shell - Fuel Rewards Discounts no longer apply. In any case, I refueled at a former Shell/Circle K - now a standalone Circle K, for $2.489 yesterday afternoon in Memphis before heading home towards Nashville. 9-18-2024 - Memphis, TN - Circle K - $2.489 Now, if you look at the upper right corner of the pic, you will notice something called Circle K Inner Circle Rewards which offers $0.25/gallon off your first 5 refuels. I signed up the Inner Rewards a long time ago so am not eligible but in case you are ready, here is the link: Circle K Inner Circle Rewards The Buc'ees in Ennis, TX reported above is now up to $2.499 this afternoon and as of this writeup. Wayne
People surmise why their local gasoline prices are going up....or down. Our Northwest prices are about the same, two tho have dropped. One of those two stations is yo-yoing up, then down. What? Because of what they read in the morning papers?.....or the internet? They don't change their prices because of what they pay for gasoline. Heaven forbid that free market pricing would dictate final retail prices.
Hi All: Marian and I ate at the famous "Peg Leg Porker" in Nashville yesterday. On the way back, I had to stop at BNA which guides me past the local Sam's Club about 2-miles form the AP. Within the apt 36-hours, prices have gone from $2.43/gal to $2.75/gal, and back to $2.71/gal as of last night. Somebody posted on Gas Buddy that they are back down to $2.43 as of this afternoon. Crazy indeed. All the while I am sitting on a $0.35/gal Shell/Fuel Rewards discount - $0.05/gal for Gold status, $0.15/gal from T-Mobile, and $0.15/gal from Shell for today only. I have 5/8 of a tank so I will not be saving much this evening. Wayne
Hi All: The $0.35/gal Shell/Fuel Rewards discount - $0.05/gal for Gold status, $0.15/gal from T-Mobile, and $0.15/gal from Shell for the 20th only was used for just 3.8 gallons to topped off unfortunately. Still a huge deal but I wish I was able to add 11 gallons at this price instead. I should have had Marian follow me in the RAV4 HEV and bring my two 5-gal fuel containers for this one! 9-20-2024 - Nashville, TN - Shell - $2.439 Wayne
Hi All: A little trip up north for work and to help my mom with some household chores... The first refuel was at a station known to fake their prices on GB but it was only .75 miles off the Interstate so I thought I would risk it as I was sitting on the $0.15/gal T-Mobile Tuesdays and $0.05/gal Fuel Rewards discounts. It was listed AND priced at $2.659 so I refueled. 9-25-2024 - Bowling Green, KY - Shell - $2.459 Traveling behind the wheel of the Prius Prime, its monstrous range kicks in as I am always able to skip Indiana and Illinois and avoid their higher prices - $2.99 to $4.399 is what I was seeing... Hurricane Helene was beginning to ramp up so a quick spike was almost guaranteed coming. The night before, this Costco in Kenosha, WI was at $2.799. The following day when I refueled, $2.88/gal it was. Not that I was complaining much as $2.889 for a gallon of liquid gold is still a steal and I needed 7-gallons if I liked it or not. 9-27-2024 - Kenosha, WI - Costco - $2.889 For the trip home, I picked up work out of Louisville headed to Nashville. No problem and had a minor refuel planned out of Elizabethtown, KY. That city always has the lowest prices in KY but to get to the lower priced Circle Ks, Shell's, Walmart's, BPs, Speedway's etc., you have to travel upwards of 10-miles in. With just $0.05/gal discount on my Fuel Rewards, a $2.489/gal Shell was in the mix and at $2.439, damn straight I added a few gallons! 9-28-2024 - Elizabethtown, KY - Shell - $2.439 And another short drive to Chicago and back is complete. This coming week, California here I come! And probably right back to Brunswick, GA for the Cross Country on $80? drive. Last Thursday, I was called to "possibly" perform a cross country drive of a different sort - different start and ending locations and one that involves a large number of DCFC Charging Station from a variety of companies to assess their physical health, performance, and reliability. I have been working on the overall scope of that projects goals along with an expansion of the parameters I was provided since I got back last night. I have a lot more work to do on it before I submit a detailed plan to the OEM tomorrow morning. It "may" have something to do with the following ... or maybe not. Wayne
Hi All: I had to run down to Huntsville last night and on the way back, a Shell was calling my name. I had the $0.15/gal T-Mobile Tuesday and $0.05/gal Fuel Rewards stacked. At $2.699, the discount brought the liquid gold down to $0.07/gal less than a Buc-ee's at the next off-ramp. Top Tier vs not Top Tier for less? Yup. 10-02-2024 - Athens, AL - Shell - $2.499 I was 5-miles into DTE 0 and she took on 10.596 gallons within its 11.4 gal tank. In other words, from DTE=0, she probably had .8 to .9 gallons left. Wayne
Well……still NOT in our community(which is still a staggering $4 per non-Costco gallons), BUT within our county, some Costco gasoline can be obtained for NEARLY the least prices in the state(except for 2 Eastern Washington Costco stations)…..if you include the yearly Costco rebate! Over the last half year or more, Costco has previously had fairly high prices.
Now Skagit County, north of our Snohomish County, with the Costco rebate, does have the lowest gasoline price in our state, at $3.057 per gallon, except for one Eastern Washington Costco station. That is quite a feat. Yes, yes, yes. Our local community drags its tail along at $4 per gallon. There’s a station in Alaska selling gas for $3.089 per gallon. Now an Idaho Costco station has gas for $2.961 per gallon.
Hi All: And just like that, it is cross country time! 10-03-2024 - Memphis, TN - Costco - $2.429 Memphis fuel was about $0.10 to $0.15/gal less expensive than Nashville's and the Prius Prime has some legs on her so why not. 10-04-2024 - OKC, OK - Sam's Club - $2.459 As fuel becomes more expensive heading west, the strategy is to refuel more often at the lowest prices in a given city. And that process begins now. 10-04-2024 - Amarillo, TX - Sam's Club - $2.589 10-04-2024 - Albuquerque, NM - Sam's Club - $2.599 And that was the last fill in which I found it for < $2.60/gallon... 10-05-2024 - Gallup, NM - Maverik - $2.969 On our way through AZ, I thought I would stop at a brand new, Pilot/Flying J/GM Ultium/EVGo 350 KW DCFC location. Beautiful location for these brand new stations! It just opened in the past few days so I updated Plugshare with its details incl. pics. That said, it costs $0.61/kWh so make sure you know what you are getting into. The Electrify America DCFC in Williams, AZ just 23 miles west, costs $0.56/kWh for everyday Pass members and $0.42/kWh for Pass Plus members. $7.00/month membership for Pass Plus required. Pilot/Flying J - GM Ultiium - EVGo DCFC - Bellemont, AZ EVGo DCFC's split power "Simultaneous Charging" if another vehicle is attached to the same charging cabinet as you are. And back to the gasoline refuels... 10-05-2024 - Mojave Valley, AZ - Thalypo - $2.959 The Mojave Valley, AZ Thalypo was $0.03/gal more expensive than a Walmart down the road about 10-miles but it was not worth it to drive the 20-mile RT for $0.03/gal. Still incredible to be picking up fuel for under $3.00 per in AZ and especially compared to the Mobil less than 2.6-miles away just across the CA/AZ border in Needles, CA. That Mobil was more than double the price! Wayne
