Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price has fallen 1.1¢ since last week at $2.252 - this time last year it was $2.211 so it's 1.9% (+4.1¢) more expensive.
Diesel is down a tiny 0.2¢ at $2.443. It's now 3.7% (+8.8¢) more expensive than this time last year. Diesel is at an increasing 8.5% premium to regular.

Not my turn to drive this week - car pooling

Great trip , Andrew ! I can't say the same about my trip today. No numbers , let's just say I overslept , took the highway , accelerated too hard , cruised too fast. But coming home was better: 33.9 miles , 74.03 MPG. The NNE wind did help me on the highway trip home.

Took my wife to the mountains for our 34th anniversary. Drove the Rondo, very little hypermiling. Just a little DWL and keeping the speed as low as I dared on the freeway, mostly cruise. I don't have any accurate monitoring in this car anymore as I only drive it when we travel (wife's car now) but I do have a phone app to give me some instant and trip mpg feedback. App showed 7.5 l/100 going out and 6.5 l/100 return. Tank mileage ended up okay, all things considered. I've always found this car really hard to hypermile. It's better on the highway than in the city, but it's the main reason I never got very involved in this site way back when. Got discouraged with my lack of results.

33.22 mpg - 368.72 miles for tank. about 95% highway.

Wasn't expecting to be driving this morning but car pooler was in pain and struggling to drive home last night so asked if I could drive today so 2UP, 60°F, detoured traffic light section due to long queue, 4mph tail/crosswind ENE:

    48.7 / 22.9

    Tank up 0.2 at 46.5 (FCD 49.1) / 325.7 / Range 335 . Guess gauge F___«|««««E . UG up 0.1 at 47.2 / DTE312

Lost third pip @ 314 miles

had a trip into town on Friday night to a Beats and Eats festival downtown (music and eats and crafts from vendors) the on to Lowes to pick up some supplies. 9 foot garage door weather stripping molding, swallowed by the Fit.

    62.3 / 5.4 miles down town (80F with heat index of 87F NNW@6)
    59.0 / 3.6 miles to lowes
    48.0 / 9.4 miles home (79F H.I. of 86F still WNW@5)

    tank:
    47.1 MPG (+0.2)
    9.11 gals converted
    435.1 miles
F_____|___\**E (just under 3/4 on the guess gauge.)

No further use of the car this week. I washed it and put it in the garage finally so it is not just sitting out in the hot sun day after day :0)

I had several back to back errands today so car stayed warm. All in town except about 1.5 miles of Highway. Saw 66 at one point but couldn't hold it there. Finished the day at:
    60.9 mpg - 18.9 miles.

Seems to good to be true so I'm hoping my SG isn't over reporting. I'll find out eventually, gas gauge just coming off full.

Tank is up to 57 mpg at 97 miles.

Today , 70 deg F , wind WSW3. Short , non-highway trip of 16.2 miles , 82.96 MPG. Tank is now at 542.4 miles , 69.75 MPG. Picked up the Giant from bike shop yesterday , immediately went to the Great Western Trail about half a mile down the road , then did a 17.5 mile ride. The bike works well. It's never fun crossing some of the busy streets the Trail crosses , but it does go thru some nice woods , too. Average speed 13.1.

Nice work with the 50, Gord!
Edwin, nice to have your bike back.
Puddleglum, well, if it takes a long time to go through a tank that means you're saving a lot. It's good news.

    I got 51.2 / 5.4 home last night
    65.6 / 5.2 this morning, 85 degrees!

    Tank is up a tick to 49.3 / 307.

Today , 69 deg F , wind SE2 , light rain for the last few miles. 35.0 miles , 67.61 MPG. Tank is at two pips , 612.6 miles , 69.66 MPG. A 70MPG tank is possible , also a 700 mile tank. I may have to decide on one or the other. I look to see how many miles on the tank when the last pip starts flashing. I can go at least 50 miles after that point.

Thanks Andrew - I've improved on that this morning! :D

    45.5 / 22.4

My drive again this morning, 2UP, detoured traffic light section again but even better than yesterday, 61°F, heavy rain near work, 2mph head/crosswind SSW:

Should be at least the 1.6 remaining gallons claimed by Toyota × your 70 mpg = 112 miles. People who've actually checked find up to 2.5 gallons remaining. My experience is that parking with the car headed uphill between short trips always causes the last segment to start flickering prematurely, making it impossible to know accurately when it might otherwise have started.

I was driving more than usual today, but not the best result. 4 mile round trip down town this morning. A short trip to the hardware store. Drove to the south end of town this evening loaded heavy. 4 stops down there before coming home. Storm came in with 16 mph NW wind and heavy rain for last half so not much EOC.
48.1 mpg and 23.4 miles for the day.

Tank down to 55 mpg at 126.6 miles

    44.9 / 22.4

This morning, 2UP, traffic light section detour, 58°F, 12mph crosswind S:

I've managed to do 3 out of 4 inbound commutes at 50+ this week :D, traffic going home usually drags me down :(.
