Starting at $37,495 including D&H and any available federal or state tax incentives, the Chevrolet Bolt EV’s 266 lb-ft of torque and 200 hp electric motor help propel the Bolt EV from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds.

For the competition, WardsAuto editors evaluate every new propulsion system available in production vehicles on sale in the U.S. Vehicles with a starting MSRP less than $63,000. The editors score eligible vehicles on hp, torque, technology, observed efficiency, relative competitiveness, and NVH.

An electric motor is now an engine ? Sure.

My thoughts exactly, but I'm sure the name for the award is outdated. Best engine sounds better than best propulsion system, especially for the (traditional FSP) car nuts.

What do we call a train driver? Engineer. They're almost all electric drive now, so electric can be an engine.
What's the propulsion system in a motorcycle? What we normally call an engine.

It's an artificial distinction between motor and engine. This works for me.

Motor is the broader, more generic term, I think. All engines are motors, but not all motors are engines.
