    Welcome to the grind :D

The national average gas price dropped another 4.3¢ to $1.696.
Gas is 45.4¢ lower than this time last year.
Diesel has managed to break $2, down 3¢ at $1.989, 83.7¢ lower than this time last year.

I guess I will start this show off for this day after V Day.

Thanks for starting the thread, Jason.

    Today , 24 deg F , no wind. 34.4 miles , 60.2 * .93 = 55.99 MPG. Filled up today with 9.090 gallons of E10 at $1.589 per. 476.7 miles , fcd said 56.8 , actual was 52.44 MPG. Over-report = 8% ? This is ridiculous. Same pump as always. Scangauge said 51.5. Tank is now at 29.9 miles , 63.4 *. 93 = 58.96 MPG. We're expecting snow tonight ; hopefully not before I get home.

yep, no problem. First time I set one up since the new software.
Andrew big honor for your oldest. Well done.

    - 54.6 / 13.1 miles (46F W@9)

8% over-report is ridiculous - I'm taking 4.5% off all my numbers. I'd much prefer it the other way around like my old Honda

Going home last night was very busy, stop/start, had to do the up and down the junctions trick to get to detour #2, 42°F, 12mph crosswind S:
    39.0 / 20.1

Had a quick bite to eat then straight off for another physiotherapy session. Did much better going than last time, 41°F, 12mph tailwind may have helped:
    49.8 / 8.0 (FCD 52.1 !)
    43.5 / 8.1

This morning to work, 2UP, raining 41°F, 12mph crosswind S, great 'N' coast on the motorway through the 50mph temporary PSL section :
    46.0 / 22.5

    Tank steady at 43.5 / 208.9 / Range 400. Guess gauge: F__««|««««E . UG up 0.3 at 43.7 / DTE382

Lost second pip at 207 miles

Today , 24 deg F , wind WNW 5 MPH. 34.4 miles , 59.6 * .93 = 55.43 MPG. Tank is at 97.9 miles , 61.6 *.93 = 57.29 MPG. I may have a chance to boost these numbers up a bit : we should have temps in the 50s , Friday and Saturday. High 40's Sunday. Gord , what is your physiotherapy for ? You may have mentioned it previously , but my memory isn't that great.

Hi Edwin, I've got a muscle in my lower left back (joins bottom of ribcage to top of pelvis apparently) which is really tight and I'm not standing straight without some pain.
If I exercise the pain goes away so I've been walking, cycling, running, digging, etc. which works for a while but if I sit down (i.e. work!!!) for a while and then get up it's sore again. It's improving slowly, thanks for asking :)

Ouch. Sorry Gord. Hope you can "work" it out for good.

My fuel usage is way up with the longer drives this week. I dropped down to E a week earlier than I expected.

    53.5 / 5.3 - home last night, 65F and major headwind 18 mph
55.3 / 18.4 - this morning across town to school and back across to work. Foggy 45F

    Tank up 0.2 to 51.4 / 564. E light came on at 540.

Gord glad to hear it doesn't hurt when you ride your bike as you have been doing that a fair amount recently. I guess you wouldn't if it were hurting.

60's here today then mid 70's Thursday and Friday. Next week will be back to normal temps again.

    Last night:
    61.6 / 13.0 miles (45F WNW@8)
    FCD = 56.4 (+0.8)

This morning with school drop off:
    - 47.9 / 13.1 miles (31F S@4 with frost on everything, had to scrap some)
    FCD = 55.4 (-0.1)

    tank:
    1.78 gals converted
    96.8 miles

    Today , 24.5 deg F , wind ESE 8 MPH. 34.3 miles , 60.0*.93 = 55.8 MPG. Tank is at 165.5 miles , 61.8 * .93 = 57.47 MPG. I expect a high in the low 40s later today , but an unfavourable wind. Friday , SIXTY deg F !

Edwin, Jason, that's great weather for a change! :D

I'm pushing the limit here on this tank. I've gone 142 past the E light before (@72 mpg), I'm at 47 past now and 51 mpg. In other words, nearly 2 gallons, and I've used 1. I'll be filling tonight after another ~10 miles.

    54.9 / 5.3 - home last night, 66F
    53.3 / 17.4 - across town to school and work, 50F

Tank +0.1 to 51.5 / 587 mi. Needle is almost off the bottom of the E mark.

I admit that I haven't pushed the Prius too far past the flashing last pip. Maybe 50 miles. I think there may be 2 gallons left at that time. I do remember only putting in about 10.4 gallons on that next fill. ( 11.9 tank )
I do expect to push it further this summer. Longest tank last year = 685 miles(65mpg actual). For 2016 = 730 miles ?

When I did that, it was planned and I had a gas can in the back. Only once, though. I haven't approached that mpg or distance since, so no reason to push for full E. I'm just really short on time this week so haven't had a chance to fill yet.

Yeah I usually don't push to hard in the winter either. The most I have even used and added back was 11.666 gals. That is into a "10.6 Gal" tank. From experience I would think that there might be another 1.5-2 gals that we can add in to the filler neck as the gas tank is under the front seats in the Fit so it is a long filler neck. So I would think 12 Gals - 12.5 Gals are getting to be the max in the Fit. But I have never even made it to fuel starve yet either.

    last night:
    63.2 / 12.9 miles (60F SSE@8)
    FCD = 56.1 (+0.7)

this morning with school drop off
    54.9 / 13.1 miles (50F SSE@14)
    FCD = 56.0 (-0.1)

winds are howling right now with gusting up to 40 MPH but it is 73F outside (in February).

    tank:
    2.23 gals converted
    122.6 miles
F|*****|*****E just on the bottom of the full line.

12.982 is the max I've fit in, that same time I mentioned when I ran it dry.

Shoulda posted this a bit back but I was frustrated. Echo had a run-down battery again after 4 weeks, so I had to idle the darn thing while I unloaded my truck to go home. It also had a leaky tire which was nearly flat. 39.xxmpg for the Echo's last tank. Yuck.

That was further compounded by what I can only call sheer bad luck in my big rig in January - I had almost universal headwinds the whole month. If I had a headwind one day and turned around the next; well, the wind shifted accordingly, too. I had mind-numbing days in the 6 mpg range even lightly loaded. One day the winds were so fierce I quit the day early.

Nevertheless, I mended the Echo's tire and purchased a solar battery charger. While I was at it, I put on the accessory belts I bought a year ago and changed the oil since it had also been about a year (roughly 5k miles). Those fires put out, I lately fear a head gasket leak and have observed my fuel trims on the freeway soaring to +17. It never ends.

We are preparing to trade the wife's Kia. Hope it'll turn out well...

    That sucks James :(

My last 2 days have been a bit up and down o_O.
Going home Wednesday night was worst I've had for a long time, a combination of stupid traffic, broken down vehicles, accidents and multiple detours resulted in a 28.8 mile journey which took 90 minutes at an average of 19mpg  - first 7 miles were done in an average of less than 10mph . I got a bit fed up near the end and my right foot got a bit twitchy so used some of the power on tap for a blast down some country lanes - good fun :p - I was quite impressed I still got 33mpg for that trip
    33.0 / 28.8

Thursday morning went to a meeting with OH, 38°F, 5mph crosswind W, roadworks going:
    40.2 / 16.8 Including a 0.8 mile leg to drop off youngest on a dead-end street
    44.4 / 21.5 Avoided roadworks coming back

Thursday to work, on my own, later than normal, 45°F, 6mph headwind W:
    48.7 / 21.3
Going home Thursday evening looked like it was going to be repeat of Wednesday as an accident on motorway resulted in standing traffic on normal route - just managed to swap lanes and take a different detour which wasn't too bad:
    42.7 / 19.9

    This morning, 2UP, freezing 32°F, 5mph head/crosswind SW:
    44.7 / 22.5

    Tank down 1.0 at 42.5 / 339.7 / Range 235. Guess gauge: F____|««««E . UG down 1.2 at 42.5 / DTE235

Lost third pip @ 260 miles
    Half tank @ 322 miles

Off to Norfolk as soon as I get home at lunchtime today with wife for the weekend

Today , 46.5 deg F , wind S 22 MPH (!) which certainly helped for eight miles of north-bound highway. 34.3 miles , 66.4 *.93 = 61.75 MPG. Tank is at 233.4 miles , 62.4 *.93 = 58.03 MPG. While it may hit 60 F today , I think strong winds will be hurting me on the way home. I'm going to the pub , so the scenic route is a good option.
Which do you think will be best ; take the highway ,save 7 minutes , and hope for the best ?
Or take the local roads and fight the wind while I pulse and get shorter glides ??
