    Welcome to the grind :D

    The national average gas price continues to climb - up 1.7¢ to $2.056 - it's now only 38.7¢ cheaper than this time last year.
    Diesel is almost static, down 0.1¢ at $2.101, which is still 71.4¢ cheaper than this time last year.

    Diesel is at a small 2.2% premium to regular.

    Back to the commute this morning, 50°F, 6mph crosswind S. Not wanting to tar all drivers of a certain sex with the same brush (ahem) but a stupid woman decided the left lane of the main 2-lane into the city was a good place to change a tire :rolleyes: which caused a bit of a hold-up:

    Filled up Wednesday on the way home. 617.9 miles , 10.153 gallons , 60.86 MPG. Fcd = 65.1 , so 7% over-report is very consistent. I do try to stick to same station , same pump , and I have six consecutive tanks at this place. I'm trying ( again) to calibrate my Scangauge , because it's got to be MUCH more accurate than the Toyota fcd( which I cannot calibrate). I gave up on it for a long time, because it didn't seem to work consistently for an entire tank. Now I believe it is. It reads about 1.5% lower than actual. For my 10.153 gallons fill , it had estimated I used 10.3 gallons. I told it 10.1 when I reset yesterday.
    Today , 37 deg F , wind WNW 13-21 MPH. 34.3 miles , 60.4(56.17) MPG.

    53.3 / 5.3 - home last night in a stiff headwind
    52.1 / 8.3 - this morning running late. JUST caught the bus and got the kids on. Driver was waving us to hurry and tailed me out of the lot.

    Tank just steady at 53.1 / 563 mi.

    Having a pretty good week or so with fuel economy. The weather has gone cold and we are expecting snow and rain for the next week or so. It's currently raining like a dickens out.

    Looking like I'm going to have to replace the passenger-side motor mount. The shaking has gotten incredibly rough and it's a common problem on the Focus. $130 for the part and it's a pretty simple job. Just need to save up the money for it!

    last night:
    - 59.7 / 12.9 miles (65F WNW@19 gusting to 31, more of a side wind than a tail wind)
    FCD = 57.0 (+0.2)

    this morning with school drop off:
    - 47.6 / 13.1 miles (55F W@9, side winds) Also not proud that I got so frustrated with the inconsideration of some parents dropping of their kids causing a hold up on everyone else, then just traffic was spaced out just enough to make you think you were going to get to get in but at the last second there is now not enough space all the while the engine idles on. Finally so an opening and gunned it for about 4 blocks to get in and get to the right lane before I had to turn again. Hit 60 :rolleyes: and a lot of revs. It doesn't like to do to fuel cut off for some reason if it is in the 5000 RPM range o_O. so anyway I guess I cleaned out the intake and exhaust ports.:p
    FCD = 56.7 (-0.3)

    Today , 34.5 deg F , wind WSW 4. 34.3 miles , 65.7(61.1) MPG. Tank is at 106.4 miles , 65.1(60.54) MPG. Yesterday , I took the scenic route again and stopped to donate platelets. After a two hour stop , the engine still held a bit of heat (91F).
    Also had to stop at Babies R Us in Naperville , but I left it in Ready mode for a few minutes then. 33.8 miles/68.2(63.42) MPG.

    I hate when that happens , Jason. Heck , I hate it when I have to go over 2000 RPM.

    Now that I have let the herbicide work on the grass and weeds in the garden, this weekend my be time to get out and clean it up and start planting something. The Strawberry plants are flowering and already making fruit) the raspberry and blackberry plants are leafing out. Time to put some beets, beans, peppers (sweet and jalapenos) and cucumbers (pickles) in the ground.
