    Hi All:

Am interested in moving to XenFro from VBulletin. VBulletin 5 is a mess but am not sure how a port will work. Some former VB 3.x owners have ported millions of posts into XenFro but that is a huge question for Matthew.

Anyway, thinking about it right now.

PS: CleanMPG cost me $10 to operate last month after the server cost so there is no profit to be had.

    Thanks

That's what PriusChat uses. From what little time I spend over there it seems like a nice interface.

Another forum that I moderate on has moved from vBulletin to Xenforo, and I think that was a wise move. vBulletin used to be the king of forum software, but they've really screwed up things with their latest revisions.

    Hi Tim and Jay:

Thanks. Working through the initial stages of purchase to be installed on a test server right now.

I sure hope I can upload all the Social Media content on it like I do to Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest? That is my main concern actually.

    Hi All:

    A little update.

Matthew has CleanMPG running Xenforo on his own server. The port of all threads/posts was also successful. He has m ore testing to complete this weekend. In the next few days he will put this up on the server and import what's currently there. Then he will turn it over for some Mod testing to see if all the moderator features function. A few weeks shakeout, and when the home page /news/articles thing is resolved, migrate in the next 2 weeks.

The mileage logs may be able to just live as is. It's just one of the things he needs to check this week.

The Xenforo folks made it pretty easy to port out of other systems.

    Hi All:

Along with Matthew completing the port to Xenforo, two individuals contributions made the new SW purchase possible.

Thanks go to Murray "Tribossessive" ($125) and Jay S. ($25.00).

    Hi All:

The Moderators have access to the new forum SW.

Not that it was needed but we are moving to a much faster VM server and hosting company as well. It will be easier for Matthew to manage.

    Crossing fingers here. :)

    Hi All:

Matthew is going to attempt the port this weekend so expect more than a few hours of outages this weekend.

I have also started the process of moving to a faster VM Server with more speed and bandwidth. And a lot less expensive. We will see that occur over the next two to three weeks too.

Oh, that'd be good. Much easier for posting pictures, and "alerts" are good: alerts you to fresh posts in threads you've contributed to. A small but effective feature is the "like" button: allows you to acknowledge/second/thank someone's posting, without having to clutter the thread with another response. Good mobile-friendly interface too.

The forum that I spend the most time on switched to XenForo some time back.
From what the owner said, the main guy at XenForo helped them out significantly with the changeover, personally.

I think it's going to be a great step forward for CleanMPG!

    Hi All:

Matthew is going to throw the switch in a few hours so we will be offline for just a bit. Expect tomorrow to be a new day and a while lot of new to learn. :)

    Hi All:

We had a failed migration to the new SW last night so we are back on VB. Not sure when we will try again.

    Hi All:

The new forum SW is up. It is a bit crude now but we will see how it goes going forward.

    Hi All:

It appears that photo uploads are broken. Img and most tags are also gone.

Posting a vid is easy however. Drop in the url it displays from Vimeo and YouTube. I just cannot size them or relocate them like I used to. Yet.

    Hi Gord:

Good to hear. Matthew is installing BbCode today and we will work though the upgrade.

I've been able to log in and to make a post. No problems from my simple world.
