Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price has dropped a tiny 0.5¢ since last week to $2.492 - this time last year it was $2.367 so it's now only 5.3% (+12.5¢) dearer.
Diesel is up 3.6¢ at $2.905. It's now 14.7% (+37.2¢) more expensive than this time last year. Diesel is an increasing 16.6% premium to regular.
    E85 is down 1.9¢ to $2.071.

Really glad it's car pooler's turn for the commute this week - it was 28°F this morning and there was a thick frost - the inside of his windscreen was frozen . Much warmer here in the UK than the East Cost of the USA have been experiencing though - it was amazing to see Niagara falls almost frozen over after the "bombgenesis”.

Drove my friend's 2016 RAV4 to work today. Had to warm up car for about 5 min ( ice on windshield and woman passenger).
    32 deg F , 15.3 miles , 24.2 MPG ( including idling ).
Numbers come from Toyota fcd , so they might not be 100% accurate. I will try again tomorrow.

41.6 - 6.9 mi. yesterday, round trip to church and home.
    42 - 4 to work this morning, 13*F.
    59.5 - 4.7 home, 21*F.
Tank is showing 47- 54.8 mi. This week of mild weather has been a nice start to the tank. Snow is in the forecast so I expect it to drop this week.
Nothing like they are getting back east though. That storm is horrible.

I couldn't believe it when I read a cruise ship sailed through the storm. What were they thinking?...

Today , 27 deg F , wind SSW4. Driving the RAV4 again , warmed it up for five minutes. I was wrong about that last number I posted the other day.
I may have been looking at the lifetime mPG ( over 16,000 miles ) and not the trip. I'm STILL not certain how the thing works , but it looked like
31 MPG for the 15.3 mile trip. No highway. After driving the Prius for almost three years , the shifter in the RAV4 is unbelievably clunky and awkward.
I didn't try to go into neutral for glides , just tried to keep fcd maxed out ( 60 ) to "glide".

puddleglum - nice short trips you have. Bad for mpg, good for total consumption. :)

    45.6 / 3.7 - from work to a school event
    48.9 / 7.1 - home with 2 kids
51.5 / 11.4 - this morning, 3 kids to school and then to work

Tank is up to 43.7 / 212 mi.

Yes, it's nice for that and I don't need much of a car just to run around town. Your trips are pretty short too though.

44.3 - 4 to work this morning, 12*F. best morning run in a while.
49.5 - 4.7 home. Temp dropped and wind came up, 0*F (-19* windchill). With my slow speeds, wind resistance doesn't seem to make as much a difference as the cold. Car felt really stiff and dragging on the way home.

My averages dropped about 10% when we moved, but the normal trips we take are about 2/3 the distance.

    50.0 / 5.3 - home last night, 50F
52.0 / 11.4 - school and work this morning, 50F and drizzle. The freeze comes back tomorrow.

Tank is up to 44.2 / 229 mi.

Finally made it to the recycling center with some time over a lunch break that didn't have a meeting afterward.

there and back with dense fog and wet roads (and i'm sure near 35 PSI tires, as I haven't checked them in months.)
    51.6 / 11.7 miles (49F SS6 Fog and wet roads)

    tank:
    506.2 miles
10.5 gals converted (still from July fill)

I'd be happy to trade freezes ;). We're back in the deep freeze, only for a few days though. -10*F all day, 10 mph North wind ( -26*F windchill).
    37.1 -4 mi. to work.
46.7 - 5 mi. from work to grocery store. It was over 48 until I hit the parking lot.
38.8 - 1 mi. from store to home.

We have a nice break from the frigid temps. Even expecting some rain in a couple days. The snow cover seems persistent, though.

I don't envy you having to drive truck through winter roads, stay safe.

Really cold again today and numbers way down as well. My glides get way shorter in this weather. Only one more day and it's supposed to warm up.
    33.1 - 4 mi. -22*F (-37*F windchill) to work.
    44.6 - 4.7 mi. -19*F (-35*F windchill) home.

Wow puddleglum, I’ve never seen temps that cold in the UK!

Still no driving for me, did a 10.3 mile mountain bike ride Wednesday night through the woods!

I should be getting my car back tonight. This is very embarassing for me to admit , but hey , we're all family here , right ? After I got in the accident , I failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DUI. I thought that only happened to other people , lol. Well , it's certainly not a laughing matter , and will be a very costly one. Most likely , I will be able to keep my driver's license if I get a breathalyzer device installed on my car. I may need that device for six months. I'm embarrassed and ashamed , but I think this will end up being a positive growth experience.

Today , 21 deg F , wind NNW 17. Still being shuttled to and from work in my friend Linda's RAV4. When I am in the car , I drive. When SHE drives....... MPG is not a concern. Except for yesterday , most of the last week has been between 0 and 20 deg F. Filled up this morning : 324.9 miles/12.648 gallons = 25.69 MPG. Very little highway , maybe 40 miles.

    44.1 / 7.2 - home
    46.4 / 5.4 - out to a church meeting
    41 / 1.4 - to a store
    51.2 / 5.6 - home

    47.9 / 11.5 - school and work this morning

Tank is steady at 45.3 / 298 mi
