Hi Jud: Just pointing it out. Like the Child Molester Moore? I am a lot further from him than you are. Wayne
OK This is one of those "horrible funny" things I 100% believe Ole Roy did EXACTLY what he was said to have done And since he is roughly my age(Me=66 Ole Roy =70) I know 100% that in the late 1970's It sure as hell wasn't ok for a 30 year old man to even date teenagers(not in the USA perhaps in the middle east) These hypocrites are soooo much like the muslims they hate-same sort of behavior- not so many years ago they were persecuting blacks-just as the muslims persecute Christians shia muslims(most of our "enemies" are sunni-always have been 1) shores of aTripoli-sunni pirate states- 1800 or so 2) Moros Huks -phillipine "insurgents" about 1905-who the 45acp was put into development to shoot(at least that is the usual story) 3) al quaida 4)taliban 5)Isis Our problems with Iran-Persia-Shia-are our fault(we and the limeys-deposed their 1953 elected leader-installed the shah-)-yeah our fault-all to keep their "oil bidness" in the hands of some big corps Ok-it is still early-and I'm still in full crazy mode- but Judge Roy and his ilk-would fit right in with Osama etc radical religious muslims-70 virgins etc I think Judge Roy-up to 9 Al franken-creepy bastard-up to 2 Harvey weinstein-50 or more(with the potted plant episode being the LEAST OF HIS offenses) President Clinton-one rape claim-seems plausible on the other side of the plate Kevin Spacey 5 or so good actor but Bad actor And on the weirdly funny Louis CK 5 or 6 (but his crimes) kinda pitiful My guess-Judge Roy will WIN- yeah Alabama is like that-the senate WON'T kick him out-they want that tax cut for the Koch brothers President Trump-his offenses(which he denies-but…) involved adult women not barely teens
OK, we are now up to 4 for Franken. Why hasn't he resigned yet? We don't need a silly ass "ethics investigation" (now there is something funny, politicians investigating each other for ethics. Really? You guys say that with a straight face?). He needs to step down, NOW. As to Moore, he is a candidate. Since he refuses to step aside, i guess at this point it is up to voters to set him aside themselves. I have a feeling they will not put this pig in office. Time for Conyers to step down also. Why do we tolerate this crap? Let's get these people out of office. Then, let's get Trump impeached. Time to REALLY drain the swamp.
I'm more interested in the general discourse surrounding this and other politician scandals. Many of my leftist friends use this as an opportunity to throw shade on republicans, in a way similar to how my more right-wing friends used Hillary multiple times to display how opportunistic democrats were. I think this discussion here is a lot more even-keeled than many I see, and while that's to the credit of the folks here, it's also a bit of a sad commentary. But it makes me sad that so many folks are so prone to bomb-throwing for petty tribal causes in an age where we have so much information available to us, in a place where we have always sought to better ourselves.
Absolutely. Let the voters decide. I'm betting on voters' distaste for this kind of thing. All I'll say on impeaching Trump is to look at the line of succession. We'd create more goodwill for the same money buying everyone a fudge sundae.
Hmm-a week or so ago Judge Roy was 10% down vs the democrat-who he was beating by 15% before this broke In 20 days?? Old Roy MIGHT win My brother lives in Enterprise Ala-he says the Dem isn't what you would call a full on L/R coast liberal- but liberal by Ala standards(he prosecuted-30-40 years later-a couple of those children killing church bombers from the civil rights era-) But I wouldn't bet against Old Roy-not in Ala Hmmm-Al not here? Notice Old Roy was brandishing a small revolver-M60 S&W- nice gun-but for display you would think he would carry something more visually impressive? Charlie
Hi All: Today it was announced that Congressman Conyers (D-MI) is stepping down after his past transgressions into the Sexual Harassment realm. All the while the POTUS and GOP are now backing the accused child molester Roy Moore. A child molester for a vote? The R's have reached a disturbingly new low on the morality front. Wayne
Hi All: Republican Rick Saccone said this at his campaign’s final rally in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, last night: I guess this is the new face of the latest iteration of Republican party membership that Trump just endorsed. Wayne
An awful lot of false equivocation there, with enough of a thread of truth to seem like it's a factual statement. Rhetoric like that is why I maintain that the tribal partisanship and ensuing breakdown in useful discourse is a bigger problem than people realize. I can't quantify this, but I feel it's at the very least a dark horse contender for being our country's biggest and most grave problem.
Hi JCP123: Regarding Moore, he was known to hang out cruising the mall looking for teenagers, he was known for dating teenagers, and even met his wife as a teenager all the while he was in his 30s and 40s. These are facts. Regarding Saccone, his statement was quoted two days ago was also fact. I saw the entire speech and can only say screw him as I am a Christian and lean to the liberal side of the aisle. Wayne
Well again...privately, I believe Roy Moore is a rather sick individual who is unworthy of his defenders. The stack of evidence and anecdotes is too thick for me to believe otherwise. Intellectually, though, since there was no realistic opportunity for due process when the allegations came out, I have to try to remain a bit more agnostic. Regarding Saccone, again, I'll simply maintain what I said earlier. It's an unwarranted and opportunistic fomenting of an increasingly adversarial attitude towards the other side. The statement is made, I fully believe, in bad faith. A republic can't thrive when that's the prevailing way of addressing folks you don't agree with.
