    It's hot out there. The van threw a hissy fit 12 miles away and stranded my family. I drove out there to have some stern words with it. Got it sorted out, headed back. Got a call partway back that it's still not right. U turn and go back, fiddle with it some more. Tailed them home, then back to work. I'm hot and sweaty and ... put out.

    Something's wrong with the brake pedal switch. It's stuck in Park and won't start. After some fiddling with the switch it starts up. Then the brakes aren't right- feels like the parking brake is stuck on. Fiddle with the switch some more and now it's ok. I don't trust it. New switch coming soon.

    53 mpg / 12 mi - out
    53.6 / 12 - boomerang
    50.8 / 9.8 - work

    Tank +1.0 to 44.8 / 207 mi.

    Today , 63.5 deg F , wind NE 8 ( headwind). 34.9 miles , 68.4 (63.61) MPG. Tank is at 282.6 miles , 76.7(71.33) MPG. Hopefully this wind is still blowing when I head home tonight.

    Hope you get the van fixed correctly, Andrew. Is the Honda dealer going to do the work ?

    I'm going to replace the switch myself for $9 first and see how that does.

    48.9 / 6 mi - home, with a CRAZY headwind out of nowhere. Clear weather, but for that one hour it was blowing 30+ mph. ??? Leaving work I got dust in my eye from the construction on the other side of the golf course.
    61.6 / 6.5 - work this morning

    Tank +0.4 to 45.2 / 220 mi, down to 3/4. After that highway start, this one is an uphill climb.

    Here is hoping that the new switch corrects this behavior. May have been a front sweep through or a gust front from T_Storms else where.

    last night:
    - 63.3 / 12.9 miles (81F SE@6 - h.i. of 87F) but it sure felt sticker than that.
    FCD = 61.2 (+0.1)

    this morninig:
    - 55.3 / 13.0 miles (71F SE@1) with heavy dew
    FCD = 61.1 (-0.1)

    LFL light came on at 634.6 miles (it is supposed to indicate that there is 1.60 gals left at about 1/10 left on the gauge.)

    Tank:
    11.14 gals converted (seems like this is not matching up to what I see on the gauge.)
    640.7 miles

    Today , 54 deg F , wind N2. 34.9 miles , 69.7(64.82) MPG. Tank dropping steadily , now at 353.1 miles , 75.9(70.59) MPG. Scenic route home today and Friday , so that will help a bit.

    52.5 / 6.3 - home
    61.2 / 5.8 - work this morning

    Tank up 0.5 to 45.7 / 232 mi. One nice thing about a low start, every trip after that raises the average.

    Yeah. The flip side of that is having a good start. I started out this tank with 70 miles at 77 MPG right after I filled last Thursday. Nowhere to go but down after that !

    I set my tank size to 12 gals as I think that it more likely the size with the filler neck (maybe a little more). But as of yesterday it was show 11.14 gals instead of around 10.7 gals used. So I would guess that the SG offset is off again.

    I may have to do a slash and dash of a few dollars tonight (I don't have a lot of time tonight to do a full fill) as I don't think I will make until tomorrow night (read I don't want to risk it), then add the two fills together.

    last night:
    - 66.2 / 12.9 miles (89F - h.i. of 94F (almost cool), Winds from the N@6)
    FCD = 61.3 (+0.2)

    this morning:
    - 54.5 / 13.1 miles (72F ESE@7)
    FCD = 61.2 (-0.1)

    tank:
    11.54
    666.2 miles

    Yesterday , my round-trip ( highway in , scenic route home ) was 68.0 miles , 76.6(71.24) MPG. Today , 57.5 deg F , wind S1. 34.9 miles , 72.8(67.7) MPG. Not sure how I got that good a number , I had some unexpected red lights. Tank is at 421.2 miles , 76.2(70.87) MPG. Have a date with an adorable woman named Paula Saturday. So , I'm looking forward to that !

    53.7 / 6.0 - home last night

    I replaced the brake switch on the van and it was immediately clear that was not the problem. Still locked in P and no start.

    Next up is the Transmission Position Switch. The shifter connects to the transmission. Then there's a position switch that reads the actual result and reports back, that controls the safety lockout (no start in gear, no shift without pressing brake) It's a $150 part, but easy enough to get to - just remove the wheel and there it is. I took it out and opened it up and it's a bit worn. I cleaned the contacts and adjusted it left and right until it worked.

    Went to Honda first thing this morning. They can ship one in for tomorrow morning. We're (hopefully) heading out of town in the evening. :eek:

    51.5 / 6.7 - to honda dealer as they opened the doors at 7:30
    56.8 / 2.8 - work

    Tank +0.9 to 46.6 / 259 mi

    last night work to Gas station then home (left the key on while pumping as to keep it all in one trip)
    - 61.1 / 13.0 miles (89F, h.i 93F ENE@3) Added 2.514 gals ($5.00) until I can fill up properly tonight.
    FCD = 61.2 (=)

    I may have lost one or so MPG while it start there with the key on, since SG show a 0.02 GPH value when the engine is off.

    this morning:
    -55.0 / 13.1 miles (75F T-Storm and light rain, left a few minutes early to avoid the down pour that was coming)
    FCD = 61.1 (-0.1)

    Fill up tonight as I have more time after work to it.

    Prepping for a week away (van allowing :rolleyes:). Feed store and ATM. Traffic was heavier than normal.

    48.2 / 4.9 - feed
    49.0 / 4.1 - atm
    49.3 / 1.3 - work

    Tank up 0.1 to 46.7 / 269 mi.

    Today , 61 deg F , didn't check wind direction and speed , but there might be a headwind cuz my trip was pretty mediocre. 34.9 miles , 68.0(63.24) MPG. Tank is at 489.9 miles , 75.3 (70.03 ) MPG. At least my trip back tonight ( scenic to pub, then home ) should bring it up a wee bit. Wishing all of you a safe and fun holiday weekend !

    Edit : There was a 9 mph headwind. Mystery solved.

    I got the part for the van at 7:30 this morning, dashed back home and replaced it. Easy breezy job except... the wire where it plugs in. That plug is up behind the engine behind the rat's nest of hoses and cables and junk, with clips that require three hands to undo. The actual sensor is right behind the wheel, easy once that's off.

    It starts right up, shifts through the gears like it should, the dash lights up with PRNDL as it should. :D

    No numbers because I drove the van to work for a little more testing before we leave on vacation... in the van.

    let's hope that, it this the last of that issue Andrew.

    last night to gas station:
    - 63.0 / 11.2 miles (88F , h.i. 95F - SSW210 with some wet roads from scattered showers.)
    FCD = 61.2 (+0.1)

    Fill
    11.789 gals pumped (over the 2 days) - I prob could have made it but I didn't want to chance it for not a PR tank.
    702.9 miles
    59.63 MPG
    Decreased the SG offset as it was showing I used 12.2 gals.

    home:
    - 71.1 / 1.8 miles
    FCD = 78.3

    this morning:
    - 54.3 / 13.1 miles (70F NE@6) water temp at start was 76F
    FCD = 57.5 (-20.8)

    Tank:
    0.26 gals converted
    14.6 miles

    I had an okay trip home Friday , despite a bit of holiday weekend traffic. From work to laundromat , an hour later to pub , two hours later to home. 35.1 miles , 82.2 (76.45) MPG. No work today , but I am leaving around 2:00 for a date. Should be 80-90 miles of driving , but I can choose the roads. Some will be highway. Tank is at 525.1 miles , 75.7 ( 70.4 ) MPG. Hoping I cam maintain this 70.4(actual) tank.

    After that, no driving Sunday or Monday , but LOTS of cycling.
