    Hi All:

On 10/08/2022, this was the lowest fuel cost I could find in Flagstaff, AZ. Saudi Arabia just told the U.S. to "F" off and allowed OPEC + including Russia to lower oil output by 2-million barrels per day. Prices heading to the Toyota multi-vehicle short lead in Nashville, AZ are going to be a wee bit higher than on the way out after that OPEC announcement.

    Hi All:

All the while, I am still heading east at a quick pace to reach the Toyota short lead in Nashville. And hoping fuel is a lot lower ahead than behind.

    Still on 10/08/2022 ...

    Hi All:

And the following morning. 10/09/2022, we crossed into TX on the 40 vs the 10 while heading to the Toyota short lead in Nashville. In a rush as well. ;)

That morning in Amarillo, TX, I found a station at $3.329/gallon.

    Hi All:

Still on 10/09/2022 and a short stint with no refuel stops in Oklahoma...

And a late evening refuel in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

$3.099? I refueled with a smile despite the station located in a more seedy part of town. ;)

Prices along my commute this morning were $3.68 to $3.99 for Exxon and Wawa. I expect the former to go up.

A few days ago my wife gassed up at Costco Washington state station that cost her $4.95. Supposedly, our Northwest has been having major escalations of prices because of refinery shutdowns for maintenance or repair. Since then, gas has moved down, but only about 20 cents. BBBUUUTTTTTT, I traveled to one station that had gas for $3.60. The station is small, but had much traffic, even at early Monday morning. Gave $80, & with all my gas cans I used up all the money! Was able to get 22+ gallons tho, instead of 16.8 gallons for all our cars.

I really really have to be able to get an Electric Car, like Gord did!!!:rolleyes:

    Hi All:

I have covered some 1,600 regional miles in the past 72-hours.

Last night's refuel was at a Costco in Nashville at $3.159/gal. Two days ago at a Buc-ees in Calhoun, GA at $3.129/gal and 3-days ago at a Costco just across the TN/GA border from Chattanooga at $2.999/gal.

Oh, wow. Two days ago, I got gas for $3.609, & thought it was a great value. Now a station in eastern Washington is selling gas for $3.089! So much for my good deal.

    Hi All:

I picked up fuel from a Shell in Henderson, KY two nights ago for $3.139 after the $0.10 off per gal, Fuel Rewards discount. There was a Walmart and a QuickTrip (???) at $3.089 and $3.099 a few miles down the road as well.

    Hi All:

I received an emergency medical hardware delivery request late last night. From my Nashville area home, I drove up the 65 to Bowling Green, KY for pickup, back down the 65 to Birmingham, AL, and back up the 65 towards Nashville through the overnight hours. I left with < 2/3 of a tank so I knew after the 550-mile RT, I would have to refuel along the route somewhere.

It is the middle of the night and I had not yet had any sleep, so I decided to see what Plug Share had available. Low and behold, Nissan's NA HQs in Franklin, TN - located just 10-miles to my TN homes south, was loaded! They have 4 dual 100 KW DCFCers and 6 L2s plus 10s of L2s in their parking structure. And they are all free! Hmmm, a quick 2-hour nap and a full charge worth 30 to 35 or so miles before taking on the final 190-miles to Birmingham. Yup, let’s do this.

I set my alarm for 2 hours out but heard the inverter fan kick off an hour early. I got up, got out, and discovered the Nissan L2s are probably on 1-hour timers. I unplug, plug back in, and take another hour nap to grab a full 6 KWh(s) and a hit and miss 2-hours of much needed rest.

    Thank you Nissan!!! :)
The next stop is my favorite Rest Area in the entire country. I call it the "Rocket Rest Area" on the TN/AL border and the 65 southbound. At this Rest Area, there is a full-size Saturn 1B rocket, a Memorial dedicated to Alabama citizens that have paid the ultimate price in U.S. wars since the Civil, dog walk rest area, and a great stop for anyone that happens to be driving by.

I remember the first time I saw this Rest Area was back during the Volkswagen Golf TDI Guinness World Record drive back in 2015. Bob and I were cruising down the 65 and I saw the top of the rocket above the trees. I said, WTH is that? We stopped, snapped some pics, and it was truly awesome. It has been just as awesome for the 10 or so times I have visited since.

The following pics I snapped at the Rocket Rest Area while driving the Hyundai Sonata Eco on the "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" drive from Detroit to New Orleans without refueling way back in 2015.

The sad note about this stop is there were notices that this Rest Area is going to be replaced shortly. I hope they keep the Saturn Rocket and Memorial’s, but I am not sure.

I dropped off the medical HW in Birmingham just after dawn and immediately began the long trek back north to Nashville.

Fuel prices are up since our most recent jaunt across the country earlier this month and AL, TN, KY, and GA are no different. Prices range from $2.99 in far northeast Nashville and Chattanooga to $3.80 at some of the pricier locations along the 24, 65, 40, and 75. I pulled into a Shell in Nolensville, TN just a few miles from my home and refueled with almost 11-gallons for $3.149 after a $0.05/gallon Shell/Fuel Rewards discount.

When I arrived home, it was time for much needed sleep.

Now I am up and raring to go on the next driving adventure wherever it may take me. ;)

Since the russian war against Ukraine jump started inflation, my Washington state(other states?) is having a yo-yo affair with gas prices. The added reason that our state’s refineries have been off-line for repair & maintenance have added to the problem. With the idea that R&M is getting behind us, gas started coming down. But today, the prices are blipping up again.

    We’ll see about tomorrow.

I bet our yo-yo can yo-yo higher than your yo-yo. Going by one station, selling diesel for $5.20. I wonder if I can find a higher price?
