I just came across the following... I thought it was a neat summary of how prices generally are across the USA.

The other day, here in western Washington state, the rain was to continue as it had for a week. I said enough!! With the temperatures elevated a bit, it was only rain, not snow coming down in the mountain passes. With just my T-shirt on, I kept the heat on to keep the windows clear, & headed for eastern WA, where the sunshine was sweet because the mountains blocked the rain. Passing Cle Elum, the rear view mirror showed the eastern slope Cascade Mountains buried deep in white snow. Never have I seen mountains gleam with such purity & brightness. Tho the Cascade mountains are not high like the Sierra Nevadas & Rocky Mountains, the region I viewed had the second highest non-volcanic Washington state mountain showing, 9415 foot Mt. Stewart, plus the Enchantments & their beauty. I remembered my past healthy days of hiking Mt. Stewart & the Enchantments, & I felt young, again. What a view & what a journey into the rest of eastern Washington! Later, the sunshine glistened off the waters of the Columbia River with equal fervor, as it had on the snowy mountains. I had to turn the heat down & finally off in the car AND then roll the windows down. The warmth of eastern Washington sunshine continued. At several points, the outside temperature hit 65degF.! Just a wonderful time of sunshine & heat. Re-enforcing the day of e.WA heat, Boise, Idaho hit 71degF yesterday.
Hit some eastern moving winds, which is often the case in e.WA. Despite the curves & mountain slopes, the Elantra averaged 49MPG, while going downwind. Against the wind & carrying an extra 141 pounds of cheap gasoline, the return was 41.7 MPG.
Returned to western Washington, & of course, to the rain.

P.S.: Now for your cultural point for the day. While working on this post, 20th Century composer Aaron Copland's Rodeo was playing. At its conclusion, the radio announcer said, at the premier of Rodeo, it received 22 curtain calls.

P.S. 2: Before I left w.WA for e.WA, a bald eagle flew over me to its nearby nest, with the loudest tones I have ever heard from a bald eagle. Quickly, its mate chimed in. I think they were protesting the continuous rain. Why I bring the incident up, is that the bald eagles near their nest now, continue to screech.... while in the continuous rain. They should have hitched a ride with me, when I went over to eastern Washington. But, then, they may have liked the weather so much, they might not have returned to their western Washington nest & that would have made me sad.
