Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price is down 10.3¢ (-3.7%) since last month at $2.717 - this time last year it was higher at $2.853 so it's 13.6¢ (-4.8%) cheaper.
Diesel has dropped below $3 (just) - its down 8.8¢ (-2.9%) on the month to $2.997. It's 5.9¢ (+2.0%) dearer than this time last year. Diesel premium is 10.3% more per gallon compared to Regular.
    E85 is down 2.7¢ (-1.1%) to $2.383 - a year ago it was $2.413 so also cheaper.

Saturday morning went to Brodsworth Hall in wife's Hyundai for a walk and a picnic. Beautiful day, started at 70°F and climbed quickly, left before it hit peak of 86°F:

This morning, 2UP, accident on motorway so detour #2 (reversed) followed by a detour of traffic light section, 57°F, headwind W9:
    45.9 / 21.1 - should have been better....

    Tank down 1.1 at 57.0 (FCD 60.0) / 68.5 / Range 610 . Fuel gauge F««««|««««E . UG up 0.6 at 55.8 / DTE 560

    Scenic route #3 today , 16.2 miles, no highway , 73.7 MPG.

Only working three days this week , but I have plenty of other holiday activities planned ,
most of which involve some driving.
But I did get some bike rides in this weekend : 22 miles on the Giant Saturday , then
19 miles on the Trek Sunday. It was hot and humid.

    651.8 miles / 9.814 gallons = 66.4 MPG. Close enough ?
    Today , a whopping 78 deg F in Naoerville , 77 in Wood Dale , 73 in Toronto Ontario.
    35.0 (?) miles , 67.4 MPG. Tank is at 40.7 miles , 67.7 MPG.

Still drippy wet dew this morning. Usually we've been dusty dry for a month (or sometimes two!) by now. I'm not complaining, the world is green instead of the usual brown.

    51.6 / 5.3 - home
    67.4 / 5.1 - to work

Tank is up a click to 55.6 mpg / 463 mi.

Taking an extended trip in my truck. FCD shows 8.8, with a lot of heavy loads (above 70k gross weight). I gotta say, in a car I like stick for many reasons, but in a truck, these automated manuals have kinda won me over...even if some of their logic really sucks.

No miles on my Civic for the last 5 weeks. I’m delivering freight for your family while my wife is having family time of her own!

My Civic is a beater, but far from dead. I just hope the Texas sun won’t rip her apart before I do! She’s a nice driver, with great inputs, a wonderful shifter, and a suspension which only lacks rear-drive to be truly great.

Thanks Edwin :D - hoping to have a shorter ride this evening :)

Monday going home, 2UP, detour #2 then unusually needed another detour on second half to avoid 2 queues caused by roadworks on a roundabout near home, 67°F, mostly tailwind WNW9:
    43.0 / 21.9

    Yesterday morning, 2UP, motorway route, 18°C, head/crosswind NW7:
    46.3 / 21.6

Yesterday going home, 2UP, detour #2 then needed same detour on second half as Monday, 19°C, mostly tailwind WNW6:
    42.4 / 21.9

    This morning, 2UP, motorway route, 10°C, cross/headwind NNW4:
    49.7 / 22.6 - bit better

    Tank down 1.5 at 45.0 (FCD 48.5) / 157.0 / Range 520 . Guess gauge F_«««|««««E . UG steady at 46.5 / DTE 471

    Lost pip 1 (of 8) @ 140 miles

    Gord, you and your detours!

I worked hard and got respectable numbers. (+6 and +9 from yesterday)
    57.8 / 5.3 - home
    76.1 / 5.3 - to work

That brings the tank up to 55.7 / 474 mi.

Ha ha Andrew :), last night was particularly detoury (is that a word?), 2UP, detour #2 then a further detour on first half followed by same detour on second half as the last 2 days, pleasant 71°F, mostly headwind ESE6:
    43.0 / 21.4

Biked over to my mother’s to sort out her hosepipe then had a ride round, 16.9 miles, 51.5 minutes :)

This morning, 2UP, motorway route, 15.5°C, mostly headwind again! WSW5:
    51.2 / 22.6 - at last! - first adjusted 50+ commute this week (FCD was showing 53.9) :D

    Tank up 0.3 at 46.3 (FCD 48.7) / 201.0 / Range 470 . Guess gauge F_«««|««««E . UG up 0.2 at 46.7 / DTE 429

Just a bump. Been mostly heavy loads lately, 8.8mpg indicated.

I’m on an extended run this summer, out about 5 weeks already and coming in, in about another week. My poor Civic has been sitting for the whole five weeks...

Hi James, you got anyone to turn the engine over?

Last night, 2UP, detour #2 then according to Google traffic the queue through the roadworks wasn't too bad - it lied - ended up in a stop/start crawl for 10 minutes, warmer 74°F, tail/crosswind NW6:
    44.3 / 20.9

This morning, 2UP, motorway route, 60°F, headwind W7:
    50.2 / 22.6

    Tank steady at 46.3 (FCD 48.8) / 244.5 / Range 415 . Guess gauge F__««|««««E . UG up 0.2 at 46.9 / DTE 389

    Lost pip 2 (of 8) @ 228 miles

Nope, and if I did, it sits in a gated company lot, so it would be a lot to ask of anyone. I just unhook the neg cable and hope for the best. That’s a why although I could afford something “better”, I go for a good beater. For a 22 year old car, this one rules.

It can satisfy both a budget enthusiast, or a veteran hypermiler. Or someone who’s both.

Today , 68 deg F in Naperville , 62 in Wood Dale , no wind.
    35.1 miles , 63.5 MPG. Tank is at 333.2 miles , 64.4 MPG.
Could be worse. Scenic route #2 home tonight , could be a 70 trip.
Most of the time , this route includes a 75 min stop at Planet Fitness.
It is still the shortest route home and no tolls !

Today , 66 deg F in Naperville , 62 in Wood Dale. No wind.
A LOT of incompetent , rude and/or aggressive drivers this morning on the tollway/expressway.
And I'm only on these highways between 4:30 and 5:00 AM ! More than usual. Why ?
    35.1 miles , 66.4 MPG. Tank is at 400.4 miles , 65.1 MPG , 253 miles remaining.
With a little luck , I won't have to fill until Sat morning. :)
