Hi Ksstathead: Thanks for the update. Working through the minor issues before tackling the major ones... Wayne
Hi Jay: Matthew has a pretty big tick list. He just finished setting up the individual thread uploads. We are trying to get a new gallery and import the old one over. Wayne
Hi All: A number of BbCodes are installed with a few more going in. The new Image Gallery has been purchased and the old media gallery should be brought into the new Gallery when Matthew can get to it. You can upload images into individual thread at your leisure. I set it up to a maximum of 2 MB and 1280x720 for now. I might move that to 1920x1080 or higher soon as well. Wayne
Hi All: Matthew installed the new Gallery Software and is moving the 30k+ photos over right now. You will see a new link on the top of the pages called Media. That is where it is at. Wayne
Hi All: A lot of work done today and I just finished up moving the entire front page to the new BbCode format. Still having trouble with the table code however. Will find another to replace it tomorrow hopefully. Mike sent me a note saying that he could not log in this afternoon. Matthew hopefully fixed that on the server side. fimg=right /fimg or fimg=left /fimg are no longer an option although I am still looking as we have thousands of News posts with those tags installed and I do not want to give up on the great formatting of all those past posts just yet. The new News picture from left to right BbCode is float_right /float_right or float_left /float_right And you use the tags within, not just the url of the pic. All of the codes above still use the brackets around each. Posting a vid is as easy as tossing in the url and the forum software will display it between the [media] tags. You can right and left float them with the tags above too. The new media gallery is installed and the pics/data has been moved over. I am still sorting out its capability and usefulness. While the front page and CMS works, there are some issues with it. Matthew will be installing a Joomla CMS and front page soon. Matthew is going to try and move the MPG logs over tomorrow. If they do not move over successfully, does anyone know how to code php? Some easy stuff and some just different so I hope you have patience. Quite a few items still on the tick list but the forum should be a lot faster, a little more stable, and a little bit easier to use once you get used to it. Post your bug reports here when you find them. Wayne
Hi Wayne I've found that the links to previous FE challenges in The Daily Grind do not work so on the current challenge (FE31) I've edited the links for FE24 thru FE30. I've also edited the links to the photos on FE24 thru FE31 as they didn't work either due to the fimg=right /fimg or fimg=left /fimg no longer working. On the table on FE31, it lists the contestants in alpha order so I've inserted a full stop before my headings so they appear at the top. How do I replace/remove the column1, column2, etc. with my headings in tables? Can we default a table to more than 10 entries? Also I can't find lxmike's mileage log image (http://www.cleanmpg.com/index.php?page=garage&displayunits=MPG(US)&viewcar=4108) - it's no longer there. Are the older tank logs still to be moved over? I won't do any more in case you find a work-around. It's definitely coming together, keep up the good work ...........
I'm no longer banned One thing I would suggest is to put in a redirect from www.cleanmpg.com/forums to www.cleanmpg.com/community. I generally went straight to the forums URL but it just gives a database error message now. Other members may be in the same boat and wondering when the old site will come back online.
Well I'm back for a while I thought Wayne banned me. I kept getting you are not permitted to view this page when I logged in. Matt fixed it for me Thanks
Hi Mike: One of Matthews tick lists is to clean up all the redirects going to nowhere. Al, never! Wayne
Hi Gord: The table code we installed yesterday is a PIA with all these column lists and embedded customized arrows that only screw things up. I will try and find a new table BbCode today. Matthew is going to try and move the tank logs over probably today. Fingers crossed on that one as it could be a royal PIA for all of us. The url links going to nowhere are still being worked out. I am looking for a WYSIWYG check box for the editor. Editing the Ford Camper story this morning took over an hour. IHTHs? Wayne
Update about old links: whilst the new forum provides a means to remap, the OLD forum is being quite the pain in the arse. It seems that this redirect only works when the old forum software (which at this point is at least 8 years old) still functions. In this case vBulletin 3.6 has no love for a modern php/mysql combination and just errors out. One of the driving reasons for the switch to Xen to begin with. If I must I'll work out a regex redirect of some kind. The 'old' threads still exist, just the old links to them don't work. I presume that the Goog will eventually remap everything over for site searches but it would still be nice to redirect in the mean time (and also to catch threads that were linked in old posts).
Hi Matthew: Thanks so much for having a go at this task. For everyone, we may have a fix for tables as the current code is a bloody mess. Matthew should be installing it later today. Wayne
I know you guys are super busy but those colors on the two bars at the top with the Home/Forum need to change so they contrast better. I can hardly read them on my iPad2.
Hi Tom: I did not want to go to deep into the design as there are quite a few other items I need to take care of first but I increased both the height and font size of the top navigation bars. There are literally an infinite number of color combinations, sizes, backgrounds and text color for every area and I do not want to screw things up to much. Let me know the color(s) you would like to see and I can move the forum to it in minutes. Wayne
