Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price is down 0.9¢ since last week to $2.334 - this time last year it was $2.158 so it's 8.2% (+17.6¢) more expensive.

Diesel is almost unchanged at $2.527 (-0.1¢). It's now 8.8% (+20.5¢) more expensive than this time last year. Diesel is an 8.3% premium to regular.

Motorway last night - longish queue to get there so needed down and up the junction trick, 2UP, 65°F, 8mph tail/crosswind SW:

    43.8 / 22.4

This morning, 2UP, managed motorway stretch really well - an almost perfect combination of 'N' and 7th gear coasts and then the lights changed to green while coming off the slip road. However it took 3 changes of the lights to get through the start of the traffic light section but still ended up with second best mpg according to the FCD on a commute this year, milder 61°F, 2mph tail/crosswind ESE:

    66.3.jpg

    52.3 (FCD 55.2mpgUS) / 22.5

    Tank up 0.4 at 44.9 (FCD 47.5) / 345.5 / Range 280 . Guess gauge F___«|««««E

Today , 70.5 deg F , wind W8. Light rain , wet roads all the way in. 34.9 miles , 66.4 MPG. Tank is at 571.7 miles , 70.12 MPG. Going on a date after work , so who knows when I will be heading home. But that late hour means I will be taking the highway home (ugh). I'm really tired of this highway (I-355 and I-88).

Today , 56 deg F , wind WNW5. 35.0 miles , 66.77 MPG. Tanks is at 657.5 miles ( one pip , no low fuel light yet) and 69.94 MPG. Will fill up Thursday morning. The luck of the pump shut-off will determine if this is a 70MPG tank. Either way , I've had a nice little string of them.

Today , 56 deg F , wind N2. 35.1 miles (stopped for fuel) , 67.33 MPG. Tank is at 30.6 miles , 69.56 MPG. Filled up at usual Shell , 696.6 miles / 9.585 gallons calculates to 72.68 MPG. But my last fill-up was suspicious , so just using my .93 correction factor may be more accurate. Fcd = 75.6 * .93 = 70.31 MPG. I can live with that.

68.2 MPG for 5.1 miles is a very nice trip. I don't think I could do it in the Prius. 55-60 , maybe.

You've got to look at the round trip. Work is a bit downhill from home, but it's not a free ride. I have to go back up to get home.

Today , 50 deg F , wind WNW3. 16.2 miles, no highway , 76.17 MPG. Tank is at 65.8 miles , 71.98 MPG. For me , going home may be downhill. There is a long stretch ( 1.5-2.0 miles ) on I-88 where my fcd reads 80-90 MPG. Nice !

As long as it keeps climbing up Andrew :p

Any chance the engine didn't shut off on a FAS?

Car is still in the garage and has not been driving in 2 weeks. I may have to drive it a little bit this weekend just to stir things around. I also now have a slight down hill from home to anywhere in town and then have to climb back to the house. Maybe a trip to get a snow cone. Although the last few days have been great with highs in the mid 80's and lows in the mid 60's and lower humidity. It has not be stifling hot and humid.

Hope you guys in Texas are prepared for rain and lots of it in the next few days.

We should be fine here in north Texas. My parents and sister are closer to it but still well inland. They're prepping for the wet.
