Lunch trip to the bank. Traffic was Terrible. Twice as much as normal, maybe more.
30.7 mpg / 1.3 mi - to the bank, somewhat uphill
    51.1 / 1.2

Tank is predictably down, to 50.7 / 250 mi.

You still somehow beat the EPA in an impossible scenario.

45 - 4 mi. to work (I think, should have written it down)
58 - 6.5 mi. From work to the drugstore downtown, then home.
485.3 mi. on tank. SG says it's empty but I still have gas left. Probably won't make it to the end of the year, but should easily be a 500+ mile tank. Never thought I'd see that in winter. F______I____/_E

    Today , tropical weather ! 35 deg F , nice tail wind (SSW10). 35.0 miles , 63.24 MPG. Tank is at 484.5 miles ,58.4 MPG.
It's nice to have a 60+ trip in December. Going to Metal Monkey at noon directly from work , and that's almost all highway , into the wind.

Not much driving today but mileage suffered. Oldest son was down for an early Christmas so took them out for lunch.
32.6 - 2.3 miles, round trip to the restaurant plus jockeying vehicles around to get them in the driveway.
Gassed up my son's truck to help him out. Cost more than I've spent on gas in the Echo for the last 6 months. Sure glad I don't need to drive a truck.

Lots of running around today, not going to convert all the numbers. 5.6 L/100 km - 5.7 km to church. 4.4 L/100 km - 16.1 km from church to work to pick up my drill, then home.
    5.7 L/100 km - 1.6 km to grocery store. 4.7 L/100 km - 1.7 km home.
    4.9 L/100 km - 4.1 km to visit mom. 4.1 L/100 km - 4.1 km home.
Tank is at 818 km (508.3 mi.), no low fuel light yet but probably soon.
Got to 42*F today (24*F this morning), really have enjoyed this mild weather but supposed to drop to more normal temps this week.

Nasty mileage in the truck. Light or heavy, it's been 7.2-7.8ish for the last week over rolling hills and occasional real mountain grades between VA and GA.

Been a marathon run, I ran extra time away to be home for Christmas and new year. Think I'll probably take a relaxed drive home in the Civic and be the jerk who cares apx. zero about what my surrounding motorists think. That attitude is a necessity in the truck, but a luxury in the car; and yes, I realize I'm being indulgent.

Sunday's driving totaled 86.3 miles , 62.87 MPG. I had Amy in the car for about half of those miles , and she "bit her tongue" about commenting on my driving.
I told her to feel free to make fun of it , or ask questions. She's a good old girl.
Filled up Sunday as well. Another tank that lasted only seven days. 544.2 miles /9.384 = , 57.99 MPG. Price of fuel up a bit to $2.539/gal of 87 E10.
    Fcd = 62.8.

It's okay to be that guy, James. How much do THOSE guys care about YOU and your needs ? Maybe less than zero ? Just my not-so-humble opinion.

Eh...Interstate 20 is well-enough trafficked that it can cause some traffic flow issues if you're taking it easy. It's not just a courtesy thing, it's potentially a safety issue as well.

Well then... you know what you have to do. For self-preservation, of course. :D

We don't want to hear about you and your Civic having to be scraped off the front bumper of another vehicle.

So , if the flow of traffic is going 75 in the far right lane of a 60 zone , I should " go with the flow " ?

I presume you're asking me, and anyone else who cares to weigh in?...

I cannot say I have ever encountered such a situation. With 2 or more lanes of highway, I have always been able to find a safe PSL lane in the right? Is that not the case in Illinois? Even in states with 70 MPH limits (parts of east coast near DC), I've been able to find like-minded 65 MPH drivers in the right lane.

Speed limit on the highway in question is in fact 75 mph.

I think Andrew means the "maximum" speed limit. Bill , I was asking anyone and everyone. My normal speed on our highways ( tollroads) is 55 , the max speed limit is 60 , minimum 45.
I will DWL , but usually never going under 54. I DO go faster downhill , especially when I need to climb the next hill immediately. How fast ? Above the legal limit and slower than many other cars.
If I'm going over 55 MPH , that means my instant fuel economy is 70-80 MPG. Quite often someone will come up behind me and not realize until they're about 50 feet away , that I'm going slower
than they are. Then they sit behind me until they can pass. I'm on the highway between about 4:40 and 5:05 AM , so traffic is NOT that heavy. There is at least three lanes everywhere (I-88 and I-355 ).
Truckers will sometimes come up behind me going 65. I don't care.I have some choice expletives for them , but I really don't care. Driving means being responsible for
looking ahead of you and analyzing what you will need to do in the next 5-20 seconds.

They are free to go around me.
