Hi all, Just bought a NAH only a few days ago. I love this car... Found this site from a post on greenhybrid.com. Looks like I've got some reading to do... Best regards, -Gren
How do I put the nifty banner in my sig? It looks like it comes from the "Mileage Logs", but I can't figure out how to enter a 2007 vehicle - only goes up to 2006... Thanks in advance. -Gren
Welcome! I've read a lot of great things about those Nissans, it's just a shame they aren't trying to promote them more and sell them throughout the country. Looking forward to see what kind of mileage it gives you!
Just a few day now, but I've got the average mpg meter up over 31mpg already, and it's still rising. That's 50% over the 20mpg I was getting in my old 93 Camry XLE. I know that doesn't count towards hypermiling, but it sure makes me feel good about my purchase. And it drives like heaven... Yeah, Nissan should promote the NAH. It's a great car. Neither myself nor Mrs Khan wanted to buy car that day, but the car just blew our minds. It's pretty much everything I want, and it's only the base model (plus floor mats and kick plates). -Gren
A belated wecome to CleanMPG! I learned something new today: I didn't know that Nissan made a hybrid. It does seem like Nissan needs to do more advertising. And yes, there is a LOT of reading to do here.
Hi GrendalKhan: ___Welcome indeed and you have a wonderful vehicle in which to achieve new things ___To get you started, the Nissan Hybrid drivetrain was derived from the first gen THS (Toyota Hybrid System) more then likely although the numbers it achieved in the EPA puts it on par with HSD (Hybrid Synergy Drive) in the TCH (Toyota Camry Hybrid). How is that for a ton of acronyms Anyway, take a look over the Prius-I review and the internal link back to the Prius-I techniques article as well as the Prius-II FE article and see if you can cobble up something that may work in the NAH too? I would love to drive one for a week or two to see what she may be worth on my commute but to say you own a wonderful machine would be an understatement! ___Good Luck welcome. ___Wayne
we haven't got any nah yet at our dealership. i wonder if they will be coming out with the coupe? that would be a sweet looking 2 door.
Nissan is also trying to make their own trans/hybrid synergy drive while they use the Toyota technology at the moment. also on your altima, is it push start? can you shut the Eng down for coasting or does the steering wheel lock when you push the button(don't try this you could crash). off/acc/on/start are the 4 positions and i would guess you need to apply the brake to start the engine again? we haven't got a alt hyb yet at our dealer, cant wait to try one out.
Great googally moogally.... Yes, it's got a START button. I have no idea if I can stop the engine, I'm far too scared to try that. I'm perfectly happy getting better MPG than the last car for now. Sheesh... I'm getting shivers just thinking about it. I'm ok at drafting (from a distance), and I'm learning how to pulse and glide (I think). Once the engine is heated up, I can keep it in EV mode for pretty long periods of time. I just hyper-mile part-time tho; I pretty much try to go with the traffic. And in Massachusetts, there ain't nothing but traffic... Over-inflating the tires is next on the list, I think. Yes, too scared of Mrs Khan. No telling what she'd do if I turned the car off... -Gren
I was reprogramming a key fob for a reg 07 alt, you have to do the steering lock release first before you program the remote. i noticed that after the key was on, i switched it to off and the wheel did not lock until the door was open/closed. this might be a safety feature if your engine stalls the steering wont lock up on you while driving. i haven't got a chance to try the Eng off/ on while driving, even the back roads are too crowded for this test.
