It is amazing how much their SUVs and Trucks have jumped, yet their cars have plummeted from last year. It is so obvious as to me that gas prices have played a major role in this uptrend for people wanting massive vehicles, again.
Hi John: The FCA car lineup is also not as competitive as it should/could be. The 200 has the right interior but the drivetrain - read efficiency - is lagging. And yet overall sales thanks to Jeep and RAM continue on an unabated upward trajectory in both the U.S. and Canada as shown yet again below. Strong product on the truck/SUV side is proving itself... Until like you surmise, gas prices rise. Wayne, I do not disagree with what you said about their car line up. The 200 you mentioned would be on one of my short lists due to looks alone. The issue that I see is primarily their drive-train, as you stated. The interwebs are full of 9 speed transmission woes. It was one of the reasons that the Jeep Cherokee was knocked off our list so quickly. That and Mama really wanted the Crosstrek, which has turned out to be a great vehicle for the money. If FCA could fix the 9 speed, I think that with time, people would finally start giving them a serious chance.
